An update on what's going on with our subwoofers
ssh replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
Thanks, but Mark is going to take care of that for us. Didn't know, it was worth a shot Does the motor still weigh 90lbs+, and if so, is this the motor for the divine or genisis? Pretty hefty. I'll probably be doing a smaller scale sq build in a few months, going to keep this in mind! -

Reminds me when I had my dips, I changed from bessel to butterworth filtering, got better at 10k, worse at 4k, crossed a little differently, moved the spikes around, got it better. Decided it wasn't all that important, got a few beers saw a movie, great day actually. Then I switched amps with 1% better efficiency and slightly lower THD, saw open season 2. Got everything back on an RTA for some measurements and decided I watched Open Season 2 but forgot to see the first one, silly me. Changed from kicker 8awg wire to stinger 8awg wire, the audible difference is amazing, much less clipping, can't hear as much bottoming out thank god. So... I'm sorry but I just had to. -
Matches the KTM in my garage I like the detail that goes into hand for your products, simple stuff, yet makes everything a whole lot easier.

Amp Cooling Problems
ssh replied to DarkTinman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
In your case your amp is not in a closed off area like a trunk car so your amp gets air flow No it's not in a trunk, It's mounted directly behind my rear window getting baked from 100+ degree weather from outside. And I've seen sundown amps in extreme situations with no problems. But it's hard to tell how much "air flow" there really is when the OP hasn't shown any pictures. It sounds like he has a good power supply too, so that shouldn't be an issue. My previous sundowns on a dc alt were barely warm to the touch, my current amp on stock alt with somewhat bad voltage drop likes to get toasty. -

I wonder if you switched amps if you'd still have a problem. I know my sundown doesn't have any issues. Or some Rockford BDs? -
Dc power ftw

Do you find your self not feeling motivated to do the other side? Cause that's how I felt Your doors are going to be premo midbass, If I'm ever remotely close to PA, We're listening to some Tool! -
There the same drivers. Right...?

Awesome plan, especially the part: once payment is sent, enclosure WILL be shipped within 7 days, timeframes and due dates ftw

I've never played with a Z, it'll depend on power your using, shoot an email to sundown or maybe jacob will reply to this if he sees it.

Its gotta be around 0.2cubes

You don't need another amp, sure it'll get louder, but may not be that much of a difference. I'd go with more cone area, better efficiency with the present power. Then if you decide you want more, get another amp or wall your car or get another car and wall it or 4th order with 20 12s or wire down to 0.25 or turn the gain up more.

What's your current draw from all amplifiers combined?

new DCON 10 and box in car response question
ssh replied to NucFusion's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Every setup I've had has been tuned in the 33-35hz range has been loudest in the 30-4xhz range and starts dropping off near 50hz and above. Sounds pretty normal to me. -
Not to rain on anyone's parade but there aren't that many icons sold, much less blown, and even lesser willing to let go for $80.00 Perhaps a blown / used Fi X or used dcon. Check out classifieds section on here and c....a.... Good luck

I haven't measured volume yet. I want .5^ft net. My guess is it is around .75-1^ft as is. The port diameter is 2". My tuning freq will be 65hz. That will give me a port length of 3.54". The only negative with ported midbass is that if a hpf setting at 60hz does not blend well with the sub bass system I am kinda screwed. A longer port length (to lower tuning) willl not be optimal based on my available enclosure pod depth. I forgot since it's midbass that it's tuned much much higher then subs and therefore way less port length At first I was looking and going that port looks big and I don't know how much depth you got. Should work out great though. Are you using the hpf on the amp or headunit? You should be able to play around with the hpf on the amp until it blends well. This is definitely one of those vehicles that I really wish I could bop down the road and get a demo. -
Came out great, good work man

Problem with stuff like that is it also attracts rodents, like a light bug zapper. At least in my experience

Pods are coming out great, on an awesome track What's the port length for the pods? Just eye balling it, looks like 0.4-0.6cubes for enclosure volume, and 4"-5" port diameter? -
Honestly the only thing that's worked for me: clear away any dead brush near parking area. Spray water under car and under hood every morning and night. Drive the car everyday (getting the engine area hot). And having bright lights near the vehicle. Perhaps some solar walk way lights around the driveway. Having the hood open helps (but makes your vehicle look like a piece of shit, I personally can't do it living in an HOA without getting my ass chewed out) Good luck
