This car's wheel hubs have the same bolt pattern as the Ford Rangers trucks and Mazda trucks ... My dad is running a NICE set of Mazda wheels on his 49. Think I scored on a very nice set of Ford Ranger Stock Aluminum wheels with good "hard to find according to used tire shops" 15" tires on them ... Nothing I plan to keep on this ride forever, but should look alot nicer than those stock and totally rusted steel wheels ... I will post pics if the deal goes through, and hopefully I will have them to install on the car this weekend ...

This is where we are at now ... Behind Dad's shop on blocks. We have the brakes completely tore apart waiting on parts ... we are going to completely rebuild the Master Cylinder and Wleel Clyinders and replace the rubber brake lines. From what we can tell, the "hard line" brake lines are fine ... For now Will I ever replace the drum brakes with power disc brakes ??? Yea later when I have the time and money. But for now, the drum brakes should work just fine ...

Interior ... Well, there isn't any ... LOL What do you think about our temporary gas tank ?? It works !!! As soon as the primary things are done to make this a running / driveable vehicle ... This will be my first place to start rebuilding and customizing !!! As you can see, we have plenty of room to work with when we get ready to set her up for stage and image !!!

She has a 6 volt charging system that will HAVE to be changed to a 12 volt system before any Electronic modifications are done to this vehicle ... This motor will crank up and run great !!! Just needed a hot battery and a gallon Jug of gas ... We drove it to the work location !!! To date, My dad has restored 6 of these cars (I worked on most of them as a kid) ... He has 2 left, the one he is working on now and this Black one. It was bought about 12 years ago to be restored and for the most part, work has been done to it, but put aside SEVERAL times for other vehicles ... He plans to restore the Blue one, but has no intrest in selling the Black one. So, he gave it to me so it would stay in the Family. Over the years the car has been cranked up and moved around in the yard and has been driven up and down the road a few times, but for the most part, sits under the old tree in dad's back yard just waiting for someone to give it some TLC ... We've taken a hot battery and a jug of gas out into the field and cranked up his old cars for years !!! Now all of them are gone (primarily cause of his bad health) except the two 49 sedans ... I'm sure down the road that I will end up with both of them but I am definately not wanting to push that issue !!! He wants to see them completly fixed up and restored before he dies (his words) ... But I have plans to customize mine. Just to see how it turns out ...

all of which is a matter of your opinion ... LOL All I was saying Sean was that there is a big difference between the topic amplifiers (one that I quoted from the first post in this thread) and the class d full range that Brad spoke of ... one will go completely fullrange and the other will go no higher than 200 htz. While I was reading the first page of this topic, I was understanding that the discussion was on Class D amplifiers for Sub Bass only ... Not full range Class D amplifiers. Please forgive me if I was wrong on this understanding ... I never spoke bad about any product or person in this topic ... And I'm not sure why you brought LP up considering they do not make any class D amplifiers, or why you would talk bad about Scott's company (or a few other brands as you say) and products (drivers) when they have no relation to this topic what so ever ??? -

The only way to TRUELY describe it is to sit in it and listen to it for yourself ... Absolutely breathtaking !!! Stage, Image, Dynamics, Headroom, Attention to placement and details ... Set in Stone !!! And the multiple 6.5" sub stage will simply blow your mind ... -

Major build quality difference for this amplifier comparison. And please correct me if I'm wrong, but Not all Class D amplifiers are "full range" like that JL Audio product. Especially anything built similar to Soundqubed amplifiers. I'm thinking that the average class D mono block sub bass amplifier's frequency response only goes up to something like 200 htz ... Besides ... Scott is the Founder and CEO of Hybrid Audio Technologies, so you can't really compare any private or customer owned vehicle to his competition or demo vehicles ... Not to mention Scott's AMAZING installation work and HOURS of testing and tuning in the G35. We were parked side by side at SBN this year. I had ALOT of listening time in that car. -
Ok Sean, point taken Sir ... Thank you for the help, I will talk to Ray about this at a later date. But for now, we will just keep things the way they are and concentrate on placement, interior, paint and body work before October ... Which is the biggest event of the year, the Unified (meca, usaci, and Iasca) world finals !!! Ray will be there in the manufacturer's booth so you can talk to him in person about product and will have his Excape (and my truck) in the demo booth for your listening pleasure. Ray takes his time and talks to each and everyone about technical and general car audio ... If you care anything about car audio at all, please make plans to attend this event. Please don't give me that "I don't have time and its inconvenient krap ... Make time !!! My truck has over 350000 miles on it traveling to shows and events, so I've proved my dedication to this sport. I'd really like to buy your lunch and talk shop in person ... Again, thanks for your help man !!!

Sean, I'm not getting into this with you ... I've met up with Mark and Aaron at different events, they looked and listened to our vehicles and was very impressed. This forum promised me that if the admins though anything bad about me or my equipment, I'd leave and never return ... But their thoughts were a very good positive ... So that should be good enough for you since you will not bring your ass out into the real car audio world and demo our vehicles in person ... So please, talk to Mark and Aaron about their thought on my truck and quit picking these fights with me cause I'm not going to do anything "textbook" to my truck. I have more fun the way things are now ... So please ban me or leave me alone ...
-
That's fine Sean ... Its cool with the theories and principals not working according to textbook. But as long as I keep high standings in with the MECA judges saying my truck has some of the best staging and midrange that they've ever herd, that's all that counts ... I could care less about the mathmatics, as long as everyone that sits in my vehicle is impressed with the sound ... I'm happy But thanks anyway for your input ...

Are you going to Florence, Al on the 27 th ???

Does SSA have a separate admin panel ??
-
That's correct Sir. Passive (with phase compensation) 5.25" component set on the dash crossed on the low end around 100 htz on a 150 watts per channel, and active (with phase compensation) 6.5" midbass drivers low in the doors cut on the top end around 175 htz and the low end around 50 htz on 150 watts per channel ... For now
-
Interesting build. You know I will be tuned in.
-
Thanks man, the truck is going in the body shop soon ... Also, got to tear back into my interior to find and fix some troublesome rattles ... One of the nightmares of using your daily driven "old truck" as your Sound Quality vehicle ... LOL

Do you know a good speaker kill switch?
Randal Johnson replied to Truconcept's topic in General Audio
I take it that you run amplifiers for your mids and highs ... If so, I would not change anything with that to run a separate driver outside the vehicle ... You may take a chance of hurting your amplifiers. My Suggestion would be to (if you have them) use the radio power (rears) on your headunit ... that way you can fade them in and out without changing anything to your primary setup ... -
