    Jeep Patriot, SPL!

That's my plan, unless someone persuades me otherwise! With the port firing back, I'm worried about rattle. The door isn't very solid, and I don't plan on dampening it will early next year along with the new alt. How much of a difference do you think up vs back would make? And any ideas on tuning? From what I've read 34 seems good. They will be seeing near x2 the power, give or take because of stock electrical. But from what I've read with 6 cuft net, they should be able to hold their own. Only way to know is by testing. As to how much power they can take, Ive never used the drivers, nor do I want to suggest what they are / arent capable of. You can always adjust the gain accordingly.

Subs up, port back. Go with as much cone area as possible with adequate enclosed volume for ported. With 6cubes net 2 15" sundown SAs sounds like a good plan. Just my opinion. Since your listening to music with lots of low frequency bass, id tune around 30hz. You can download winisd and model an enclosure with a specific driver, and see how tuning changes things.
  4. Time for some glass on the sides I see. Looking good, as usual.

Whats the difference in the S version and D version?

Oh my bad, I didn't see that you were asking about the 3400, which doesn't have the metal, somehow I kept reading 1200. Nathan should see this on monday and help you out.

Whats the difference in the S version and D version?

I know this is old information but anymore clarification? Is there any point to the S battery if I say end up using audio terminal bolts on it??? Is it actually better for starting? Take S3400 and D3400 .... What is the real difference??? I want a new starter battery and I have a stereo with MAX output of 1.5k .... I'm 99% sure they are exactly the same except that the S has the standard terminals for a starting battery, and the metal protective case. I would definitely use the S version under the hood.

Spent all day doing the same thing minus the zero gauge. That would be one aught wire. Indeed, however it would funny to see the faces of workers at a welding shop when someone asks for "zero gauge."

    SSA's Evil SS Camaro. 4 Evil 15s and 2 DC 7.5ks

Just wondered, since not all of us drive with our heads in the kick. Well maybe you should try it! Ill have to look into how to measure there. Maybe ill test it one day. having the port right behind your head gets pretty uncomfortable at full tilt. Haha. I bet it gives a nice breeze, for a while i had the port behind my driver seat in the jeep, made my ears ring a lot quicker.

  13. With moderate volume, play a sine wave, does the loudness fluctuate? If so, turn stereo off, disconnect the speaker wires at the amplifier terminals, hook up a dmm on the terminals, set to volts, turn stereo back and play sine wave. The voltage reading on the dmm should slightly vary, if its jumping around like crazy (like how it was when playing songs), then either your amp has a problem or the input signal is bad.

Impressive score. Hows the scoring at the headrest?
  15. After checking the amp for protection lights when the volume is jumping around (or as you put it: cutting out), you could try using a 3.5mm jack to rca cable and plug your ipod into the amplifier (just start with the volume low because the input voltage going to the amp from the ipod will be different then the headunit), and see if the problem persists.
  16. oh my mistake idk why i put 8/0... its 12/0 lol HOLY!!!!!! I quit audio, i fail. You mean 8awg or 12awg. lol not 8/0 or 12/0 that's bigger then the wire on the power lines outside. hahahahahahaha.
  17. That was my first thought. If he was actually using 8/0 then possibly the terminals are short circuiting.
  18. Well now that it's not working correctly, whats your voltage at idle, and whats your voltage dropping to when playing music? An amp can never be too powerful, you can always adjust the gain, in your case lower the gain, creating less power output, and less amperage draw. (So it won't be as harsh on your electrical, but loudness will likely lower) When the bass would cut out, would it literally stop playing bass, then start playing again? Check the leds on the amp and verify that the amp is not going into some sort of protection mode / turning off. Depending on the above, I would take the driver out of the enclosure and visually inspect the tinsel leads and coils. Could also try putting a dmm set to ohms on the speaker terminals and push up and down on the cone, see if the reading ever changes and drops to 0.

    18" BTL N2 Box Design

Aside from what Alton and Rick said about port wall thickness, your port is partially external, meaning only part of it affects the enclosure volume, with the information you listed we have no idea how much of the port is inside the enclosure and how much is outside.

Nope. Even in Indiana and Michigan where we have horrible snows and freezing conditions, they make it as thing as possible to conserve money. You would think after 50-60 years of perfecting asphalt, they'd realize if they put it down thicker the first time, it wouldn't degrade and potholes would not be a constant issue. Budgetary continuity. Keep spending something every year or their budgets will go down. same thing happens with us in the military, If we have excess at the end of the FY they take our budgeting down a notch. So they get frantic and start buying useless shit or giving people all kinds of new gear, etc. The genius of an ever growing, increasingly less efficient and disconnected government. If you were in the military you would think this ten fold. I was DOD for a while, then DOD contractor. Oh snap!

    wtf? dc power

Say you had a thread on here between dc and your order, and all of a sudden poof, it's gone. Obviously one can just go over to smd, register, and start a new thread about their order / issue, but I'm sure it worried people at first when they came on SSA and all of a sudden dc power is gone and there going "what just happened to my order? Did I get scammed? What's the status? Wtf just happened?" Their section has not been deleted, it was simply put in the Archives.. I've had no problems with DC, as someone once said awhile back.. "You'll hear about 1 mistake but you will never hear about the 100 success stories". See Post #3

Haha when I saw that and he told the guy "yeah we'll have it to you in a few days, you have my word" I couldn't help but to start thinking of what their excuses would be a month or two later. I didn't. I thought: "if only that held true for all customers, not just ones televised."
