    Damaged on arrival

Looks like UPS got ticked about lifting heavy batteries and decided to knock yours around. If they are not cracked or leaking, then power wise you should be ok. If it were me I would file a claim with UPS and tell them your batteries were damaged during shipping. If you have the outside boxes that would be a good thing. In most of the cases I have dealt with, UPS will pick them up and ship them back to us and we can get you some replacements. Today is Friday, so I wouldn't expect them to pick them up before Monday at the earliest, but you would need to check and see if that is the case. If they are delivered and the customer did not refuse them because of damage during shipping, then UPS really will not let us do anything. The customer has to file the complaint unfortunately.

    Charging batteries before installation

There is no way possible to tell you how to charge your battery from the info you have listed. Is it an AGM battery charger? What amperage does it charge at? What voltage does it charge at? Does it have different stages of charge? The batteries should be charged at 14.4V and 15amps is the optimal charge rate. A volt meter will be your best bet to see if the charger will work for you or not.

    Charging batteries before installation

Are you using the XS Power 1005 charger? If you are and you are going to charge them together you can bump the charger up to the 25amp setting, since you are charging 2 D3100s at the same time. If you charge them individual, then just charge them at the 15amp setting.

Only if you are talking about performance, quality, customer service, and bang for your buck!

    Is my d3400 ok?

Could be heat from the radiator. We do not have a metal case for the 3400 series. If you can either post up some pics or shoot me an email [email protected] and we will get it figured out. If you were resting at 12.8 then you are good as far as the battery goes, but I would look at adding maybe a light metal piece to deflect some of the heat from the battery.

    Is my d3400 ok?

Feel free to send us a pic and we can take a look at it for you. The 3400s have a reinforced shell and can sometimes give the look of a slight bulge. There are a couple of quick ways to test it to see if it is still ok. You can either take it to an auto parts/battery store and have them hook it up on a Midtronics tester or charge the battery and then let is set for 12 to 24 hours. If the resting voltage is 12.9 or higher after that time frame you are fine. If I was guessing I would say the battery is fine. The heat of the engine bays can sometimes cause the battery to swell, but for precaution reasons I would check the voltage output of the alternator. If a regulator goes bad in the alternator it can cause a spike in voltage, which would cause it to charge at too high of a voltage and the battery could swell from overcharging. Let me know what you find either way and we will make sure you are taken care of.

How is this battery for my setup

what kinda price shipped to 63701 are we talking about. This has same pulley as my stock alt so i dont have to change belts. Not sure what SSA will charge for shipping, but you can purchase it through their store for $499 plus the shipping. Just need to contact denim and see if he can add the item in for you on the store or if it would be easier for them to just do the order manually. Yes it will be direct bolt on and should use the stock belt if you want to use that one.

How is this battery for my setup

If you have the 2.0L then we have a 250amp alt that will work with your application and will come as a direct bolt up unit.

How is this battery for my setup

Those 1500D like the power, so you would be pushing it with just one S1200 on stock alternator power. I would suggest running a small battery in the back. I know you said you dont have the room, but even the D680 would help you out and it is very small and easy to hide in the back or under a seat.

    What Battery is For Me

Optima publicly states that the red top is not meant for use in audio applications, and will not be warrantied. For the 07 Suzuki Reno, we would recommend our D3400 or S3400 Group 34 battery. It is a bit of a tight squeeze, but is the most power you can fit in that space without major modifications. Thanks!

    XS Power D1400

What is the lowest you can charge it at? Because on a twelve volt. System as long as its in the 13.1-14.5 range every thing is fine. What is the threshold with the 14.0v battery? And what is the voltage on a fully charged/discharged 14.0v battery. Thank you I have a guy that is running his 14V in his Ford without a step down and charging in the low 16V range with good performance. He is not getting the peak performance out of it and is actually shortening the life of the battery, but he is fine with that. If you look at it mathematical, then you figure optimal charge rate is 2.4V per cell. You need at least .75V to 1V of charge in excess of the resting voltage you want. So, a 12V system is fully charged at 12.9v. To get it to that rate you need to charge at a minimum charge rate of 13.65V to 13.9V. A 12V battery has 6 cells in it, so 13.65v/6 = 2.275V per cell and 13.9V/6 = 2.317V per cell. Keep in mind this is the min you want to charge at. To charge at the optimal charge rate of 14.4V you would need to charge at the 2.4V per cell. Ok 14V battery has 7 cells. Do the same math but divide by 7. A fully charged 14V battery will be at 14.9 to 15V. So the minimum you can charge is 15.65 to 16V. That puts you at 15.65V/7 =2.236V per cell and 16V/7 = 2.286v per cell. Again the optimal charge rate is 2.4V per cell which would have you charging at 16.8V.

    Battery Question

By your measurements it sounds like the D2700 would work for the room you have to work with. The side posts on the Ibar kit will not work on the D2700. If you are using this for car audio, then AH ratings are useless actually. They are low amperage pulls for extended periods of time. Car audio needs High amperage out put in short bursts with the ability to recover quickly.

    XS Power D1400

We haven't run into any problems with the GMs running the 14V system. Some Ford and Dodge applicatoins can run it no problem, but some of the newer applications need to have a step down in there for the vehicles electrical system. You would need either an alternator that is regulated to 16.8V or be able to run the VCM and control the voltage output through it. The 14Vs need to be charged in the 16.8V range.
