    New Box Ideas

Never used a skar driver so I don't have any input on it. But I've used both the icon and the bl. Icon got pretty loud and sounded superb doing it. The Bl also got loud (can't compare output due to different size drivers, different enclosure, and different amount of drivers), but seemed like the icon had better sq. But like I said, different enclosures so it's hard to really gauge what was ultimately better.

    Fi Audio Subwoofer Comparisons

One thing, check what the subsonic filter is on your RF amp. I believe the bd models have fixed ssf at 15hz which isn't a good idea for a ported enclosure, unless your tuning that low, but your not since this is your daily driver. If it's fixed at 15hz, add an inline filter such as an fmod, or possibly your headunit has some filtering (although I doubt it unless it's something fancy), or get a different amp.

Vehicle - Equipment - dB results

yeah that's a good score for that amount of power, cone area, and being a trunk I'll be curious to see the results after you got the xcons in. Have you decided what amp you'll be using? I'm using an IA 40.1, I just need to save up to get a DC power alt so I can power it properly lol. They've actually been in for a while I just don't have a meter, I'm probably hitting somewhere in the upper 140's though (pretty hard to judge though). sweet, how much power does the IA 40.1 make on the sub channel (or it's a monoblock one channel?)? It's a monoblock rated at 3600 Wrms @12v, and people say it to do anywhere between 4-5K on 14.4 volts. Oh, and it looks bad ass lol. Yeah there all black right? Sounds like a powerhouse

I need help figuring out what to do....

I've been thinking I and guess I will go sealed just because it fits my situation better. The measurements are H:24.5" W:36" D1:18.5" D2:11.5". So a wedge then it probably won't matter where it's mounted.

Rubber mounts inbetween box and floor isn't a bad idea. I'd get all the upgrades, gives you some increased power handling and cooling (doesn't cost that much either) Do you have a design yet for the box? How close would the port be to the magnet if you mounted the driver in the center?

Agreed. I went from being able to turn my volume up to 20, to 25, and the headunit goes to 35. (kinda vague, but you get the idea).

don't need to reassure us, we believe ya I really like the new look to the malibus. Def. gonna be tuned in for this thread. Planning on doing a few comps here and there?

x2, it may or may not rub, but I wouldn't want to risk short circuiting and burning down. I thought the same thing on my dads car, but this was with the wire that went through the door to the speakers, ended up rubbing.. now everything is fucked in his doors. lol nothing works, locks, etc. ouch, what vehicle?

Cheapest I found it is at sonic electronix for $110, I'll sell it $50shipped, only two months old. Any how, good day!

Well I believe the phrase go big or go home applies. 1. only a bit more money so why not. 2. looks 3. Why not? Generally more cone area = more output, but putting a big driver in a small box will have negative effects compared to a step down in size driver in the proper enclosure. Just because a sand rail is fast, doesn't mean it'll work best for rock crawling (bad analogy I know) I think I will be fine considering the recommended ported volume is 6-10 ft^3 and I am close to the middle. sounds like you have plenty of volume for a sealed enclosure then If you do a sealed enclosure you may want to do the "High QTS" option (note: if you do the high qts then that Q should never be played in a ported enclosure).
