The MJ18 bigger than the JL 18? Don't know about SD, but it can move a little further. t/s specs if you're curious http://audiojunkies.com/forum/subwoofers/1046-mj-18-a.html http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/15_18W6_BDS.pdf Icon 18 will be ready shortly. Are you going to be offering them for $99+ shipping and will they work in 2 cubes sealed? That's Skar, silly.

Uhh no I'm not an asshole. I don't rattle people's houses in neighborhoods or shake rear view mirrors at stoplights. If my windows are down, my music is off. So if being respectful to others makes me all high and mighty then so be it. Dont take everything personal, if you dont do it then so be it. But believe you me there are people who say thats disrespectful but they are out there jamming windows down at stop lights. Just cause you have your bass down doesnt mean you arent still being disrespectful. I really don't take anything personal, especially from someone on a forum a thousand miles away. I have a seen a few threads where an OP says something along the lines of "I want to be heard from far away", and I almost always call them out on it. I just don't appreciate people doing it. I'm not trying to act high and mighty or superior in any way, I rarely voice my opinion on a matter, usually just stick to concrete information, but this is just one of my pet peeves...

For someone to check over my calculations, as in the sub recommends it should be in a 2.5cuft enclosure. I'm guessing this is just the enclosure and doesn't take into account for any baffles, sub and port displacement? So in that case the above should be correct? Sorry i'm probably being really stupid but this is my first box and want it to sound right. So in this case my port will be 3 x 13.7 x 26.3 = 0.62554 cuft. Am i right in thinking i add this to the initial 2.5cuft? Along with the sub and baffle displacements. Thanks Lets say you have a box made out of 3/4" mdf with a double baffle where the speaker mounts, dimensions 10"x10"x10" and the port happens to be 4"x2"x7". Subtract material thickness of 0.75 from 10", now you have 9.25", then there is the double baffle (0.75"+0.75"=1.5"), so 9.25"x9.25"x8.5" = 727.28" divide by 1728 to get cubic feet, 0.42ft^3 Then subtract port displacement. Lets say the port uses one of the outer walls so there's only one additional panel added. 4" height, 2" width, 7" depth. Only width needs additional accounting since it uses a 0.75" mdf panel. So 4x2.75x7 = 77 / 1728 = 0.044ft^3 0.42ft^3 - 0.044ft^3 = 0.376ft^3 net volume in this case. Hopefully my math was correct, I'm not 100% sober and it's 9am... At least you get the jist of things. Hope I helped.

Port displacement is the total space that is used for the port along with the wood. For example: port width: 4", port height: 6", port length: 8", 4x6x8= 192in^2 + the actual displacement of the wood used for the port.

If you want to be heard from far away, why don't you just mount your speakers outside of your car? You could also mount your amp on the hood, then you'd use less wire for your power and grounds.

That's great, rofl.

Try this one: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/index.php/downloads/enclosure-designs.html -
This is his facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/farrisaudio#!/farrisaudio Maybe you can contact some of his friends and see if anyone has heard from him. Good luck, hope everything is okay.

I never modeled them, just got the specs for you

What all are you using software wise? Just curious.

Yeah! Hilarious none the less.

Car Audio is a tiny segment for DC Power, and SSA is just a segment of CA that has an online presence. Just imagine how many people order and don't belong to forums, etc.

I don't have a cnc, but I found a bunch of plans / kits for building one. Range about 700 to 2k. Might do the 700 one next summer for a project. Should be very occupying. http://diylilcnc.org/
