    Alpine KTP-445

I've used one, it's definitely better then stock power, but isn't comparable to a small decent mids/highs amp.

what does it take to get 150dB @ 25Hz?

List your current equipment. Are the 18s you have in your van IB? If not, have you tried making the volume smaller by filling the enclosure up with objects, wood, etc, and then adjust tuning?

I need help figuring out what to do....

Sealed box will have a more linear response. I would just do a ported enclosure and tune low, like the 28hz you stated. On paper a ported enclosure is ~3dB louder then sealed, but box size, driver positioning and placement, and cabin characteristics will change this. Most proper ported enclosures w/same drivers are louder then sealed. I had a 18" bl for some time in a ported enclosure and loved it. Sounded very clear on drums, attacks in rock, and was loud on rap

What's the cargo dimensions with rear seat up? Fender well to fender well? Depth from hatch opening to back of rear seat? Height before you hit the glass? Thank you

then perhaps 12s and more power... Still up in the air which car I'll get. I'd love to get a volvo v70, has tons of room... but finding one with semi low miles and in my budget may be a bit tricky. On the other side, it looks like I can easily afford a tc with low miles... tomorrow i'll make a trip down to the dealership and measure out the rear cargo area and go from there. hows your build going along?

Thanks for the insight and advice, I'll def be reading through your log. I'd like to keep the rear seats up, but I'll have to see what I can fit behind them... You did 146s with 2 12s? daily power? The most I've been able to pull off is 143db on a 40hz tone in my last vehicle. And that was with the passenger door open... I'd like to be able to do 146db+ sealed up on music. Trying to use efficiency of big drivers (say 2 15s, if big enough ported enclosure can fit) and ~3k. Thanks shizz

Figures I'll have to read up on Volvo speed and see what specifically is notorious for going out...

Yeah I love the look, the newer ones are less angled, more rounded, don't like the look. But the other ones like the above pic look sweet. The R model already comes with cool looking wheels, getting them powder-coated black doesn't cost much either, and makes plenty of power. So yeah that's my latest endeavor

Looking at some 1998-2000 volvo v70's Any thoughts? I've heard some mixed things about the transmissions.

    Box design...opinions?

From the last design I see: 2.5" for port width and 12.5" for port height. 2.5*12.5 = 32.25 square inches of port area. if you stuck by the 12"-16" rule, then your in between 28.8" and 38.4" (so it looks like it'll be fine, but I'm no box builder)

    alt fit?

I'm pretty set on the Volvo it has tons of space! Gonna be awesome. I just had argent build me a new box for the jeep, I wonder if it'll fit in Volvo

    alt fit?

I got a 270xp series alt for a 1997 I6 4.0L jeep wrangler a few months ago. I wanted to know what other vehicles and years it would fit on? I'm looking to get a new car and likely better off selling the alt and buying a new one then sending it in for a new case. Car is still undecided, likely scion tc or volvo v70 Thanks

    alt fit?

    Perfect.
  17. Thanks, was thinking about the golf, forgot about the saabs
  18. Currently have a jeep but rarely go four wheeling anymore... My 2door jeep is small, and my substage takes up the whole rear area. So basically any car except a coupe would be an upgrade as far as room and cargo area. I don't really want a trunk car, main reason being it's harder to fit a enclosure in, and have to deal with getting bass into the cabin. My budget is $7000, possibly 8. Looking for 2000 and up. Current vehicles I've been looking at are: Scion xB and Scion tC, and Volvo v70. So basically something with a hatch, room in the rear to fit a nice big sub enclosure (pair of 15s or what not). anyone got any other cars I should look into? thanks EDIT: no honda civics or large suvs.

    Bought a new house...

congratz, nice house. I'm in the same boat as far as getting a new house, looking at 3car garage houses only. Having the room to do projects will be awesome. Hope everything goes well as far as closing and all that.
  20. That's awesome. Glad they didn't rape you for something stupid.
