Booo If it makes you feel any better, I have to change the fuel tank on the Jeep when I get back home. Rock beats scissor...and fuel tank... and fuel tank brush guard.

Magnet is too big
-
Ah, a picture of the mounting space. I will have to make some sort of baffle.
-
They don't fit because the magnet is too big. I'd have to cut some air ducts, which would be possible with either the dash out or the windscreen out and since I want this setup as simple as possible it's not gonna happen The only wires I ran were +12 for the amps, the DRC cord and the subwoofer wires.
-
They will reside behind that grille. And screw USPS, I can't find a center console panel with a cubby hole instead of the ahstray here in Europe, and the best one I could find in the US is $79 shipped I'm tired of reaching way down below the cigarette lighter for the volume knob on the Audison DRC.
-
That;s the problem, I don't know how to treat the in-dash situation. But again, for $65 shipped, it's no biggie if they lay around. My Fostex FF85k's are collecting dust... SOLD

Since I never splurge, I'll most likely get the Peerless and be done with it.
-
Or maybe I should splurge and get the Fountek FR88ex also. It's better above 10k.
-
This project has been a rollercoaster and I finished one part of it just in time. This weekend I'm staying in and continuing to work. The weather sucks and I have no desire to go to Paris.
-
Peerless 830986 looks like the choice for the Jeep. Not idea to run full-range but I hope it's going to be better than the 2.5" Infinities.
-
Aurasound NS3 then
-
It's 3" but the magnet won't fit Fancy wood, curious what will it turn into.
-
I thought I wrote that they don't fit They've been sitting on a shelf ever since I took them out of the old Jeep and could not fit them in the dash location of the new one
-
Guys and girls... When using speakers flat on the dash, I assume what I hear is the reflection from the windscreen, right? In that case what should I look for in frequency response? I'm looking to replace the dash speakers in the Jeep, they are currently 2.5" Infinity full-ranges installed by the factory. They sound OK but I'm curious to try something different. 3" speakers fit but they have to have a neo magnet.

I love my breaker bar WHEN it fits. Working on cars I still haven't found anything tighter than some bolts on the backhoe. I still have a 5 foot breaker bar for serious stuff.
-
Tarmac is apparently bad at the race this weekend. Guess I'll wait until the end of the month for the last race of the season.
-
Thanks! Hopefully I'll get off my ass and drive off-road more now that I met other Jeep owners in town. In 6-9 October I should be halfway across the country for another Jeep meeting, IF I'm back from France (work trip). So more pics coming if I make it.

Jeep trip this weekend:
-
Yup, it's STUPID. 7 cases last year, almost 700 this year. 3 deaths, too. FUCKING STUPID ANTI-VAXXERS I was almost foaming at the mouth.
-
Well, it was 100 miles away from where I live. I left the inlaw's house at 7 AM, the road from there to the event was awesomesauce. Oddly enough today I looked at the new Mustang Eco-boost. Kind of affordable here. It's a fricking barge, longer and wider than the Jeep and almost as heavy. But I like it a lot.
-
Thanks! Yesterday I got under it and brakes and steering are next on the refresh list. I'll probably get the control arms powdercoated at the same time. It looks slow, the quickest car on the track did not look much faster and it was 5-6 seconds per lap quicker.
-
The rustbucket Miata on the track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg4YGLXk-Y0 Fun times, I can't wait for the next event...
-
Congrats on the car. After driving the Miata over the entire weekend it was such a relief going back in the Jeep. Auto+torque+quiet (compared to the Miata). On the upside I drove all weekend with the top down I'm hoping I can convince the boss to buy a bow for the new place the company is moving in, it has a big back-yard, excellent place for some archery.

Nope, I got a loaner ECU, SKIM and key. I'm drying mine off before the trip and bringing it as a spare. Haha, I'll check Vlad's amps today Just poking around with the DMM I measured 3.5v between the ground wire of the starter relay signal (which comes off the ECU, just like the positive signal) and the battery negative and there was no continuity between that and the body or battery negative. ECU was reporting correct battery voltage on the dash and I could read codes. Only possible plug where that ground signal wire goes is in an area coated in oily residue (power steering fluid I guess). Unless the crank sensor failed internally and connected the 5v line to the ECU ground. Typically on these commonrail engines the cam sensor fails first because of the heat but the engine will still crank. Inside the ECU I saw corrosion on the corner which sits the lowest. Three people in Australia replaced their ECU, one after a heavy rain after he found water inside it. A guy here which does remaps told me he had two cases of wet Bosch ECUs, one worked after being dried off, the other never worked again. At one point I saw continuity between the starter relay signal ground and the battery negative with the original ECU and the car started. Drove it 10 miles and nothing happened. After that I switched out the ECU and, knock on wood, I drove 120 miles since.
-
Drove an hour through some serious rain and the Jeep decided to just stop and no longer crank. Got it towed to a friend's shop, next morning it started right up. Ran for 10 miles and quit again. I ended up replacing the ECU. It has a hole in the case, where a rubber plug should be. But somebody removed the plug on mine, it took in water during the heavy rain. I found some signs of corrosion when opened up. WHAT THE FUCK? Of all the stupid things somebody could do when working on a car this was the stupidest, what possible use would somebody have for that plug?
