Bodywork guy has not started on the car yet. I'll call him today, if he doesn't get started by Friday, I'm taking the car back. This is unacceptable. He tells me to bring it to him before May 1st, so he can start, now it's May 20th and still no work done. Plus some excuses that he can't get epoxy primer.

Saturday I changed the drive gear on the starter motor. 1 Jeep mechanic (friend who always helps me with parts) and 2 electricians said the drive gear is impossible to find. Found it! Changed it! Much easier to remove the starter motor in 70* weather compared to 0*.

And I need to take pics of the other caliper I have left, with the chipped pistons, maybe I find a soul which wants it cheap, to recoup some more money from the brake swap.
-
Just bid $1 on a starter motor for the Jeep. If I win that I'd have to buy a cheap cluster from the UK so the starter motor won't feel lonely and I can then change the lens on my cluster.

Since the $1 hood release for the Miata needed company on the shipping from Germany to here, I thought I'll just buy the trans cooler. But the seller also had the cruise control buttons for $5 (mine are a bit faded), so why not buy them too?

Had to do an emergency brake and do some spirited mountain driving yesterday. The new brakes are nice

Put 150 miles on the radiator repair. No leaks. When I removed the fan shroud I found the actual crack, which was sealed with silicone, don't know how it held up to now. Also, don't know why one of the pads is not sitting right. The rotors had a coating on them and I can see that 3 of 4 tread on the rotor perfectly. One of them is not right. I need to take the wheel off and investigate.

Tips or links to? I'd love to be able to do this for me and the girl.JThe biggest tip possible is pack everything that you need, but NOTHING you won't use. That I figured on. What about folding techniques, or things thereof.J don't fold....ever. Roll. Depends on what you pack. I am lazy and use a suiter Great tip actually. Helps a lot to roll clothes instead of folding.

Bought a hood release cable and latch for the Miata for $1 and I need to have them shipped here. I'd package them together with the radiator and save on shipping.

I can't say, Adrian. Pressures aren't really high, and if you did it and it held on the overflow I assume it would work, but without any real experience I will have to claim ignorance on this one, my friend. Sorry. Bwaaaaa, nobody wants to help me bla-bla-bla It held on the overflow, I mean I was supposed to leave the house, quickly sanded the crack, added superglue, baking soda, repeat 3 times to make a big patch, change clothes and drive. No leaks, no x hours to cure. Last I recall the overflow cap has a 15psi valve. When squeezing the top radiator hose I can't feel much pressure. I have the old radiator from the Miata, I can use it to test how well the mix sticks to radiator end tanks. Slightly related...if I buy another used radiator, I'm afraid of transmission cooler failure. What if I just ditch the in-radiator cooler and use a normal radiator for the transmission? External is fine... better than internal, in fact. I like the Wurth glue. The accelerant makes it even more awesome. Wurth is an awesome company. What about warm-up and all that jazz during winter? Trans function best when cold. Ohh, how many good excuses now to buy the radiator

Hate the video, love the song. Yesterday was "old-school" alternative rock day at the shop.

Dependson the plastic. Polyethylene, nothing will work. A hard nylon, or ABS and you'll be okay. Ironically, I have some potting epoxy and used it on the Camry rad tank before I sold it. Held for the last few weeks I drove it. http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/what-is-the-plastic-radiator-top-made-of-abs.273841/ Most competent info says it should be Glass-Filled Nylon. It does seem to be roughish on the surface and have some fibers in it.

If they jump on the spl meters like they did on the flares...it's going to be fun
-
I'm trying to get back in touch with the italians who bought flares from me. Looks like I did business with half the people into car audio from Italy

Bought 50 grams of Wurth superglue, much stronger than regular stuff. I'm going to go full retard and fill the entire end-tank to core seam.

I might glue together 2 pieces of plastic and boil them in water. If it fails...no bueno...

Seth and other mechanically minded people... How would a superglue + baking soda repair last on a radiator end tank ? Stupid previous owner had the end tank gasket repaired, hammered a few tabs too hard and cracked the end tank. I fixed a crack in the overflow bottle (it's pressurized, unlike petrol engines and leaked quite a lot of coolant before the fix) and it lasted nicely over the last 200 miles but it's a different plastic. I've the same repair an intercooler end tank, so similar pressures, oil instead of coolant and lower temperatures, it held nicely.

Sounds like fun. Auschwitz is a serious mind fuck. You will NEVER forget it. We have a hotel room booked in the nearby town. So we have a full day of visiting planned for it. I'm concerned my girlfriend won't be able to take it if it's such a mindfuck. She wasn't too enthusiastic about visiting Auschwitz until her boss told her it's a must to visit if we go that way. My girlfriend's father on the other hand was very excited for us, he's a history nerd Sean please feel free to tell me I am wrong for asking, but Adrian if you could take aome extra photos for us, I would really appreciate it. Your vacation sounds like something I hope to embark on some day. J I'll take pictures, just have to remember to post them. Recommendation for visiting is at least 3 hours. We have almost a full day prepared. Going to visit Schindler's factory too, that's why we are stopping in Krakow.

Looks like a nicer fit than on the bike. Thanks Still bedding them in, I only did 10 miles of city driving. Both sides are bedding in at the same rate apparently, nice and symmetrical. It's now close to what I previously had. Another bleeding procedure needed to improve braking feel. I might change my master cylinder, the pedal slowly goes to the floor if pressed hard.

June trip is booked. Going to visit Krawow, Auschwitz, Prague, Bratislava and Vienna.

Rotors, pads, hardware and Mercedes calipers were about $200 I've sold a set of good Jeep calipers for $25 profit and one of my old calipers for $50. So I've got new, upgraded brakes for $125 and a day of work.
