    4th order build continued (M5)

if you actually read the thread, you would have seen that he's planning on posting the vid as soon as he gets access to a termlab. as for stirring the pot, m5 jumped out and ditched. us bashing him isnt stirring the pot. its chasing the poor bastard with a stick and further pointing out his worthlessness. I did read the thread, the entire thread, thanks for looking out. I also read that he could have some numbers as soon as this weekend, just wanted to see what the sweep shows regardless of whose side of the argument they support.

    4th order build continued (M5)

So the last two posts by Ram and Alan are just to stir the pot, come on already. There has been absolutely no proof posted by either side, both sides have questions that the other won't answer. I hope you guys will conduct the sweeps in the way Shizzzon has stated so there is some actual proof posted in this thread and it can be put to rest. If I was being called out and had a way to prove I was correct, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. We'd all love to see a video with the laptop and head unit side by side and watch the results unfold before us. The question is will you do it. Either way, flat response or not, show the results.

    Grasshopper's Hoe

Definitely in for yet another Sefugi build.
  4. Save yourself allot of headaches/guessing and call the number on the box. I had issues with D-Link and the tech walked me right through the entire process.
  5. Sorry to here you're having problems. It seems your audio system has "committed suicide". I know you said the p99rs is not in your budget, but give this a try and see what happens anyway. I got mine for $983.00 w/ free shipping and this guy (jpb6061) said "allot better pricing than 6th. ave.com" This was posted in another forum after I already had my p99rs in hand. It's worth a shot. Good luck. You have PM.
  6. They're folds n the port. A way to make it fit. Small net volumes require long ports to tune to "low" frequencies. It's necessary to work with "smaller" gross box/overall volumes/dimensions and "low" tunings. The larger the NET volume, assuming port area stays the same, the longer the required port length to achieve the same tuning.
  7. All joking aside. How did you come to where you are? I'm curious/intrigued, because everybody gets their first sub, and wants more. The taste of bass can be like a intoxicating. What was your first sub, what hooked you, and can you list your progression to today? I see allot of people (on forums) with, apparently, no thought as to how to put together a cohesive package. You had a goal in mind, use the seat belts or be vibrated out of the vehicle. However, you took the time to plan a front stage to keep up with/match the sub stage. Unlike allot I've seen that just keep adding component sets and diminishing returns/wasted money. Could you give me a quick summary of your past systems that lead you to this one. Thanks and great job!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. If they were intended to be a part of the vehicle, they would have loctite on them from the factory!! "Progressive Mileage Enhancements"=4-18 ZCONS. Screw "green", you're taking saving the planet to a whole new level. Everybody should step in line, or else. I really wish I could experience this in person. Not just the subs, but the front stage as well.
  9. We'll call those parts, "Optional Extras".

    Fixable?

Go buy some quarter round and glue that in the corners or if you have wood left over cut some 3/4" x 3/4" x ..." long strips and glue them in the corners. I reamed a guy at HD once because he put his knee against the MDF on the panel saw. As he bent down he pushed the MDF ~ 5/8" as he was cutting it. He thought he was doing a good job until I measured the cut/offset. He didn't do that on the replacement sheet I went and got off the rack. These were not critical cuts, just to get them in the car to take home. Nobody cares about your stuff more then you do!! That's why I do everything I can myself.

    Happy Birthday Mark LaFountain

Happy Birthday, down a few for me. :drink40: That^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is not optional.
  12. Great job Sir! You'll have to drag a net behind your yukon to catch the parts that fall off of it going down the road!

    Happy Birthday Impious

Happy Birthday!! Thanks for all your help in the past.
  14. So far it looks great. Dealing with that much cable has got to be a PITA. I've been in a Yukon, walled 32 hz tune, 4-Orion 15" h2 subs driven by 4 Orion 2500d amps. The boxes, individual, were modified by me to Orion specs. This was loud, but I've no idea how they'd compare to some of the subs today. Your setup has got to be absolutely nuts. On a side note, How much balance does your system have? Or put another way, how well does the proaudio gear keep up with your sub stage at full tilt, or can it? I'm just curious, as I've never been in anything like your truck. Keep up the the great work! Where did you the amps for the front/rear stages?
  15. There's always something you/we all overlook from time to time, no worries. It's great to have buddies to help out in a pinch.

    My Mind Is Blown

I hope I never get behind someone like that. It'd probably be obvious though, 10 carts of stuff and 2 carts of coupons.

    Ferdinand - in for Surgery

Good to here all went well. Hopefully a quick recovery! Will he be wearing a cone when he comes home? So he doesn't remove his staples. My moms neighbor got a "whiplash" collar for her dog after surgery, it allows them to eat and drink without problems. Something to ask the vet about anyway.

t/s specs vs actual sound quality

While I'm no authority on the subject, I'll go out on a limb and say no. It seems to me that the distortion measurements, as well as other types of distortion that I don't fully understand, would be an important part of the equation that are not represented by the T.S. parameters. I don't know that they can be modeled in a program, I'd assume they cannot, which is why actual measurements must be taken. As far as standards go, I don't believe there is a standard. Take sensitivity for example, 1 watt @ 1 meter vs. 2.83 volts @ 1 meter. I'd assume that's one of the most basic measurements. Even then I think frequency comes into play. I saw something recently that was rated @ .5 meters for sensitivity. The CEA compliant crap that came out years ago never made sense to me. How many people with a "good" amount of power can maintain 14.4 volts constant? There always seems to be some angle that someone uses to represent their product to be better then it really is. I chalk it up to marketing hype. Please correct me where I'm wrong. The last thing I want to do is misinform people, there are plenty of those around as it is.

t/s specs vs actual sound quality

There are some great minds/experience in this thread attempting to remove misinformation. I'm still trying to get my head around the T.S. parameters and how they can help me choose a better driver for my likes and application. I believe equipment, installation and tuning all play a role in achieving the end goal, but as soon as you put a person in front of the drivers there is no longer a standard for good sound. I've seen allot of arguments in my day as to whether sound quality is subjective or not, by definition I believe it is not. The only thing I can do is find a frequency response curve that I find pleasing to my ears and try to reproduce it to the best of my ability with the options available to me. Quote by ibanender from first post. I've underlined two spots in your original post that make this a loaded question. This question simply can't be answered without more information. This question is subjective and the answer/s would be 100% subjective and relative to a persons goals. I'm certainly not the smartest or most experienced member here, far from it actually. Nor am I the first to state that it cannot be answered. If you believe there is a clear winner here, I'd like to hear your conclusion and why.

    Active Front Stage Build

Thanks man! It's been a slow process! This doesn't matter as long as there is progress, you're getting closer to the finish. The enclosure looks great, BTW!!

09 silverado crewcab LT IAK worktruck THE REMIX

While I wasn't able to find anything available from seat manufactures, besides a custom seat maybe, I had the thought of a "suspension seat" for your rear seat. If you were to go with a mesh of some type you could then fire the woofers and/or port up without the seat blocking the air. I don't know what it would cost to have the stock seat frame rebuilt with cutouts for a mesh insert, but it could be worth looking into, just a thought. If you were able to move the rear seat forward a couple of inches you could put the port along the back wall of the cab. These are just a couple of ideas I've had while watching this build. I have no idea if they are practical without having a truck like yours in front of me to get the wheels turning on a possible solution to you goals.
  22. HaHa, going to put a safari rack on the roof with a spare and some lights come to think of it. Good spot for extra batts, with some creative wiring, maybe. It could free up some room. I'm only half kidding. I'd go black on the roof equipment. It would match your theme for your kick ass ride. Bold word from a FORD guy. How's this for prodding. You won't do it. I'm a dick, I know. Sorry.
  23. You know you could always use the roof, inside or our, Prime real estate.
  24. I'm definitely still here. "Time to do work" < Big Black quote.

    Kevin S

Everyone will look upon this with their own eyes and decide on whether they want to do business with Kevin or not. I will not be doing any business with Kevin, ever, that's only my opinion on how things were handled. I think this is a great site made up of great administrators and members. I've not done any business with Mark or other vendors, but I have with Jacob, and he impressed me with the steps he took to make sure I was happy. Jacob has a customer for life. I would have no problem highly recommending him to anyone. I will do business with other vendors on this in the future because SSA members state very similar situations/results, to mine. I'm sure Mark, Aaron and others, admins and/or vendors, will keep an eye on things and take action as necessary. I asked early on in this thread to keep communication out in the open so we all could see for ourselves how/how long it would take to be resolved. I commend the admins. for allowing this to happen. This confirms what an awesome site this really is. Thank you SSA!!
