Alternator and Battery question
ssh replied to slim142's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Cheaper (not saying bad) battery charger: $100 Decent but not top of the line battery: $200(2) = $400 So your looking at around $500, will the batteries have enough reserve for the power your running? I don't know. Will the stock alternator supply enough amperage to keep the batteries well charged? Likely not. So you'll find yourself charging your batteries in the garage every few weeks? Or for some extra doe you could get a H/O alt that simply makes the power right from the get-go. I know what I would do, but that's just me. -
Technically you could use a 500watt rms per channel amp, it's all about setting the gain.

I have his door panels. There thin particle board, speakers aren't mounting on the OEM ones. I'm making a new door panels, then holding off on the lower section until he figures out if he wants to use these comps, both sets, or something entirely different.

The output from an amplifier is going to vary depending on the frequency being played. So you could have it hooked up to your "100rms amp" and in actuality the driver is being powered with much much less. If I were you, I'd buy an amp that fits your budget, fits your space, and advertises 80watts rms or more.

I got one of these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_29982_VIBE-Audio-LiteBox-Stereo-2-LiteBox2.html In great condition if your interested. Any amp you go with, just set the gain accordingly and you won't have any issues.

Tats... Jared and Teo.

What is it, in general? It doesn't appear to be a cochlear implant or bone anchored hearing aid. A device with a tailorable gain that vibrates the stapes. Pretty amazing what can be done now-a-days.

Vehicle? Max dimensions for an enclosure?

Always heart warming to see stuff like that.

Welcome to the forum, I think you'll like it here. Lots to learn, lots of people willing to help out, not too much drama. I came here about three years ago and no other forum comes close to SSA.

Alternator and Battery question
ssh replied to slim142's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Not that I have the cash for a charger available at the moment, but I could also add it to my list and start saving for one. On a side note, an alternator for my car is not near $350. DC quote was $600-$700. $350 for charger + ~$200 per battery (say 2), 350+200+200 = $750.00 And if your buying the higher end xs batts new, there more then $200.00... -

Alternator and Battery question

I'd rather drop the doe on the alt and not have to worry about adding more and more batteries and having to charge them weekly in the garage. I honestly don't know how many batteries you would need, or how often you would need to charge them. Figure you just posted about getting a $350 charger on top of the price of one or two more batteries. You could easily purchase a h/o alt for that cost. -
I'm going to have to say Hell Yeah!. Tons of super knowledgeable people and for the most part not a lot of nut-huggers spewing bs left and right. Also be sure to check out the Search function when your wondering about something, it's a goldmine of information.

Pretty fast CS right there.

I know there an extremely busy company, but that's no excuse for zero customer service, FI / AA isn't known for poor customer service, so not sure what's happening. I know they have two facebook pages, one is the usa, the other I believe is for a distributor in Europe (most of their posts are in Italian?), perhaps you posted on theirs and they just deleted it? Someone should see this in a day or two. Good luck.

I had fun in the Team Skar thread.

Yeah it gets old... and he doesn't seem to care... as long as it's something from the organization... he competes in...

It's so goddamn funny though. It's like a kid walking around a store spilling stuff and your following right behind cleaning up each mess.

Test tracks for a new sub install
ssh replied to TravisHardiman's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
Wow, ellipses and another reference to competition. Imagine that. You forgot the popcorn Randal. So far, I am surprised and not on the answers. Obviously goal dependent which you didn't define so that explains a few things. I'd encourage you to think about listening to something that will highlight the integration with the rest of your system as a test/setup CD. Goal: pleasure. Not sure if you took a look at the list of what I had so far or not, but I was just asking for suggestions of music (preferably that has been mastered well with a full spectrum) from any genre, that would take advantage of a subwoofer. Stuff I'd like to avoid is: bass cds, +0db sine waves, songs that have just been slowed down (or chopped & screwed, etc), and the Black Eyed Peas. Well a lot of the songs on your list are rap. Lots of rap gets loud, but personally isn't very pleasurable. Check out some stuff from the Blue Man Group.
