Thinking of porting my kicks with some flex pvc tubing, 2.5" ID, Vent mach should be under 14 m/s, and should give a big peak in mid bass region, and I can always tone it down, and adjust transitioning per say. Anything wrong with flex tubing as a port, I figured I'd run it half way up the dash, then make a hole and grommet on back of kick for easy connection.

I've been using my ms8 with all it's fancy processing set off, only using crossovers, for the last four months or so. With the processing on, imaging dramatically improved, but vocals and instruments seemed shallow, and midbass was lacking. I know the ms8 is designed to yield a flatter FR and gets rid of the artificial midbass bump a lot of people including me are use to and enjoy. The max acceptable listening volume also decreased with the processing on, imagine turning the volume knob down four or five clicks (rough idea). Turning the volume knob higher then set before / adjusting gain does not alleviate the problem, it only introduces a "scratching", "scraping" sound. Visibly the cone is barely moving more then a few mm. I'm hoping with the new kicks they will overall improve the FR, hopefully less issues will have to be adjusted by the ms8, and of course I can play with the EQ to help gain that midbass and "fullness" to the vocals, while having the processing set back on. I've changed the crossover points and slopes to see if that reduced the "scratching", "scraping" sound, and it did not help one way or another. Tried lower crossover point and steep slope, higher xo point steep slope, and everything in between. I'm beginning to think more power and headroom will solve the loudness issue. I'm considering two of these aura 2x150watt and running each to an exodus ex-anarchy (Re 6.4ohm, 125w rms). Currently I'm using an eclipse amp (4ohm 75w). Terrible idea?

Did you buy any RC cars while you are at it?

We had all terrains, and km2s, loved them.

I have not personally used any of these products. But the general consensus is the resin made for marine use is not as brittle, and has a little give if thats what you are concerned about. As far as the fiberglass, use the woven cloth and do it with one piece when possible as AC guy said. I also recommend the "gold bondo" if possible, but no neccesary. I know AC dude does this for a living but I honestly thing he is over thinking it. Use the resin and bondo you can find locally and go for it. This is my favorite quote for the AC guy in your link " ...And it's not about craftmanship. A trained monkey can do it. it is all about the proper tools and the proper knowlede." I SOOOO disagree, Its all about craftmanship and having a plan before starting. KNOW your control points, only worry about your control points, and don't fiddle fuck with the plan out of inpatience. ONLY worry about your control points. Next is a quote from you "...Yeah I soaked the cloth in resin, then cut strips of fiberglass mat and placed them everywhere, then dabbed them with a brush til they soaked the resin, then waited about 15 minutes and did another layer of mat and resin." I suggest having your single piece of woven cloth cut roughly to size(always alittle big), then resin the pod first, lay the woven mat on the pod, then finish by brushing more resin over the woven cloth. DO NOT do another layer of woven cloth or resin until first resin is dry. I used two pieces on each pod and just delt with the minor little seam via bondo. My dash pods in there too. These where my last pods I built for the 10"s. I have a different setup now with the 12"s. I just need to sell these one's to someone wanting 10"s in their Honda. Thanks for the info, I'm going to lay down the piece as one instead of cutting it, and use a roller to smooth everything out. Going to try some cab-o-sil + resin after the last layer. I think some pick it up quicker then others, but knowing all the tricks to the trade helps. Pods look awesome, by the way.

Just something to consider: Ryan from Ram Designs on the forum makes enclosure designs, cutouts, etc. He's priced extremely fair, and couldn't make building an enclosure any easier, unless of course he came over to your house and did it himself.

sub description shows: "2 12" fi BL's to 33hz."

I'll let someone else chime in on that. Aero ports can be used to save a little bit on port displacement, but they won't work magic.

Congrats, I had them on the explorer. What you said about the explorer's suspension is always in the back of my head when I think about suspension changes. I have softer, oval bushings in the control arms, loads less vibrations transferred to the body. Trying to get a balance between rough road comfort and on-road stability. It is a box on 2 sticks after all though so I won't ask much... Which part of what I said? IIRC at some point you said that the Explorer ended up with a too firm ride from poly bushings and other upgrades. And that makes me think "keep it simple" That is because it was the combination of shocks, springs, mounts, sway bars, bushings and steering stabilizer. Here is the aforementioned sway bars going on some many years ago: Those pictures look like "See, I do stuff on the car!"

I'm assuming the 35" x 14" is the speaker baffle panel. Also assuming your using 0.75" thick wood, and double baffle. I got 4.3014 ft^3 BL displacement: 0.18 ft^3 *2 = 0.36 ft^3 4.3014 - 0.36 = 3.9414 ft^3 Port Area: 50 in^2 Port Displacement: 1.021 ft^3 Port Length: 35.28 in Tuning: 33.5hz Net enclosure volume: 2.92ft^3

You sent it in during the busiest time of the year, they will get back to you, just give them a few more days.

Now I'm the fool.
-
Because you blew them all? No, I pulled them out when making the bases for the new kick panels.

Shouldn't be an audible difference.

Sure it does, only those paying attention understand. Did u try it out? Also try "Kop a Chicken" by Juiceman I'll have to try later, I blew all my speakers yesterday, gotta get them replaced first. Damn. that sucks dude! Don't worry about it, it's not as bad as you think. Aight. What subs u workin with? Okay enough! I can't take the guilt any longer! My speakers didn't blow. I've been pulling your chain this entire time, starting from the "You need a loud stereo to listen to this or you'll melt your speakers" statement. I took a sarcastic approach to your warped understanding. Oh lol. Well play the songs them your subs should handle them I'll try later, I actually don't have any front stage speakers right now (building new kick panels), and bass alone sounds terrible.

They didn't melt, they just screeched really loud, made a whooping sound, then a "skkkiiissh", then "crrrrr", then blew. I'm getting some new crescendo pa mids though, there rated for like 250watts, and Twistedchild420 uses them, so they have to be good.

How loud does the setup need to be? I once managed a 137dB on a termlab. Is that loud enough so I don't melt the subwoofer? Yeah it should. What subs do you have? My friend play it on his 15" cvx in a 6cuft ported enclosure tuned to 27hz and it didnt do any damage. It sounded very good Sarcasm doesn't translate well on the Internet. Sure it does, only those paying attention understand.

I'm wondering the same. Well, let's see. Given the chinese driver, they're paying maybe $40-50 for the driver, then add in shipping to bring it over here and packaging, being extremely generous they are at, let's say $100 per driver. One driver costs $2 more than the other, so you multiply by whatever arbitrary number they use and when it's all said and done, that $2 turns into $65. Muck less expensive than that.. 40-50 SHIPPED. Speculating much?

^^ couldnt agree more been throwing 3000 at mine for some time now and it loves it If this board had a gold sticker emotion, I would post it right here.
