    Welcome to the IHoP

meat either. Listen to this song for a minute or so: https://www.box.com/shared/static/zzcbyduvxcsb2xqe3up2.mp3 It has this sound like something dropping / clankling every thirty seconds or so. I was listening, and thought someone in the other room behind me was fucking around with a beer cap and glass or something. I swear it sounds like it's coming from behind.

    Optimal Icon enclosure

Shouldn't notice much if any difference between 1.35ft^3 and 1.5ft^3 Generally the larger the enclosure, the more efficiency, and greater likelihood of being louder.

With absolute certainty, I will never collect Ipods and smartphones, but I understand nostalgia. Only thing I'd currently consider collecting is cars, motorcycles, and art. Looking at pcb boards doesn't exactly get my juices flowing.

Because the quality was very good. I have a small collection myself. But do you use it all? Or simply look at it all in a display?

I don't understand why people like collecting amplifiers, decks, and speakers made in the 80s and 90s.

    Another happy SSA costumer

    Great to hear.
  13. I can't say I know much about your crossover network, and how the new driver will blend in. You'll have to post your results after installation.
  14. A driver is less efficient playing frequencies below it's Fs (free air resonance); however, this value shifts in an enclosure alignment. In your case, the value will rise, as the enclosure creates an "air spring." The larger the enclosure volume, the less this value will rise. This could perhaps be a reason as to why larger enclosures are sometimes strived for. As to your other thought, other factors certainly come into play, ie: motor force. That's why generally it's a bad idea to focus on one parameter, and ignore others. Will the SSA xcon and Fi Q have different frequency responses? Of course. But will they lack the output your concerned about because of their higher Fs values? Most likely not.
  15. Can't do much to baffle, unless you removed the carpet, laid another sheet of wood over, made same cutouts for drivers and port. At that point, mine as well just build another box. You can add bracing to the interior, which make null out "no double baffle" issue, and depending on the bracing, it could displace enough volume to lower the enclosure volume, and raise tuning. Raising tuning may improve the port area issue, but certainly isn't perfect. Higher tuning may or may not be desired either, depends on your preferences and goals. Since you already have the enclosure, mine as well try it out, and see if your ears are content.
  16. The given port area may introduce port noise, but it will definitely affect the output. Ideally you want the vent mach to be under 10 m/s.
  17. Since when does port area have any correlation with volume?

Or early June. Everybody loves late July / August for vacations. Personally I don't June may swing. Thanks. Grills, a-pillars, and trim piece for the doors! Come visit, fucker I'll show you good places :)That list of stuff to finish has been similar to mine for the past 2 years...I still haven't finished the driver's side kickpanel Never enough time to finish stuff, only start. haha If next June works in my budget, and fits my schedule and friend's, I'll be be down.

Stefan, i said happy bday to you on bookface but you didn't acknowledge me If it makes you feel any better, I didn't acknowledge any of my family members either, didn't acknowledge anyone directly. However, I did say: "Thank you everyone."

  24. Well, a corner brace spanning 15" in width is ridiculous if you ask me. Then again, a smaller brace around 3" - 4" may not really brace anything on a relatively large enclosure. Either way, people can figure out the displacement on what ever they decide.
