    single cab blow through

That seems like a large enclosure setup for your truck ... meaning that it will be close (and quite possibly going past) to your rear end / monster notch / air ride section ... Every one I've built has been simple ported and tuned with as large of a mouth opening as possible ... Most enclosures like the one you just posted usually take up just about all of the room in your bed ... And I would think you need room for compressors / batteries / tanks / and possibley amplifiers ... I'm sure if you give Ram Designs your maximum demensions ... he will be able to design a specific enclosure that will fit your needs ...

OK ... I had a chance to swing by a friend's house with a truck similar to yours ... So, I broke out the measuring tape !!! No, his truck is not modified like yours, but shouldn't matter from the front of the rear fender wells and the front section of the bed next to the cab ... From the looks of things, there should be no problems with the "cut through" mouth being about 49" wide and somewhere along the lines of 10" high ... Couldn't be exact without taking the interior apart, but it's close. In the bed, there should be plenty of room to put an enclosure large enough for 4 12s or 2 15s ... If you go with 15s, you will have to lay the subs back in a wedge style enclosure but shouldn't make any difference in output if tuned correctly ... So ... The First thing I would do is find a good length of accordian boot to seal up the opening between the cab and bed ... Please remember that when you make your cuts, DO NOT cut out square corners ... Please make all 4 corners rounded shape so the accordian boot will seal correctly ... Then you will have to construct the mouth opening from the bed area through the bed / cab holes and into the cabin area ... And physically mount the mough opening to where it actually "mates up" with the bed for a nice tight seal ... Then on to the enclosure design / build ... You can see here on my enclosure where we used those 2x4s on the back side to mate up with the front baffle for a tight seal between the bed and the cab ... I know your build will be different but connecting the mouth area to the cabin area should be a similar application ... I hope this is what you are looking for ... Randal Memories !!! That was about the time I bought my first Linear Power 5002IQ ... droped a smoothe grand and some change there ... Amplifier plays just as good today as it did the day I bought it new from Wood's Stereo ...

    balance/SQ, lossless line voltage?

I take it that you have a Dodge Truck ... Thinking Extended Cab ??? If so ... What year model truck ??? We have a guy on our team with a Dodge Truck possibly similar to yours that competes SQ in MECA ... If I'm not mistaken ... He is running a 2 Way active setup with the midbass drivers in stock location (highly reinforced to prevent vibrations and rattles) and the tweeters up on the A-Pillars ... With a center console sub stage ... I believe his average scores in Modified class is high 70s to low 80s ... don't know for sure ... If you like and he will let me ... I will snap some pics of his install and post them for you ... Now this is not a suggestion on what I think you should do to your truck or anything, but something you might can view and see what someone has done with a truck that is somewhat similar to yours ...

    balance/SQ, lossless line voltage?

Me and the "what if" thought was just that guys ... No, no center channel for me ... But I do have plans for that particular location ... No as for the topic on hand ... Yes, I agree with you guys. Start out with a simple 2 way setup and learn from there ... Nothing like testing and tuning along with trial and error ...

    balance/SQ, lossless line voltage?

Interesting ... My 49 Ford has a factory Center Channel area that you could almost fit a 8" driver and reinstall the factory Grille ... I have new 8" fullrange driver that I'm not using at the moment. We were considering a sealed 8 in the center channel area for a sub stage location, so it might be something cool to experiment and just see how much stage width and depth I could get out of it ...

Sound systems may prevent deer collisions!

Too bad I can not install a bass system in my work truck ... LOL I work at night, so I see deer on the sides of the road ALL of the time ...

Yes Sir I do ... Punch 75 ??? Haven't heard that one in a while either ... I remember those Punch 45, 75, and 150s being some bad ass amplifiers ... I remember reading those Car Audio magazine comparisons with the Linear Power 452IQ, 952IQ and the 1502IQ amplifiers ... I also remember buying old school Blues drivers, Cerwin Vega, and those good ole Kicker Comps !!! Cool suspension plans Sir !!! Please post pics of your progress !!! Did you raise up your entire bed floor ??? May take some wild calculations to get a good enclosure in there ...

Hey guys ... I'm being told that there is a USACI event happening in McComb, Ms on May 24th ... I'm almost positive that it will be a SPL only competition. However, since it is so close to my dad's shop ... I would like to come out, bring the ole 49, and meet up with you guys if you are planning to attend this event ... Please let me know if you guys (or anyone else reading this) are making plans to attend this event !!!

Next time you go to a MECA competition and meet up wit Steve Stern (owner of MECA) ... Take a look at what he is running in his Van for a Sub Stage ... An origional Trisoberic 10" enclosure

A pair of Iso-Kit 10s tuned to 24 htz on a Modified LP5002IQ (at the time of that pic) ... Camaro Berlinetta huh ... I had a 1983 Camaro Berlinetta I drove to college ... Then I had a 1985 IROC after that ... Thank You Sir ...

Yea the owner lives about 45 minutes from my dad's Shop where I work on my 49 Ford. As soon as my Ford's system is up to Par, I plan to meet up with him for demos ... I will give you 3 guess on who the main culprit is on this forum ... And the first 2 doesn't count.

Dang ... Now that's a Low Rider !!! Never got that low with mine ... But like I said ... We were working on it until We went and got me a new toy. Yea, looks like you are very limited on leg room too ... So building a Cut through would help you out a lot there !!! Perhaps a below the window line wall like mine ... But then again ... ALOT of measuring would need to be done ...
  14. Cool Idea ... I had plans to do something similar to my Chevy ... but just never got around to getting it done.

    PSI Subs

Just so we know ... I'm running nothing larger than a 10. And the company that sponsors me does not make anything larger than a 10. So I will give my suggestion on this if you do not mind ... On the larger subs playing music ... The one that struck my interest the most is the SSA Evil 18 in Senchezzy's truck ... When toned down and blended with the music ... Sounded great !!! So I would say (and not just because we are on the SSA Site) look into the Zcon products ... if you are interested in a single driver ... On another note ... You could look into the DSS (I believe it's Direct Sound Solutions) products on this site ... I've never had a chance to demo his products, but just from reading the post from the owner, I have the sure fire feeling that these drivers are up to par with the Big Dogs ... Just my suggestion here brother ... giving you some options.

    PSI Subs

LOL ... Man I don't know much about them actually. I just go by what most SPL folks tell me at events. From what I saw, Those "on demand" built drivers held up really good just for being built the night before ... but for stability and musical performance ... Sorry guys, I haven't been around them enough to know ... It seems like what most people read /post on forums and what people actually say /do at events is two totally different things ...
  17. Randal Johnson

    PSI Subs

not necessarily ... I seen them guys do ALOT of damn good "on demand" work building / repairing drivers for competitors at MANY major car audio events ...

    PSI Subs

I don't thing they have an actual "product line" ... but just build custom or repair drivers to customer specs ... EDIT: PSI's primary forum section can be found here ... http://www.down4sound.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?30-PSi-Car-Audio

How to hit 150+db with 1 Fi BL12?

I was under the impression that every vehicle application is different ... What works in your SUV might not be the deciding factor in a sedan ... I don't remember reading what type of vehicle the OP has for this application ... Electrical and Power can be a BIG factor here, not just enclosure design alone ... Most competitors know their perspective clases really well and use maximum Battery and Amplifier power to their advantage ... Like having to "manually turn down" their alternator charging voltage to class limitations when they pull up into the lane as the SPL meter is being installed into their vehicle ... That, and learning more and more on how to use vehicle resonance to their advantage ... I't just doesn't seem like "Car Audio" any more when it comes to SPL ... Alot of things being done now was practically un heard for back in the Hay Days of Competition ... But with crazy experiment test and tuning ... Who knows what they will come up with next to defy the laws of physics ... Just like Capacitor banks ... Becoming one of the best things going in Major events ...

How to hit 150+db with 1 Fi BL12?

I'm not disagreeing with you in any way, But While I'm making my strolls around major events ... I have noticed vehicles running higher frequencies are going more and more to smaller enclosures with bigger ports ... Heck, some of them are using nothing but large scale PVC pipe and positioning the enclosures in the vehicles that best performs with vehicle resonance ... and just about every one I see is knocking on 160's door ... especiallly in the CRXs ... Please understand that I'm primarily a Sound Quality guy with ALOT of friends and competitors in the SPL realm ... So this is primarily just an observation ...

    how strong is your box?

Glad to see you didn't get hurt
  25. Most of those trucks have larger than normal alternators for work loads like tractor charging, running compressors / generators, hydraulic booms, etc ... well, you get what I'm saying here ... I basically live in a 2 ton bucket truck with all those bells and whistles a lineman needs to work with ... The alternator should be strong enough to get you started. However ... Its not going to last. My suggestion would be to get 2 batteries to go in the back (bed toolbox or something similar) and then upgrade your alternator as soon as you can ... but I would not run your large class D amplifier off of those stock batteries alone ... But then again, just my suggestion here brother ...
