Got the Jeep back up and running and surprise... When I got back from the trip the idle was very rough, made little to no power under 1500 rpm and smoked at idle. I said the turbo is fucked and pugging up the exhaust. Nope, it's the same now. And I'll be damned, it had this rough idle issue very randomly in the past but it lasted a few seconds only. So I guess it's a bad lifter / bent pushrod. That would explain the slight tick I kept hearing over the last year.

20b time! Oh, hell no As much as I'd like it, seems like too much of a headache

I want an RX8 Non-running ones are CHEAP
-
Does that jeep have the 4.0? Right now I wish it had.
-
But no problem, sticking another stock one then it's upgrade time Idiots sent me the one in the Grand Cherokee and it's clocked incorrectly for the Cherokee. Re-clocking a 20 year old turbo is not exactly easy At least they sent me a manifold with the turbo so when I upgrade to the VNT, I can chop up that manifold

Turbos and onions! That thing got angry. It made some funny noises when I suspect the shaft broke
-
I removed the Jeep's turbo after the failure in September... Looks mint, right? Shaft snapped Another stock turbo gets installed today, then I'm starting to piece up what I need for the VNT upgrade. Screw fixed geometry and small turbos

Holy crap you will First time ever I couldn't count the times I fell. But we did not have long or steep slopes. Second time, in Austria, it was madness. I joined the most experienced group of co-workers (company paid ski trip) and they were going fast on black slopes. It was dreadful the first couple of days. I must have tumbled close to 7-800 feet on one occasion, I had snow everywhere. One day the fog was so thick I steered uphill and started going backwards all of the sudden Jesus, I wish you had brought a helmet cam. I'll have one next year

Start a bidding war on the front lawn? They all owned the same contracting company

On my last 2 skiing trips it was getting close to spring and with a good jacket and good pants (both for skiing) I only needed a t-shirt under the jacket. Mandatory gear: Good jacket Good ski pants (I recommend pants with shoulder straps, since you are going to fall a lot) Gloves (I have some cheapies, they will get we so you will have to dry them overnight) Something to protect your face / back of your head from the cold. Helmet Goggles I assume you are going to rent skis and ski boots.

Backhoe is officially sold. Holy cow, the back yard is big... We never posted it for sale, just told a neighbor about it. 3 guys came to see it, they are plumbing contractors and wanted one fast.

2.8 stroker should work well in one Relatively cheap to register it here, $50 year for registration and $20/month for PLPD and $30/month for incidental when it's put away for winter. I paid almost $900 to register the 1.8 Miata. A 2.5 E30 would've been close to $1300 to register. Yearly cost for Miata: $80 tax and $150 insurance Yearly cost for 2.5 E30: $300 tax and way over $150 insurance. Yeah, 1.8 E30 would have been cheaper but I'd still be driving a very common car with a supposedly complicated engine (as opposed to the Miata, which is like a cockroach, it could probably survive a nuclear blast). I like having one of the 2 first generation Miata's in town. And one of them is not registered yet. Factor in average monthly salary here and you quickly realize it's a big difference between the two. I already pay the $300 yearly tax for the Jeep and that's because you can't get a decent 4x4 with a small engine. But that's a different story...

This, the most fun I have driving is in the E30, it may not be the fastestestest car I own but its definitely the most enjoyable The answer is always Miata. E30 >> Miata NEIN!!!! Never ever ever ever ever. *I hate E30's* Drive them back to back Only jackasses drive E30's and E36's here. It's so played out, it's unreal. That's the only reason I hate them. I have a natural hate towards anything BMW because of who drives them here in Romania. Here only women drive Miata's Hah, that explains it
-
Back when I was deciding what car to buy, the E30 was a serious option. A bit harder to find with the correct engine (318is). I ruled it out because it was possibly older and/or rustier than a Miata, it wasn't convertible (4-seat convertibles don't have too much appeal for me) and they were not rare at all on the streets here. With the 2.5 liter 6cyl I'd end up paying 5-6 times the taxes I pay for a 1.8, be it Miata or E30. Not to mention higher registration tax.

Bahco handle looks similar to some "swedish" ratchet I have. I need to check it when I get home.

Rode my bike today to work, since almost all summer I've stayed with my GF and she lives close to where I work. Dayum, 40F weather with a T-shirt and a shell and I was sweating a lot when I got to the office. Biggest bonus is that today, compared to when I drive to work, or take the bus, it feels much warmer because of the extra exercise
-
SO? Bahco? never heard of them....
-
I hear ya. Hate it when it gets below 40 in December. If this winter is like last I'm going to freak out. Mother Nature donkey punched us in the nuts last year. Several feet of snow at the same time temps dropped to wind chills of something like -20...so I had to stand out in that shit for DAYS a shoveling. I use ski gear. Ski pants, ski jacket and I found some lightweight, waterproof boots rated to -20*C. Tested the boots in the snow for quite a few hours and I've never had better boots ever.
