Depending on where your gain is set, that is a terrible idea.

Don't see very many fiberglass builds on here. Tuned in.

You need a SSF, otherwise the drivers will play below enclosure tuning and likely bottom out. Hlab makes inline crossover filters called fmod, 20hz hpf is black(red label) and 30hz hpf (red label) is double black. http://www.hlabs.com/colors/ 20hz still leaves a fair amount of room for problem, 30hz will reduce some of the bottom end output. Or get a simple sound processor / crossover. Notes under 20hz make my car shake though, I don't want to get rid of them! They won't necessarily be gone, but they will be attenuated. If your that adamant about it, build a new box that's tuned lower, and of course there are drawbacks to this. Or leave it as is, and if your speakers stop working, don't complain. Should I get the 20hz to match hearing, or 30hz to match my tuning? I just looked at sonic electronix and didn't really see any relatively cheap and basic sound processors that had a ssf/hpf below 30hz. If you get the 20hz, your low end output won't suffer much, but the 30hz will reduce a bit of the bottom end, but it'll be safer. If it was me, I'd play it safe and get the 30hz.

Well with the description provided I can't say anything for certain as to what exactly your problem is or how it occurred, but I can promise you that without a SSF those drivers will not last as long as they should.

A better description of the sound would help. What type of enclosure? Ported, tuning? Whats your ssf set to on your amp? How'd you set the ssf? Is it on one specific song, or happening on various songs?

All amps are going to draw more current when the voltage is lower. Rudimentary example: Target output is 1000watts. V*A=Watts 14.4v*70a = ~1000watts 12v*83a = ~1000watts 10v*100a = 1000watts Something about the way JL describes their R.I.P.S power supply made me think it draws more than most "standard" power supplies... Good read: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/diyma-sq-forum-technical-advanced/89221-how-does-rips-jl-audio-work.html

You can try giving your batteries a good charge and see if that helps stiffen the float voltage, and/or you need more battery reserve IF you want better voltage at idle.

It's a Transmission line box center area isnt needed for anything so it was dubbed dead space But a Transmission line would require the same port width throughout the entire box. According to your specs, it varies by a few inches here and there.

I need it for gift, for my W. ah, just wondered what you would be processing.
-
I figured that comment was coming.

Looks nice, just make sure your happy with the amp settings. (I'm actually in the same boat)
-
Jared, whatcha need a food processor for?

My W is a part time accountant for my father-in-laws biz. She hates it but it pays good. Plus she does it all from home. I know a few accountants making some good money, but I think I would get sick of it fast.

I don't see why not, as long as it's the same model.

Let's crunch some numbers.

why are stetsom amps so pricy???

Sir, I think you should get the award for having the largest signature on SSA !!! And you, for not using ... in a post. -
I mine as well make this one useful. For Teo and everyone else not gay. and... 6k posts, I'll be back in a year.

So close--must spam IHOP.
-
Must be doing something right with those TL results and setup. Looking forward to your build(s). Welcome to SSA.

How was your gain before using the DD-1 and now? example: 10 oclock, now 2oclock. Just curious.

What does your front stage consist of? Setting the LPF is preference based, but that's also because it's dependent on what speakers it's mating with. For example let's say your front stage consists of a pair of 5 1/4" component set speakers with lack-lustering midbass, then perhaps setting the LPF to 100hz may be a good starting point. Or your front stage consists of some bigger size speakers that have no problems playing midbass with some punch, then perhaps you should set the LPF lower.
