It is impossible for me not to modify a car. So I got this PT Cruiser...

Is that a gif from a real video? New TV series on FX: Fargo. It's pretty good.

Looking good, wish I could hear it when it's all finished.

how to pinpoint electrical drop issues?
ssh replied to ncc74656's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I would run the test again at multiple RPMs and record the output, then you'll have a rough power curve. Then you have three options (since you can't change the pulley size): 1) depending on the power curve you could raise the engine idle rpm enough to where it makes decent power (provided it's not idling excessively high) 2) add another battery so you have some extra reserve at idle, but it'll also be an additional current draw overall so it may not be optimal. Figure the stock electrical likely requires the majority of that 60A at idle if not more + the current draw from the amps (attempting to pull 2kw) is likely greater than what two batteries are going to provide. 3) get another alt that makes power at idle. -
And you're still not done?

I don't know specifics about their products, so I can't really answer that question. This is the topic that reminded me of what it sounds like your friend is running into: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/52554-sooo-i-got-a-gift-and-its-almost-here/?p=865825 -

Alternators need to reach a certain rpm before they turn on and produce any current. Some high output alternator designs make lots of current at high rpm but at the expense of current at low rpm. I'm presuming since his car is new it idles pretty low--low enough that it either doesn't trip the alternator turn on speed (so the alt is off) or the alt just makes less power at idle than the OEM alt. To overcome the former people often swap out alternator pulley size so the alt rpm increases enough at idle to meet the required turn on speed, but then you have to worry about spinning the alternator too much at higher engine rpm. IIRC there's a few people on this forum that had Mechman alts and ran into this exact issue. -
How long have you been taking cyclobenzaprine?Just since Saturday and I skipped 2 nights.I hate the stuff but it works. :-) glad it's working, nothing worse than meds that don't.

Yeah I wouldn't be using one. How are the TBs on the top end? If you could snap your fingers and add a tweeter to the top end would you?
-
Always in the same spot? If so, I can't say enough about the TB W4-1337's I am running FR vented in my office. I don't imagine I would be moving them around for any reason, so I'd put them where they sound best--whether that be on the desk or on stands on either side.

Dude! Where you been? I miss "us"! No homo Been busy with classes. I have a few weeks off then I start up again.

http://www.diysoundgroup.com/anarchy-woofer.html Thanks.
-
Fuck, looks like they closed shop.

Maybe I should grab some exodus ex-anarchies again. I mean this time I could actually have them in an enclosure vs IB and I know they sound good. Hmmm

http://www.zaphaudio.com/ might find an idea or two there. im using the 3" hivi fullrange set for my computer speakers. they do an ok job on their own but you really need a sub. sean is running tang band w4 titaniums full range, iirc. i run them in my car in a 3 way. really sweet speakers. PE has the overnight sensations kits as well. https://www.parts-express.com/overnight-sensations-mt-speaker-kit-pair--300-706 Yeah I've thought about the tang band titaniums and bamboo, but not sure how much midbass they would have on their own, or what to pair them with. I'll check out Zaph, thanks.
-
I should also note that I can make stands for the enclosures, so I can space them out accordingly in width and height if that helps.
-
What are some good paired drivers for 2-way desk / small room setup? Don't need a sub, but having some impact on the midbass for Tool and the alike is always nice. Enclosures would need to be under 2ft^3. I'd grab a minidsp for processing. Budget for the speakers total would likely be under 200. Just looking for something better than your average computer speakers and a fun weekend project.

I see how it is.

I never use excel so I'm not familiar with their macros, but they have a function IsDate IsDate("1/3/2004") would return TRUEIsDate("Tech on the Net") would return FALSEIsDate("January 3, 2004") would return TRUEhttp://www.techonthenet.com/excel/formulas/isdate.php So could you use an if statement like: if IsDate(cellvalue) == TRUE than format cellx as date ELSE format cellx int. or have it format as string so it'll accept anything then have the macro convert all the cell data to the same format. ie: 2-10-2014 2/10/2014 5 then the macro changes it to: 2-10-2014 2-10-2014 2-10-2014 (5days added to 2-05-2014 or what ever)

Buy a sport bike and a kid trailer.

That and it's also nice to use both if you need to do a lot of attenuating with high output setups.

(was Slightly disappointed) now Impressed with my XCON 15!!
ssh replied to hdrox88's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
This is just my opinion so don't take it as fact or from SSA: You said the xcon had way more output at lower frequencies than the other drivers, but that the other drivers sounded better at high frequency? The flip side of that coin is that those other drivers don't have the output that the xcon has at lower frequencies. I would consider that part of the design of the driver, and not a problem. That may seem frustrating to you because you may have expected it to excel at everything. I'm sure there's plenty of people that say the driver is very capable of playing up to 80hz with no problem and if there is any problem than it's in the design of the enclosure or amp settings, and they very well could be correct, but with ALL the drivers I've ever used I've always been the happiest with crossing them over in the 50-60hz range, and leaving the rest for midbass drivers. With the sub at 80hz 18db or 24db slope there always seemed to be a muddle sound in the higher bass region to midbass. I've experienced this with all kinds of drivers, not SSA in particular, ported enclosures, sealed enclosures, big boxes, small boxes. Then I lower my LPF and instantly everything was clear and the midbass was crisp. My point is this was universal for all drivers I've used from Sundown, Fi, SSA, and so forth. I don't see it as a problem of the driver, but rather trying to use it outside/near it's intended usage. Don't try and use something outside it's limitations to make up for another's lack in ability.
