I loved it. It is violent like all the recent bond movies. But does some cool explaining. It felt a lot like the new batman. Looooooong but mooved fast. Sweet. I really liked the latest Batman.

The reason why some of us are leaning towards active isn't so much about SQ, but just opening the door to speakers with more "oomph" to get the front stage output closer to the sub-bass output. Another thing that hasn't been addressed, and can make a very big difference is sound deadening. Aside from quieting the door panel so it doesn't rattle, you want the panel that the speaker is mounted to to be sealed as much as possible, otherwise it'll kill your midbass. IE: http://blog.stefanhi...1-51-46_959.jpg Notice the large opening to the right, and various holes. I covered those up with cld tiles, then applied a sheet of mlv over it: http://blog.stefanhi...2-47-48_674.jpg So with some slight dremel work to the door, is 6.5" the largest speaker you can fit? Next, what about depth? Be sure to measure with window glass down. Any room for using spacers if depth becomes an issue? If so, how much?

Matt, did you see the new Bond movie? Was it awesome? I bet if Sean watched it he would call in sick for a month, and watch movies all day.

Strong legs, eh ? You see the soccer pictures I posted a month ago? Yep, yep Looking at pictures of Aaron's legs, and coworker walks by: "WTF?" Chick's dig the massive quads. Some girls in class this week were talking about how guys with huge upper bodies, and chicken legs look retarded. Thankfully I'm equally proportionate. ROFL

I have a feeling Sandt and Bigjon will.

You calling me lazy, asshole!?!?!

Nice and slim. Should be easy to mount, and here I thought it was going to be some bulky box.

Speakers in the front make up your front stage.

Pretty funny stuff. Let me bridge the gap. An 18" subwoofer has a lot of cone area, so it produces a lot of output. In order for the front stage to be balanced with this output you need a lot of cone area--at least for the midbass - midrange region. The higher frequency range doesn't require much, so it's not an issue. So basically you have a lot of cone area in the sub-bass region, and require a fair amount of cone area in the mid region to seek some balanced sound. You aren't willing to fabricate your doors, so your severely limited to what the stock door panel can hold. This is where you compromise. No one is being an asshole to be an asshole. Super-tweeters have crazy output for high frequency, but at the cost of bandwidth, and possibly sound quality. Your biggest issue or factor is the midbass - midrange, not high frequency. Most component sets have mid drivers with a higher bandwidth to mate with their smaller tweeters, but they also more than likely sacrifice output for that bandwidth extension. You can use some component set with a 6.5" speaker in the front (use an adapter from 6x8 to 6.5), it won't be balanced, but it might be enough for you. Or go active, and if done right you'll be a lot closer to balanced. For what it's worth I had an 18" ICON in a sealed enclosure, my front stage uses a 6.5"-7" driver for the mid region, and although it offers a lot more midbass output then most other setups the icon would still easily overwhelm it. So 99% of the time I had the icon turned down, so the overall sound was more balanced, and more enjoyable.

Well on the bright side they'll be working now. ----- Aaron, make a NSFW thread. Have it only show up for regulars so no body get in trouble, oh and make me a sandwich--I mean tuna I don't eat grains. That didn't come across as too demanding did it?

Trying to link just the image, not the site. The sites have annoying pop ups. I wish I had known this before. I'll address this in future links. Glad we got that taken care of. *in serious voice*

Your links never work, only the images do.

Those do look promising, LG and razr maxx. Time to read reviews.

There isn't any reason to use a super-tweeter in your car unless your into SPL, and don't care about any quality of sound. The Crescendo super-tweeters look nice, so you presume they also sound nice. That isn't the case. Their frequency response leaves much to be desired, and the bandwidth is limited. I doubt anyone is going to recommend anything Skar related. The owner has proved to be a sketchy conniving asshat, and he doesn't know jack about speakers. Not a good combination IMO.

How much is the part that hooks up to the droid? I occasionally get a CEL on WOT, IIRC it was a misfire on cylinder 4, but I've replaced all the wiring, injector, sparkplug. If only it had a mini cat5 hook up. $12 for the hardware $4.95 for the software. Pulls all OBDII sensor information in real time. Also calculates accel, gas mpg, hp (when you input weight) and so on. Pretty cool. I bought it for my boat actually when it was being a bitch. Found out that GM allows non-OBD rips onto their computer so it plugs in but won't read MEFI (Marine) stuff. Could have returned it, but it's way too cool and cheap to do that. Ultra cool if you have a Droid h/u. Uses bluetooth to communicate. Yeah the droid tablet + that is pretty sweet. Sure as hell isn't linking up with my Ipad, but if it records as well then my droid phone is fine. Speaking of phones. I'm up for an upgrade this month. I sort of despise Apple, and their new Apple Maps that replaced Google Maps is a fucking joke, but the new phone is fucking slim. Also be stepping back as far customization, and control over phone with apple os vs droid, but at the same time I don't really do any techy shit with it any ways. Motorola has a new razr that's super slim, but I had an old old razr, and it was a piece of shit. In fact I've never been fond of any motorola phones. Just looked down at my droidx, and read "motorola." Son of a bitch! Actually though it's been great aside from the microphone not working. I always have to walk around on speaker phone to talk to people, the complete jackass.

Need advice on purchasing used 2005 RE XXX 15
ssh replied to sexterra's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I don't know what the driver is worth, and I don't know how much he's asking, so I don't know if it's a good deal. If it was only rubbed then the goop is more then likely fine. Certainly aren't going to hear any weird anomalies from it. As to whether the box is decent, once again no specs, no idea. The one thing I do notice is the depth between the driver and ground seems pretty slim. -
Better watch it past the 0:15 mark

Be happy it isn't vehicles. My truck threw me a CEL and got all chuggy durring the last sprinkle. FML Uhh my car is always fucked up. Pack rats cause mayhem. For the last six months I've been dealing with starting issues. Sometimes it fires right up, other times I have to sit there for a few minutes... I'll turn the key all the way, and makes zero noise. Try again, nothing. Try again, nothing. Again, boom it starts. I've checked the starter and starter solenoid, so it might have something to do with immobilizer, or I don't fucking know. All I know is it's stressful at times. Check all cabling. I might lift it this weekend to check the pads, so while I'm at it I'll test it with some extra 1/0 wire I have laying around.
