HELP!! Weird voltage Issues
ssh replied to Jd377's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Just keep charging your batteries until you get the DC alt in. -
Was the voice coil burnt? spiders / tinsel leads torn?

HELP!! Weird voltage Issues
ssh replied to Jd377's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Your stock alt isn't producing enough power to charge your battery(s) and run your electrical equipment, computer ecu, ac, lights, etc. So the battery has to kick in and help run everything, so it's slowly being discharged, and hardly/rarely being charged from the alt. -

Just get the DC alt. It will fix all your problems. It's internally regulated, probably come with a bypass harness skipping the computers ecu. It's simple to install and setup. It will come with everything you need. -

Resting voltage for battery? Sounds like your stock alt is just old and worn, not working like it use to. Wear and Tear man. -

I'd have the car idling and put a dmm directly on the battery posts on the main start battery, make sure that voltage is the same as your lcd meter is reading. If it is, your stock alt sucks. Not a big surprise, temperature and rpm will cause it to fluctuate. There might be a possibility of your voltage regulator going bad if it sporadically goes up for a few minutes and goes back down with no heavy loads... Mine as well just get a h/o alt instead of replacing with new stock alt... Weren't you planning on getting a dc alt? -
Until you have a problem... perhaps

Excessive Amperage alt.

6 tweeters and mids sounds overkill. Tuned in though

where do you buy your wiring from?

Np I hear ya -

They should all read 0.0ohm Wire runs are so short they shouldn't be much if any voltage drop, perhaps if you used excessive amperage. Basics on calculating voltage drop: http://ecmweb.com/mag/electric_basics_calculating_voltage/ Any how, good luck. -
Keep us posted on any updates. Sound like some cool shit! Hmmm..............Might have been breaking the sound barrier.............How high above were they all? J I can't really say, but they felt like they were right next to me. Everything was so quiet except for their noise. It was so creepy, just like in a movie, the ominous silence right before the action happens and then boom, the flood of sound and action. Nothing on the news, nothing in the paper. I am thinking the blimp thing was a sherpa and it is more than likely military exercises. It is that time of month brother. J Sherpa like this?

Can't believe you just said that... That would lead me to believe there is a lower impedance peak, not efficiency. You're talking about SYSTEM efficiency right? There appears to be less voltage drop at tuning (where my voltage dropped significantly), but I still had the same audible output. If it takes less power to make the same output, the driver is more efficient. NSv1 did not have a shorting ring, Zv3 does, that means less inductance. Inductance, to put it as simple is possible, is wasted power in terms of efficiency. My impedance may have gone up at tuning (less power output, less voltage drop) and my impedance possibly went down at higher frequencies (more power, greater output) as my response leveled out above tuning. It used to be kinda peaky at tuning, Zv3 is not, and collectively as loud as the peaky spot was with the NSv1. Again, outside of subjective sound quality observations, the rest is speculation. I could see where different inductance would/could make the amp produce less power and thus less voltage drop, and as long as you measured the output from previous driver and new driver, and the output was either the same or better in the later, then I could see what you mean... I would be curious to run a sweep and record the results and compare to older version, just to see at which areas it's more efficient, if not all.

All the pictures were photoshopped... Seriously Valhalla! We're all getting ancy

All this talk about RCAs, has me wondering... What's an RCA?

Ford MLA module??
ssh replied to Spencerk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
OK now I feel f-en stupid thx you for the info guys and I will be picking up one of these two for voltage....plan on runnin a AQ2200D, I want to be able to be bumpin at a stop light in the summer with ac, fan on high, the wipers going and still hold 14.xx (like stock charging system) Can't you just get your alt set to 15.5v? That way depending on what all your running, even if it's drops a bit, everything's still being charged. I would like to have to option to set the voltage bc running a 12 volt bat at 15+ volt for extended amounts of time can cause damage to the batt. What batteries do you plan on using? I'd talk to Nathan from xspower about it. -

There are only so many letters in the alphabet that sound cool I use the letter Z as in SAZ line of amps... the Z letter in our line is right next to Nightshade. So... maybe there will be an NS amp ?! I think it sounds pretty cool

Anyone need some PE 800hz low pass 4ohm crossovers? Bought some and don't need them anymore...

You can post on monday and rub it in when everyone else is busy

Can't believe you just said that...

If only Quentin knew anything about boxes...

Meh... Love the logo on the bottom. Can't wait to see your review on them.
