    Dracula's Droptop

It bugs me too. I just need to take it out, root it, put the OTG cable and see what happens.

The friend who helped with the buttons and modifying the power supply has Tasker and I've seen it in action, it's awesome.

Now that I look, it would be a good idea to paint the accelerator pedal. Hmm, powdercoating....

Mine doesn't turn off and since I use the car daily it loses at most 10% charge overnight with GPS on. I haven't installed Tasker yet, supposedly it's the bee's knees. I can't find a lot of things to complain about, charge works like a charm, I haven't tested OTG with charge through Pogo pins (all info is related to older versions and I have an app to enable it on the stock kernel supposedly). The thing is I still need to take it out to CNC the front trim. And by the time I get to do it, if something bugs me, I'll put the new kernel The ghetto rigged mount. I payed $30 for each set of license plates, might as well use them. Tablet sits a bit too high but once the front trim panel goes on, it presses it in position and it feels very solid. Day shot, button holes visible, holder visible. Hidden switch to charge when the car is off. I added it before soldering the pogo pins. Buttons installed

Finally, some reason on the internet. I remember one time a friend tried to convince me it's faster to pour sugar from one of those paper sugar things by breaking it in half. When we compared directly opening one side vs opening in half, opening on one side was a lot faster. But somehow it was faster for him the way he did it.

I know dx.com is huge but worth a shot, you may find something cool. Sorting through junk to uber expensive is tough for me. Having a ton of inventory is both good and bad. When I got my bike lights from them I wanted to see what else they have...not worth spending the time to sift through their website.

Mine doesn't have an SD card slot. It can work in on-the-go mode with an external USB drive but it can't charge, at least not with the default kernel.

Thank you, I'll take some more pics os what was done yesterday. Getting way closer to completion. Car PC vs Tablet Lots of storage vs not a lot of storage (depending on kernel and mods though) Possibly more powerful hardware vs decent hardware Lots of processing options vs no processing Adding an external soundcard is easier for a Car PC High vs low power consumption Big'ish box vs small device With Windows 8 I think you could get away with only a touch-screen and some sort of front-end like Centrafuse. To me, a Car PC implied more work (get components, set up everything) compared to the tablet, after modifying some wiring to make sure things work the way I need, only a couple of apps are left to configure. And there's the problem of space and weight, there's barely any room for anything in this car. I can live with only 10GB of storage space, the internal sound card and only the processing power of a miniDSP.

The hardtop is for winter and long drives (much quieter than a soft-top). I'll take if off again after I build a hoist system in the garage. Small garage so no room to store it on the floor or on the walls.

Charging problem is solved. If I charge on the pogo pins it can charge over 1A. I can keep the screen, wifi, gps on and the battery still charges. No more different kernel

Doing the thing I hate most, Windows reinstall. Seems like the cure in these cases is a new user version One thing that makes a Windows reinstall more manageable is a bottle of Belgian beer.

Welp, Seems like the hydraulic head in the Jeep's injection pump is gone. Might aswell upgrade from 10mm to 11mm, more power!!! And I will go on vacation in Greece with it, so I won't start work on the Miata until the Jeep is in tip-top shape.

Damn... I dropped my old Motorola Droid repeatedly, even landed on it when I fell with the bike and left a nice gush in one corner. Still kicking...

Yesterday, with the screen, wifi and gps off it charged from 52 to 55% in about a 10 minute drive. I will add a switch to charge it overnight. Yeah...I've got talent in hacking, when it needs to get done, and fast, it gets hacked. The aluminum mount looks like a piece of shit but considering I put about 5 hours into the entire tablet install, the end result is just fine. I'll take pics when I install the buttons. They are wired but hanging out. This install was done in fast forward but I'm pretty satisfied. I need to get the car ready for paint (ie fix rust) in 3 weeks max. So anything to do with the install is put on hold

All this talk about turbos makes me want to turbo the Miata sooner. Not sure I can swing it this year but next year turbo goes on.
