    experiences with db-r?

Bought my SAE 1200d v2 from them. Works perfectly. And with a year warranty. Couldn't have asked for better.
  2. Completely forgot to check that. But I made a vid today. Ignore the paper/bottle nonsense. And the horrible bass pick up mics have. I think it looks/sounds decent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNI2rF0jguQ
  3. Well, got a new Kenwood KDC X794 headunit, set my gains with a dmm (BL 12 btw, powered by a SAE 1200d) to 34v using the gain setting formula here in the forum. And I still don't think my sub is reaching potential. At BEST I get an inch of excursion, and almost every video of other BL 12's ive seen do better than this. I don't think the problem is a LACK of electrical, since my lights dim hardly at all and my voltage never drops below 13.5 (stock electric). But I think there could be a bottleneck somewhere in the electrical. Could this be the problem? I've done the Big 3. I'm not sure what else it could be.
  4. Yeah he kinda ignored my questions about that... lol Sorry guys. It's a 2.5 cu. ft tuned to 33hz. Built by Andrew from Argent Audio.
  5. Only problem I can see with that is that I have a good bit of port noise. and by the way, what is the optimal tuning note?
  6. I'm going to call the local car audio shop and HOPEFULLY they'll have an O-scope.
  7. I don't know how loud is TOO loud. This is my first serious system. Have never heard a subwoofer clip before.
  8. So I turned the sub level all the way up, and reset the gain again using my ear. It is much louder, but I am worried that I could be harming the sub. I hooked up the DMM to the speaker outputs and noticed that during some songs the voltage rises above 34 (what the gain setting formula gave me). Is this a problem? Also I'm not sure what clipping or distortion sound like from a sub >.< The notes sounded clean to me. Also the cone was warm after playing a few songs. Assuming this is normal?
  9. Zero. Stop using a DMM, trust your ears. Turn the level all the way up and slowly turn up the gain. When you see the woofer is stressed, back off the gain. So subwoofer levels should be all the way up on HU? Thought that was always a bad thing.
  10. It's one way. But hmm, didn't realize 18mm was that. Thanks though.
  11. IF he wants that power, which i wouldn't try to do on that amp and sub combo. Ohhhhh. Fi SSD. Didn't catch that, sorry. I was going by my BL, which would take all that power. Sorry Yeah, don't go by what I said.
  12. As a general rule, voltage=sqrt(watts X impedence) so, volts=sqrt(1200 X 1) volts~34 therefore, when setting gains with that DMM, play the 50hz tone with the hu at 3/4, with the speaker unhooked, and with the DMM on AC, shoot for 34 volts.
  13. I have always seen to use a 50-60hz sine wave note when setting gains with a DMM. And this is what I did, I downloaded a 50hz and 45hz note from realmofexcursion.com and went to set my gains. The number I was aiming for was 34 volts, and I did it first with the 50hz, and reached 34 volts. But then, out of curiosity I played the 45hz tone and the output voltage went way up. Like around 45 volts. I was not expecting this jump. I always thought the voltage would be higher in the 50-60hz range?
  14. Nah, all boosts are always turned off. ALTHOUGH, I was using my ipod as the signal, connected straight to the amp, could be the issue? you have bass Boost on on your iPod? Never turned on. I think I'll download the 55hz and 60hz and try those and see what numbers I'm getting.

  16. Speaker was unhooked. Thought you were supposed to do it with the speaker unhooked? Subsonic set to about 30hz Crossover to about 100hz.

    Great deal on 0 guage

Could always cut pre-measured sections off and sell over eBay or something?

I posted a thread a couple days ago about my Fi BL 12 having low output. Thought I'd make a video today that may be better. Any help would be great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWIuMzCh2e0

I'm going to test some new RCAs tomorrow. But I'll probably get the new HU anyways, as it'll be needed for a future component amp. And it'll send a MUCH better signal.. And it just looks cool For thieves make sure you get a detachable face.....and a good quality one. Hell i have a cheap pioneer that was like 60 bucks This is the one i've been looking at. http://www.crutchfield.com/s_113KDCX794/Kenwood-Excelon-KDC-X794.html?tp=5684

Yeah, I need to do that. This is the one I'm using. Just has adjustable levels. http://www.amazon.com/Audiopipe-NR100-High-Level-Converter/dp/B000WME9X0

I know it isn't getting full excursion. Probably because of a few factors (the speaker terminals were outputting 32volts instead of 34 during this test, AND, the sub hasn't been broken in at all yet) But yet, a lot more output than previously. Disclaimer: As you all probably know, the sub does not sound this absolutely horrible in person, it's just the mic (Especially "In the Air Tonight" xD). It sound clean, I promise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh2UYWogAbo
