Picked up a little something today. Haven't hooked them up yet but for $5 a piece they will at least make good decorations if they don't work.

DylanH replied to Julian's topic in Videos
I've heard his truck when he had all his woofers going last season. Was pretty intense, wish I could have sat in it though. -
There has to be some more blazer builds out there. I'm looking for inspiration

I'm looking at getting a single Death Penalty 21" for a daily driver. What would you guys recommend for an amp?

SSA Desktop Wallpaper thread...

Need a Zcon background!!!!! -
What would you rather do? 6 cheapish 12's in a sealed box or 1 awesome 18 in a decently big ported box? Both would be on the same power (2500 rms) But 6 12's has alot more cone area but a sealed box. 18 has less cone area but a ported box 18 would be a bit cheaper and better quality. But 6 12's have more cone area lol. So what do you guys think? If you have any other suggestions, I have up to 8 cubic feet before displacements. Have 2500 rms. Thinking bout running the Zcon or something similar for the 18. The 12's would be infinitys

Did you have 1 18? lol and do you have any designs or anything I could look at? What was the best sub/port orientation? Yeah I ran a RE SX 18 for a little bit. It was in a 5.5cu.ft. box tuned to 32. The 2 15s were older Memphis subs, well there were new back then. They were the SHPs if I remember correctly(this was back in 02-03ish). I wish I had thought to take pictures back then. I never even thought that I may want to look back at these setups one day. Oh to be young and stupid again. Did you ever meter them? and could you do a hairtrick? lol Na never did, there were not very many opprotunities(shows and stuff) at that time in the sticks of south MS. haha alright. So, why do you guys say 2 15's would be louder than the 6 12's just out of curiosity

Hmm alright. I don't switch unless my vehicle completely craps out lol if I can fix it I do. But another thing is I was thinking I could run 1 18 for awhile then when I get the balls to wall it I can add another 18 and won't have to buy at least a new sub.

So, 2 SA-15's or 1 Zcon 18?
-
So is everyone saying 2 15's lol and 3k on 1 z18?
-
Hmmmmmmm I'm really thinking bout it! I'll do some more research on them after work
-
Don't choose a sub by its rms rating for starters. All the subs mentioned will be fine on your amplifier if you are smart about it. A single 18 is more in line with your budget. If you decided to go with a single 18 I would suggest the ZCON or BTL for what you've described. Not all SSA products are SQ based. The ZCON is geared towards SPL, but SSA will not make a product that doesn't sound good. Well for single 18 I was thinking either a Zcon or a Sundown Z 18 2 15's I was thinking SA-15's or Icon 15's
-
Dang, it won't let me edit the poll
-
What would you guys suggest for SSA Subs? I don't know much about them except they are more sq based and have nice lows lol what would handle the power? For 2 15's
-
I'm kinda thinking 2 Sundown SA-15's now lol But they are Infinity Reference previously run by Irpirate with 16 12's in a 4th order wall I'm gonna sleep so i'll check this in the morning before work Goodnight all
-
Wow! I forgot all about 15's lol What 15's would you suggest?

Do you know if you can fit the box required for either of those options in the ranger? I think it is easier to go with the single ZCON if your experience is minimal. If 500 is your total budget you wont be able to afford a zcon and amp and the electrical you will likely need to back it up. The ZCON 18 is 480 plus shipping if I'm remembering correctly. I don't know if you've considered the cost of wiring and wood etc as well. I wouldn't say my experience is minimal and I know where to go if I have any questions. I have $500 for just the sub. Already have an amp in the works if I can talk the guy down a little more on the price lol I have the 1/0 already and 8 gauge speaker wire. I have 8.24 cubic feet (before displacement) in my truck. I just measured today.

Goal-Loud daily Budget-Cheap lol $500 Vehicle-2000 Ford Ranger Extended cab no wall! Experience-Not a crazy amount but I know a little more than the basics I guess lol I know how to set my gains if thats what your wondering Electrical as of right now is just big 3 plan on adding a nice battery up front and going from there

Ohh, I was just using Torres's calculator lol

What box type would you guys reccomend for 2 SA-12's on a Saz-2500D? I have a normal ported box around 3.5 cubes tuned to 35 hz that i'm gonna put them in when I get them but would like to start designing a new box so I can get it designed and built as soon as possible. Not looking for numbers just a loud and low daily driver. I know 4th orders are really efficient if designed right. But what about 6th orders and I don't know much about horns but would love to learn. I have up to 6 cubic feet to play with, Extended cab Ford Ranger no wall so its a wide and tall box not very deep Short version 4th Order Bandpass 6th Order bandpass T-line Horn Which is best for a loud daily driver?
-
Well i have 4 cubic feet before port displacement 2 4"s would only have 6.34" per cube
-
I can go 15 deep but then I would be sitting like straight up and pretty close to the steering wheel. So I may just mess with ported boxes. Thanks for saying that though. Oh and I have heard that ports firing to the side is best so i may build something like that. I'll probably just drop the tuning on the box I have now though. Any ideas on the amount of port area? I'm gonna be using aero ports Thanks for your help guys
