when is sundown audio going to have some deals on here soon?
ssh replied to 05Trailblazer's topic in Sundown Audio
Good. -
We're clogging this thread. I'm sorry, Mark. If you want to continue this conversation I think we should start a new thread, or you should send me a PM, please. This is my last reply on this issue. It's all personal preferences on my part. I want things to work perfectly. 1/0 terminals with 1/0 wire. When my wire is too big for my lugs it's stupid having to work around it, but I understand that I'm mixing welding terminals and CA wire so it's my fault. That's why I bought welding cable this time around As far as the wire not being able to handle as many amps after being trimmed, i've always thought that was the case. But now thinking about it I could have been wrong this whole time! Losing some strands on the ends when trimming isn't going to hinder performance, or add resistance, or lower the amperage capacity.

Don't expect a company to just randomly throw a sale, especially because you just happen to want to buy now. If you can't afford new, but won't buy used, that's your problem. -
How about you add some helpful input or shut the fuck up. I apologize for coming across as a prick, but all T5wagon does is spew out crap about skar, no matter what it is, it's the best. ---- OP, it's very hard to gauge one's idea of SQ and loudness, as it's all relative, so many variables even aside from the equipment being used. Are you able to build your own enclosure, or are you having a shop do it? I would try a new box for your alpine, you may just find that they actually do sound really good with significantly more output. If it still isn't enough, then pull out the alpine and try another driver. Or save a few extra bucks and pick up some Fi ssds, or higher end used drivers is always a possibility. But firstly I would try a new enclosure (one that could also work with new drivers in case you decide the alpines aren't enough.) Just my two cents.

I've never heard a Skar driver, so I can't comment on how it sounds, but I despise the company itself so their products are automatically out in my book. But each to their own.

I just got some of those mids. But I will knock your subwoofer choice.

This thread needs to be closed... Don't take it personal Calvin, but it's like going to a truck show and saying "Which is better Chevy, Ford, or Dodge." And even so, your comparing apples to oranges. I suggest doing more research about each individual driver and what their each geared for. You'll then make a better decision, otherwise your going to wind up with people saying "xxx is better, its loud in my car, etc." -
Buy some expanded steel from mcmaster carr. Don't use aluminum, it will be too fragile. I found 22gauge Steel, hexagonal holes, 70-79% open, you think 22gauge is thick enough? Depends on how far away from the driver you're mounting. You'll always get some bend, the trick is to control it with thickness, shape, or mounting. If I can manage to bend it all the way around, that'll definitely add some strength, but I'm not sure how I'd successfully pull that off. I might be better off just finding a lower gauge, cutting it into a circle, then attaching to a thin baffle to space it out from the driver, then some rage gold around the edges for a nice smooth finish. There's a steel shop not too far from me, I'll check out what they have and "feel the amount of bend" in center. edit, Actually I guess I could cut a baffle to size, lay it on top of the circular steel, then start bending the edges up to the baffle, then apply rage gold on the sides / resin for keeping it together. Cut a circle out of MDF about 1/4" smaller than the diameter you need, round over one edge with a router, then lay your piece of metal over it and carefully hammer the sides over. I've done this countless times. If I had some scraps, I'd make a video for you. Sounds simple enough, thanks.

Got my tweeters in. The domes were smashed in, but popped out on their own. Hopefully there okay...

Like this: Black = spacer / baffle grey = bending mesh up.

Macgyver was awesome, I haven't seen it in many, many years. The last movie was ridiculous

I gave him my bottom dollar, at this point I just need the room in the garage. I just think he's broke or like sixteen years old, so broke lol. Which is understandable, but if I don't have the cash then I'm not gonna fuck around lowballing someone. Yeah I'll buy your 2008 m5 for $1200? Reminded me of this http://www.dontevenreply.com/view.php?post=63 Guy is never going to sell it...

Am not ! Finished a prototype LED power supply, cut some wood for the work bench and installed a huge vice, organized some stuff in the garage (ever since moving i nothing was in place) and put together a customer's SPL box. Sweet What sort of supply? Amplified zenner, it's in the pics, very tiny. Don't have an inductance meter yet to build a buck converter. High power app? Depends on what Darlington transistors I can find. Parts shop said they had some 60A ones. 50 LED's shouldn't be a problem for a 60A transistor. Went to a movie tonight otherwise the 9 LED proto would have been ready. Weekend out of town (company payed trip), maybe I'll finish it tomorrow afternoon Dying to see what yours is for Car, backhoe, anything that needs bright lights. I can imagine it now, adding LEDs to everything, your entire house is fucking LIT UP.

Ordered some edge veneer for making the kick pods flush mount. Anyone know of a good place to buy aluminum mesh for making custom speaker grills? I know at some point someone is going to step in my car, right on my kicks and go "sorry man."
