How much power do I dare put in an FI 15BTL?

Oh ok...... this will only be to compete or to brag. The way it is now it is pretty darn loud and I do not listen to it at those levels. I thought my mail did not go out so I sent you the email with the pics in it again..sorry..

Oh shit...I'm afraid to ask ...depends on what?..lol

How much power do I dare put in an FI 15BTL?

Hey Jay-cee, Well that's just it. with the new box I can drive them all he way without clipping too bad. Now I want to add more power. (as soon as the second Iraggi alt is in there) Hey did you get the pics I sent??

    Lowest acceptable voltage

Nope...Nothing wrong. there are two decent amps and two smaller amps. When cranked your voltage will drop. Just need to add the second Alt. Greetings from Curacao.

    Lowest acceptable voltage

I rebuilt my box and actually made an advance in performance. The amps can be driven more before they want to clip. My question is, when I measured the voltage (at Idle) while driving the system higher, the voltage on my two Kinetik 3800's dropped to 12.4 volts. I do have another Iraggi 260 Amp Alternator. Do you think I should install it? I wouldn't play it at this level normally but only to either brag or at a competition. Advise please. Thanks, JR

    Lowest acceptable voltage

Thanks Guys for the advise. I have an additional Iraggi 260 amp alternator. Yes the voltage comes up with RPM BUT The thing is, Island driving is like life at idle. So..... I'll go ahead and install the second alt. I need to change the fan shroud, install the second alt brackets, add another pulley to the crankshaft pulley and do the wiring. Yes, All wires are Zero gauge and the big 3 was the first thing that was done. The nice thing is that with this second alt I can go up in amp power as well....lol I also have two Batcap 4000's that I'll add. Many thanks guys. I'll let you know how it works out. It will be about a week.... JR

    Noise help

I recently installed an inexpensive amp (Pyramid 4 channel 1600w) for the 4 mids and highs but now have a noise when ever I turn up the gains of this amp. I have a noise filter on the positive lead to the radio but still have this. Can this be from the cheap amp or the Iraggi alternator? It was not there before. Any ideas??? Thanks, JR

    Noise help

Yup, That will teach me to skim on the rest of the system. Big difference. Am thinking of adding another amp and adding two more mids and highs tomorrow. Hope to fine tune it. This stuff is in an E-350 Van so I have a big area to fill.

    Noise help

Good call!!! Figured out what was causing the noise. Swapped the Amp out for another Hifoincs and also used shielded RCA cables. Noise and whine are gone. Awesome.
  14. Anyone know where I can get a new plug and wires for the Pioneer FH-P6200? Looked everywhere without any luck. Help please. Thanks. JR

    Noise help

ok...will redo all this afternoon. I am not using the RCA's for input but the speaker wires coming from the radio. Thanks, JR Rechecked all wires. From battery to radio to amp to speakers and back. Even installed an additional ground directly from the radio to the chassis of the car but the damn noise is still there. What a pain in da butt... Question. I did blow a fuse over the weekend by a short that I accidentally made. Could this have damaged the noise filter in anyway?? Maybe I should try an additional noise filter..what do you think??

    Noise help

I have heard where the ho alternator could be a problem but I would suggest you check your amp and headunits grounds (they me be bad). Hey Jay-cee, Wassup. How were the holidays? Hope all that is good come your way this year. The amp is connected directly to the batt and so is the radio. You suggest another ground directly to the body?. I already have the big 3 done. This is why I'm lost..
  18. Hi all. I am looking for a wiring diagram for the plug of a Pioneer FH-P6200. I have the plug but no wires in it. I need to know in which pin position which wire has to go. Thanks, JR
  19. Howdy, I need some help here. I have two FI 15 BTL subs. Double voice coil, heat ring, etc, etc all options on the sub and built for daily playing. I have two brutus 2600's run by a controller. the amps or subs are not wired together. I also have installed besides the two 850 cranking amp ford battereis, two Kinetik 3800 watt batteries. The altrnator is (was) a 250Amp altenator built by Excessive amperage. After a week to 10 days the alternator gave out. I mean fried. I never ran the system at full power because I am still breaking in the subs. What could have caused the alternator to fry?? or was it just a bad alternator?? Altogether the system at full power is +/- 10400 watts. If I add my batteries together I get 28000 watts so I have more then double what would actually be needed. Anyone with a big system have any advise??? Many thankis appreciate it. JR
  20. Great. I know the amps were not clipping cause the controller I used has clipping warning. This was not the case. I think there was a combination of things that caused the failure. The reason I got pissed actually was because if the system was not putting out what I assumed then the problem it self became different. Ok there are not putting out that much....et,etc, well then what the hell did the alt in??..these thoughts were crossing my mind. I think the combination of the stock pulley being on there, idling and cranking it at what ever it is putting out did it. I also did not charge the batteries to full capacity before installing them. I assumed (again) that driving the van without the system being one would charge them in a hurry with a 250 amp alternator. As soon as the new stuff arrives, I'm charging the batteries with an independent charger and then install them. In one forum I asked how many batteries did I need. All suggestions were basically as many as you can. So I guess the two Kinetik 3800 along with the two BATCAP 4000's will be wired into the regular charging system with the 350 Amp alternator. im tellin you man you dont need 6 batteries along with that 350 alt. at most three in the back and 1 under your hood. and probably need even that. youll just put more strain on your alt if you do this. Ok...The van has two batteries to begin with. I Only added the two kinetik 3800's. Lets see what happens with the 350 Amp alt and the smaller pulley.
  21. Ok what do you suggest then? After I have all this stuff installed I'll measure the voltage at the last battery to see what happens when I crank it. But the clipping what do you suggest?

  23. I just want to be able to play the system at a high output for maybe a song or so with out having to worry about the alt frying. One thing.........I'll make damn sure, of is that I have the smaller pulley installed and certainly not at idle ever again. The Gaines right now are at about half since they recommended I do not play the subs at full power until they( break in?) In reality do you want to take a stab at what this system would be putting out in terms of power? 2 x Hifonics Brutus 2610D amplifiers stating to put out 2600watts RMS at 1 Ohm. Both FI 15 BTL's are wired for 1 Ohm. All zero gauge wires from batteries directly to amplifier. No power block. Ground and all other wires from alt have also been upgraded to zero gauge. You suppose if I keep these into consideration just the 1 350 amp alt would suffice? thanks, JR
  24. Hahaha funny. So you realize I do not know how much I actually need. But your answer makes me feel safe. Thanks. What I meant with playing as loud as I want and for as long is ...being able to play it maybe one song at the really high output and not having to watch ..oh wait...I have been playing at this high level for 45 seconds so I have to stop before I fry the alt. The pulley is straight forward. I wasn't aware that the smaller pulley was changed back to the stock larger one. I have a smaller belt being FedEx'ed right now so Ican use that small pulley. Basically the new kit will have an additional tension-er as well if I choose to run the second alt. Just one last question please. Will one 350 amp Alt be enough or do I absolutely have to run both if I want to be able to play for any extend of time??? This is some good advice guys..Many thanks.
