t/s specs vs actual sound quality
Randal Johnson replied to ibanender's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
The words "Sound Quality" should have never been the topic of this thread ... Sub bass only counts maybe 15% of a TRUE Sound Quality install ... Not one word in this whole thread about TOTAL system function capability ... Which should have been worked out in the first couple of post ... "Sound Quality" means Installation (Vehicle Alarm and Safety), Stageing and Imageing (Sound, Height, width, Linearity, and dynamics) , Vehicle owner knowledge, Vehicle apearance and presentation, and most spl runs are only used in case of a tie breaker ... Hope this helps the op out some ... just my suggestion here ... Thanks, Randal ... -
LMAO. Good luck if you change to the 8's Bro. Please post up some pics of your progress. Yes Sir ... I'm hoping to have this done by the time I meet up with you at Scrapin !!!

I'm thinking about replacing my Blues 6.5" component set with the Blues 8" component set ... Just minor work to my kick pannels and should be good to go ... Then relocating the 6.5" component set to the rear stage ... ALOT of work to the rear Quarter pannel and 3rd door but should be worth it ... No tweeters will be moved ... just replacing the rear RD Alpha tweeters with the Blues ... Should be a MAJOR improvement ... Just hope I can get this (and some deadning in the process) done before Scrapin the Coast ...

Yes, that specific vehicle had a lot of work done. It was also the first of it's kind, so the available options weren't as ready-made as they are today. But you entirely missed the point of that particular example. As long as you have room for the horns mounting them is not a difficult task, especially for a professional installer. Building for the 10" mids wouldn't be any more difficult than the work required to fit multiple drivers, as you suggested and as he was originally going to have done. And moderate tuning is all that's really needed to bring a horn into the realm of "sound quality" that would be satisfactory for this particular installation. I don't see how this route would be any more challenging than either the path he was originally intent on going or the route you've suggested, and the results would be better in just about every sense. Where is the downside? I see no problem to this, sounds logical to try out ... Impious, This was a great Moderators post, Logical, easy to read, and very nice straight on topic ... Thank you sir ... There was no need for ///M5 to be so arragant to me earlier, he could have just set back and let you answer. Then there would be no conflict ... Keep us posted Focalrock4life on what you do to your system ... Thanks, Randal ... -

I'd probably win which would be funny considering I have the stock HK system in my ML63 and NOTHING extra. You should really stop e-gurgitating the crap you read from your e-boner friends. It just makes you look thick headed. The Blues stuff is 80's technology that is absolutely NOTHING special. For 20% of the money you can buy better drivers from PE, and there are plenty of options. Why don't you actually try reading something for once instead of having someone else design your stuff and then perhaps you'll actually have a comment worth posting instead of just putting the popcorn guy in every thread. And as stated, simple is relative and you need to compare to what the OP was going to do. So yes, can be, not sure why you don't get that. What ever bro ... -

All i am saying is that the car that brad used as an example is kinda like the Linear Power Bread Truck ... A "One of a Kind" machine ... It is Almost impossible (without spending a butt load of money) for a Daily driver vehicle that can be built to sound like that car ... Back in the early 90s, that car's system was $100,000.00 or better ... I'm not going against Brad or Sean anymore, all I'm saying is that if you are going that route, you got your work cut out for ya ... -
