im going to be running the sax-100.4 amp with a set of 6 1/2 components in the front and some 6X9 in the rear, deck is alpine cda-9885. my question is how can i run the front components speakers and the rear speakers active using the same amp ? i thought i read somewhere you can do that with this amp im just not sure how if it only has 4 channels. isn't it one channel per speaker? or should i just run the front with the amp and rear of the deck ? any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated thank you!
-
yes they do Then you can't do active. Unless you cut the crossover out. Right. If you hook them up to your amp that would be passive. In order to do active you remove the crossover and hook up each speaker to a separate channel. You can only have 4 speakers with that amp. Head Unit --> Crossover --> Amplifier --> Speakers per speaker correct? You won't need an external crossover with that amp, it has all the needed crossover settings built in. so i should just run the front with the amp and the rear 6X9 from the deck? would you run the system passive or active?

wondering if any one could give me some input on what they think good components are other than focal ? yes your right not a hole lot of information there now here is all the information i replied to and gave out. amp is going to be the sax 100.4 going on a mazda millenia with 2 sa-8 subs on a sae 1200d just looking for really clear sound out of the speakers not really doing any type of competitions just an overall good sounding system i listen to.. really every type of music i like a lot of rock and rap and r&b so im looking for some components that just have good clarity sound. my goal is i want a system that i can just play anything and just sound amazing. im not looking for the best system out there cuz obviously im not gona have that. as far as budget .. just not stupid priced i would be willing to spend 600 on a good set of components as long as they are worth the money (meaning i dont want to spend 600 on some focal speakers when i know there are some out there cheeper and better ) as far as me going out there and just listen to speakers ... well i would love to do that but thats my problem any of the good audio stores in town ther idea of a good component is focal the only other one worth even mentioning in town would be treo engineering and i really dont want to get them (long story) so thats why im looking for suggestions on other components so i can maybe find them by brand in town or find someone that has them and try them out . in other words im trying to narrow my search . -

im not upset it just seams like every post i read that he reply's to he comes off kinda rude. so ive kinda have stuck with that . im sorry for posting again the same comment there is just soooo many post just a lot to read . ill try to find what im looking for next time before i post something else again . have you ever heard of digital design ? Yea I have heard of them being good SPL subs. But I don't know about component speakers. I would go listen to speakers at a high end car audio place. I am sure they have something around you. That is seriously the best way to get the idea of what you like/want. For all we know you would like metal dome tweeters versus silk dome cuz your ears like it and it isn't that harsh for you. So again the best thing is to go listen. I don't want someone telling you something THEY like because you might not like it and not be satisfied. You want to get something that your going to be happy with for along time versus doing what I did and go through 4 component speakers and I coulda saved all that money and bought a 800 dollar component set haha. well thats my problem any of the good audio stores in town ther idea of a good component is focal the only other one worth even mentioning in town would be treo engineering and i really dont want to get them (long story) so thats why im looking for suggestions so i can maybe find them by brand in town or find someone that has them and try them out -

I have a comp set of Memphis (see sig for info) and they sound very good to my ears, morel are fantastic but thats if you wanna spend 500+ a set, polk sound nice for the price. Personally i think MB quart DSH 213 sound good for the price too. thanks for your input ! unlike other people on here ! My recommendation is the same as others you gotta go out and listen to some yourself, everybody has different taste in there sound. But you dont give us a budget to work with to know what to offer and what not, you didnt tell us your tweeter preference (soft dome, hard dome, cone, horn etc.), what goals or sound your geared towards? well i listen to.. really every type of music i like a lot of rock and rap and r&b so im looking for some components that just have good clarity sound. my goal is i want a system that i can just play anything and just sound amazing. im not looking for the best system out there cuz obviously im not gona have that. as far as budget .. just not stupid priced i would be willing to spend 600 on a good set of components as long as they are worth the money (meaning i dont want to spend 600 on some focal speakers when i know there are some out there cheeper and better ) -

the ones you really want are FLUKE volt meters. they have been around for a very long time and are very very good. i have 2 of them and i love them, but they are pricey.

ok! I have just a general question on spl boxes . lets say you have a box that can do a db of 150 in a ... lets say... a suburban now lets say you have two duplicate set ups two same boxes, two same amps , two same subs and you put both boxes in the same car would you end up with 300 db? now i know its more technical then being able to stick the same boxes together to make more db's , so whats the science behind this? also i know that its hard just to have the power going to the amps for a single setup none the less two setups so lets just say the power is coming from an outside source into this suburban ones again just looking for the science to all this.
-
i personally would go with the 4500 if you have the money . you can always tone it down and if you want to get different or more subs later then you already have the amp for it .

thanks for the answer very helpful! Will a spl box doing lets say 150 db in a tahoe then same box put in lets say a charger will it be different do to the vehicles acoustics ?

thank you that is the type of answer i was looking for .
