You know, I am currently torn between the two BL and Q. I am not looking for the highest decibel levels, but I wanna move a lot of air. The BL has only 18mm Xmax, the Q has 27mm Xmax. Thats 9mm more than the BL, it should move more air, have more SQ and take the same amount of power Right? Thanks for any input.

I know I have a car audio addiction when......

I love this thread, you know you are an audioholic when... You spend every last dime on wires, the battery in you flashlight runs out and you cant afford any new batts. Its 12:00 midnight and you are wiring your system in the parking lot of an apartment complex by candlelight.... In a rain storm. FTW! -
I need to know the magnet diameter of the current model BL and Q. I am thinking of upgrading my subs in the future and would like to use my current box and need the mag OD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my install of 4 Fi X12's. Not any pics ome building the box, I was kinda in a hury but I have the finished product. Installed in a 1990 GMC Sierra ext cab long box, KnuKonseptz 1/0 gauge wire from batt to dis block, 4 gauge from dis block to amp. All 8 gauge inside sub box (I know, it's over kill.), Box is 8.2 cu ft after all displacements, port is 6.5"x16.5"x19.5" deep, tuned to 33 hertz. I will be installing Pioneer 6x9's and a Kenwood amp that I have. The head unit is Kenwwod. The amp is Power Acoustiks "4000.1". All stock speakers for now.

Well he wouldn't get statutory if he live in Nevada, at least I heard their limit is 16 there. You could mix the other comments together, A dildo, glued to a subwoofer, in a box...

tuned to 33 hertz.

do yourself a favor and ditch the power akoustic amp and pick up a real 4000rms amp cause the akoustic isn't putting out close to 4000....also I'd get a high output alternator and do the big 3 Please don't insult me by believing that I believe that the Power Acoustik amp really pushes 4000 watts. Do you think I would put 4000 watts to 1200 watt worth of sub? I bought the amp because it was cheap, not because it could push "4000" watts. This was kind of a budget build. I have all the wire to do the big three, I just don't find it necessary with only 1200 watts right now, and I do plan on getting a HO alt, I'm watching one on ebay right now...

Sounds great, I thought it would hit harder than it does, no hair tricks or anything but it pounds pretty good. Thinking of upgrading to to some 12" Q's in the future, in the same box. I've got the Pioneer TS-D690R's hooked up to a Kenwood 500 watt amp in and they scream! I'll get some vids in later. I don't know how ***** ***** and all those guys handle those doors they make with all that treble, just the 6x9's i've got are ear piercing.

I ordered 4 Fi x12's for thier Black FiDay sale, that was eleven days ago. The order status still sez, "Your order is being processed, payment is being carried out by paypal". They debited my paypal account last week, the subs were premade, just wondering when they will update the shipping status. My fiance doesn't like ordering off the internet and she's freakin out like i'm gonna lose almost $300. I know this sites legit, I 'm just very anxious as I have all the stuff to hook up the new system besides the subs. If any of you Fi Guys can look into it for me that would be great. Thanks.

I was thinking of spraying the port sometime, I was just in a big hury to here the subs. I live in Owosso, get on M21 and head east and your there. I will post a vid sometime in the next couple days.

It happens. Cant wait for the build log as I wanted to see these in a good pic when they were on sale. If you dont like them after the install, you know where to off them at. Actually, I'll be installing them in a truck very similar to yours. 1990 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab without the back seat. You can just imagine it's your vehicle if you want .

Got them in the mail 4 hours after my post, I feel like an idiot now. I will post pics and a build log in the next couple days. Yeah, I ordered all the X12's, great looking subs. I wired them to 8 ohms and hooked them up to a small 100watt house amp, sounded great for not being in a box yet.

Hello, I am new to the forum. I just purchased 4 Fi X12's on sale from Fi. I was wondering what kind of box I should use with them. I would like ported for more air movement. The Fi website does not have any recommendations for the sub besides the size of the box. "sealed= 0.9-1.3 Ported=1.6-2.2" cubic ft. I was looking for some kind of calculator for port size and what frequency would be good with these subs. They are going in a 1990 GMC Sierra ext cab w/removed back seat. they will be in a straight line. Should I enclose each separately or all in one enclosure with one port? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think the Power Acoustik team is a little over confident in thier ratings. The BAMF 4000.1 has three 40 amp fuses, 120 X 14.4 volts = 1728 watts. That is 100% efficiency, highly improbable. 75% efficiency would be 1296 watts, that sounds more like it. I weighed the odds before I bought the amp, even for a 1300 watt amp it was cheap compared to Kicker, Rockford or any other "big" brand car audio. I just hope it performs well and sounds good.

Thanks for the info, I don't think I'll need anyone to design a box for me, that's half the fun. I've built a lot of sealed boxes for myself and friends, just never got into the dark art of tuning a box. I redesigned a box if you would like to look at it. The new port is 16.5 X 7 X 19.5". The box volume is 8.22 cu ft after port and sub displacement. I will most likely add reinforcements to get the Vb down to 8 cu ft even. Here is a google sketch up I made. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=41992ace70283e3a52821eea365695fe

I have one more question about tuning the box I plan to build. I have been using this calculator. http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 I type in the amount of subs (4), the Xmax (16mm), and the freq (33hertz). It tells me I need 115.7 sq inches of port. The box I have designed using Google Sketch up (nice program) only has 31.25 sq inches of port at 32.08 hertz. Will this hinder the performance of the subs or make alot of port noise??? Is it all together a bad idea to have a quarter of the recommended port area??? The port I created is 12.5" X 2.5" and 6.5" deep into the box. The box volume is 6.62 cu ft. One port, making 32.08 hertz. Any info and comments would be great, thanks.

Oh, sorry. I'll be using a Power Acoustiks BAMF "4000watt" amp. The speakers are 300 RMS each making 1200RMS together. The amp pushes "1700 watts" at 2ohm but I think they are being over confident with there specs. The amount of spce I have is 60"LX13"DX25"H. I listen to just about every thing, rap, rock, classic rock, country (yes, country), just about anything.
