That's the entire reason for the vent mach page... Otherwise the ported page would have to ask all the same questions. I was talking about if I was just wanting to plug in measurements from an existing box that i have to see what the vent mach would be. That's the entire reason for the vent mach page... I was talking about if I was just wanting to plug in measurements from an existing box that i have to see what the vent mach would be. You can use the vent mach page for that since it's based on the driver t/s specs, port area, tuning, and power. Just plug in your current driver's t/s specs, power, enclosure tuning, and enclosure's port area.

Well mercury doesn't have much to do with flavor. But I do admit I often eat some pretty bland shit, and im a terrible cook.

http://www.wfoa-tuna.org/health/ralstonraymond.pdf Of course that must be written by some hippy college that has a tuna agenda, huh.
-
Yeah I scramble before putting on pan. Tuna has more selenium than mercury, its fine.
-
What's wrong with so many eggs in pan? I just throw a ton in, but I also scramble them. Not a gourmet chef.

There is one problem with calculating port Mach with power input like WinIsd does. Nearly all subs now a days use progressive spiders. Never thought about that. Curious how much of a difference that would cause.

I had it set that way so they have to refresh if they use slot. Otherwise they'll input slot and it'll still have the cached info on aeros, then it wont know which to use. I could have it switch back and forth if they didn't input anything.
-
Okay I added the displacement of one port wall for the slot port.
-
It uses the port area * port length / 1728. So it doesn't account for material thickness. I figured it wouldn't matter for the aeros, or the slot, but with the slot it actually does account for a bit. I'll change that. Okay I added the displacement of one port wall for the slot port.

Perhaps I should add an excerpt on vent mach. For now I'll just say that vent mach / port speed is the speed at which air is being excited in the port. If it's too high it causes port noise, and port compression. The more port area you have, the lower the port speed will be--generally (I say generally because changing the tuning frequency also effects this speed). What affects vent mach? port area, tuning, and a driver's ability to displace air. It's calculated from a driver's t/s specs, power, tuning, and port area. So port area isn't dependent on enclosure volume, sorry 12-16 rule. I've used your ports galore and figured a nice box for my Xcon but I think it's too big for me.... At least to get it within the tuning and port area.... not sure but that one I've been using seems to be off in comparison to Torres when you look at slot port length.. Not sure but it's not the same as Torres What was too big for you? I'm not entirely sure what the Torres calculator is based off of, and what it does and doesn't account for, so I can't really comment on it one way or another. This site is based off the port length formula from the loudspeaker cookbook, and accounts for displacement of an additional mounting baffle, driver, and the port. For what it's worth, it also happens to be the same as winISD for everything I've tested.

I'll add that later.

Is the actress from Weeds? Either way, mmmmmm

Laughing at stupid people getting pissed about someone who was doing 90 at 10pm on freeway with no traffic. Oh man.

i remember watching a video on bonobos' in anthro, really interesting species compared to chim. practically nonviolent (no recorded violence when two different groups of bonobos meet). So tthey just eat and fuck randomly, what a life. Yep that was them. Use fucking to reduce tension, rivalry, etc. Got a problem? Let's just fuck it out.

Online, or at a hotel? Online. Have until 10/23 to complete or they suspend my license Who the fuck has ever had a functioning fax machine in their vehicle? rofl. Ouch. Last week I drove 500 miles for a trip, and sped the entire fucking way. Had a few close calls with some sneaky cops parked behind trees and shit, but never got pulled over. So now I'm driving sorta slow because I feel like I've pushed my luck.

Jesus. Just walked around with a broom, and bucket?

One thing I should add. Depending on how loud what ever it is your setting the gain on, you may need to step away to notice any distortion. IE: 2 18s and 4kw. Near it at any reasonably high level is well above our ears' sensitivity, and you'll have a harder time noticing any distortion. But you just said to set my gain by ear and now you say my ear will have a hard time noticing it so i just turn the volume up until i smell my subs? lol Close up, don't hear any mechanical noise? Good, now give your ears some distance so the loudness is reduced, and you'll be able to tell if it's distorting or not. ------ That's part of the reason why products like dd-1 can be profitable, not everyone can put two and two together.

This is the most helpful post ive read on the DD-1, I was dumb and blew the money on one. Its got some uses but not many because music also has more distortion than a sine wave. I can set my gains with the DD1 on sine waves but as soon as I put on music to check it, its showing distortion. Only really thing ive liked it for is for testing songs to see which have a lot of inaudible distortion. Also makes you look more professional when you pull out it to tune someone's system. Although I just tune it by ear any ways. It can also show one's ignorance. The thing is most people that are hiring someone to do an install are ignorant, not saying you should spout out but when you don't work at a shop and they want to know they are in good hands it always helps to have something to show that at least looks professional and makes them feel better about leaving their vehicle with you. If they ask about something give them an explanation, plain and simple.
