Question About Setting Gains?
Adrian_D replied to Schmuck's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
To make a point, I dare you to grab an uninformed noob off an audio site and let him set your gains by his ears in your car. See what happens. I guarantee you won't like it. Offering that as a valid solution is dangerous. and NOT blindly trust a machine to tell you which direction to twist the knob. that's what can happen when you use rta to set it up. clipping is clipping. some may like distorsion but the o-scope will only tell you where to stop. -

thankyou for coming back to a rational level. i see your point. but i have to argue about winning sq comps. IMO, if you can afford to get a high level of accuracy for your enjoyment (there are hobby o-scopes, which go for under $200) why not do it ? -

Question About Setting Gains?

good god just do it the way you like. call me whatever you want if you think that is going to prove something. i said "comments above". i'm not native english, but that seems clear enough to me ok, let's try to get a little productive. give me your thoughts on why setting gains with an o-scope isn't the best thing. -
average is the way to go

Question About Setting Gains?
Adrian_D replied to Schmuck's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
now THAT would be uber sweet ...and unnecessary for 99% of the people who would come into contact with it. Just use your ears. If your ears aren't good enough to set gains, you won't be able to appreciate a high dollar sound system anyway. Do you know any blind guys with 60" Plasma's? if he does put up a tutorial, will you please keep out comments like the ones above ? thanks i've read your opinion a couple times. -

Gotta love the Eastern block where bribes are still part of everyday life. Most people here don't comprehend that btw. i wouldn't call it a bribe. more like a "you help me i help you" situation Of course you wouldn't call it a bribe but they would here. When I lived in Russia, believe me this was a common occurrence and I probably used a few of them a day to get what I wanted. Over here that doesn't work though. wait, what ? also, you have to be careful who you bribe here. it has gone down a bit lately, which is good maybe if important jobs would pay better we would see les bribing (sp?) going on

wire has copper in it. doesn't matter if it's got blue or gray insulation (or purple for that matter), copper will be copper. use whatever you have.

nice progress man hurry up and deaden the floor how many layers did you put with on the outer skin of the door ?
-
Except that I paid $7.99 for mine on sale someplace. sheesh. newegg wants $23 for it. i'll probably find it cheaper in some e-shop but they won't ship overseas
-
tried it with the sub amp, which is considerably smaller than the 4 channel and i couldn't fit it maybe the 4 door is diffrent from the 2 door in regards to rear seat size ?
-
that's how i'll do it then. thanks btw, ever put a scope on your 9813 ? just wondering where yours starts to clip how about orientating the mids ? they will be placed in the door because i have a manual and big feet mine starts clipping around 29-30 iirc . Not much you can do with them in the doors besides deaden the poo poo out of the doors , and isolate the baffles as much as possible. You could try a slight angle up and towards the center , but I'm not sure it would help much seems like i'll need a little more play-time with the scope wired up. going with the mids flat on the door seemed like the easiest way

never had trouble with all the grease from when i worked on the excavator. i used some "soap" mercedes has in their assembly line. it's not very liquid-y and has some small particles on it. works like magic yeah, the soap with pumice bits in it is really good for grease/oil new batch coming in soon i love that stuff as much as i love getting dirty
