  1. what as an mla? After i got my alt installed the shop hooked a machine up that read how meny amps my car was pulling. and it was pulling 113 amps with everything off at idle How are you so sure it's a draw? I thought that's what mine was because it was acting the same way.. only at idle.. dropping down to 12 volts and all it was was a vacuum tube. Not saying that's what it is, but I am saying that just because voltage is dropping, doesn't mean something is drawing significant amounts of power out of nowhere. There could be an engine/alternator problem. Right there in red. My Apologies. I over read that portion.

    Bass knob?

BTW, I stated above I like bass knobs.. I need to correct myself. I meant to say I like the RCA and Gain knobs... all bass knobs (bass boost knobs) are NOT good. CrazyKen pretty much covered what's good and what's not.

    Bass knob?

It's all personal preference. I wouldn't recommend one that is a bass "boost" knob though. And I think I'm speaking for 90% of the people on here when I say that. However, Bass level control knobs are fine, and I find them quite useful. I wouldn't base my purchase on an amp on whether or not it comes with a control knob though. You can always buy an RCA knob from almost anywhere and run it to any amp for cheap.
  5. I had this problem a couple days ago, I checked under the hood to find that a hose (some sort of vacuume hose) had come loose from my engine and was just sucking air, causing my car to idle rough and drop down to the mid 12's voltage wise. I connected the hose back to the engine and haven't had a problem since.

    2-18 bl's in a sealed box?

I'd sell the BL's and pick up a couple Q's or SSD's and have a little extra play money. Or at least Recone the BL's smaller to fit in an optimal ported enclosure

Hello SSA Best 12 inch sub + box for dubstep under 200$

Why are you so hell-bent on buying a new sub if you don't mind me asking? Since you haven't heard its potential in an optimal enclosure yet. You could build a nice box and be blown away with what you already have. I'd at least try it, and if you don't like it, THEN go towards getting the new driver. Could save you 75-150. Just my .2

My first home made bass track

well here's the deal. I've been into music production and recording engineering for a few years now. I've just recently got the idea to incorporate these skills into my car audio hobby. I'm posting a song below which I produced myself that peaks around 43-48 hz. I know it's not quite as low as most of you like to pound to, but hey it's my first attempt at making one of these. I'd like to get some feedback from you guys as to what you think I should do as far as going about making these tracks. I'd love to continue making them for the fellow members to use in their demo's/videos. If you guys could check out the song, download it and try it out and leave some feedback and/or videos, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. I really wanna get into this and incorporating my music skills with this field of interest. Thanks guys!! Here's the link. EDIT: CDP stands for Cellar Door Productions, my little production company. And yes, those are my vocals.
  16. I had a guy offer me a Kinetik HC600 for $30 today. He said it was in good condition and everything, just trying to get rid of all his old equipment for his new build. Are these things any good, and is this a good price for one? I was planning on getting an extra battery for my trunk soon anyway so this may help.. what do you guys think?

    New SSD vs Old SSD

I wouldn't consider an SA-8 a "complete downgrade" from an SSD... Those little farts can put a hurt on a man. Also goal dependent.. The guys burped 150+ off a single SA-8. youtube it. As far as the old vs. new, duran is right. Pretty much just a motor change to a midget BTL motor. The copper coils did add a little more power handling.. but a couple hundred watts isn't going to be audible.
  19. Could you be running your amp at too low of an impedance? Most amps will just go into protect and stay there if this is the case, or if it's a cheap amp, will just fry. Take a DMM to your terminals with the volume up to where the light comes on and see if you're getting a number below the amps stability.

    Free Bravox (Video Contest)

Well I ended up getting called into work right after school today when I planned on shooting my video so I guess I'm out However I did get the song recorded the other night.. I'll probably post it on here just for giggles and let you all see what I was going to be working with. I would do the video tomorrow but I have to work too.. so by the time I got around it'd be past the deadline wish I saw this thread sooner.. Really needed those speakers haha
  21. Sorry for being a thread whore tonight guys but I got a chance to really sit down on my laptop and do stuff and not work through my phone. ANYWAY Question: Can there be a certain tuning for a sealed box depending on size? IE: If you have a 1^3ft box sealed, and a 2^3ft box sealed, would the frequency response be the same with both boxes with the same driver? I've always wondered if there was a way to get a sealed box to produce lower frequencies with a good amount of output without having to port. Pretty much every sealed box I've heard peaks around 45-60hz and doesn't hit lows (35hz and lower) well at all. I didn't know if there was some kind of formula or concept that would alter the response in a sealed box. I know that it's pretty much flat, but is it like that in ALL cases? Just an idea I've been pondering on.. People ask me why their subs don't hit "low notes" good, and I reply with "you have a sealed box, a low tuned ported box would perform better." But then they usually ask why, and I'm stuck with a crooked face

Thanks for the feedback guys! Much appreciated. I'd love to see it played in your guys setups

I'll be sure to do some with different peaks. Mostly lower (30-37hz). Just keep on the lookout for my posts
