The smallest points would be 30" Deep x 33.25" Wide x 15.5" Tall
-
My back seats do fold down but I would only have 29" wide (there is a plastic piece that makes a 1/2 circle shape behind my seats). When I open the trunk and measure the smallest width across, it's 33" wide.

For an enclosure to fill up my trunk completely (2011 Mazda 3 Sedan) it would have to be 30" Deep x 37.5" Wide x 15.5" Tall.

Looks like everyone is saying that tuning your enclosures frequency to the cabin will give you SPL and not SQ. I was curious about that question since I'm planning on starting a build for two 12" Icons. Thanks all for the quick replys!

I was talking to a guy in an audio shop and he was telling me about how each vehicle has a specific hz range which if you have your box set to that hz, that your subwoofer would sound louder in your vehicle. Which of course, the box would have to be built to the spec of the subwoofer. For example, if you have a blazer and its "specific hertz" (lets say it's 40hz), so if you have the box tuned @ 40hz then your sub would be playing at optimum loudness in a blazer. Is this true or false?

I built the box that my current sub is in now, which it looks decent and sounds good. I have a 12" SSA Icon in it, I believe its a 2.3 cu. @ 33hz. For me to build the enclosure it costed me around $90 with all the materials. I have an 12" RD Alpha V.2 and an extra SSA Icon just sitting in my basement. Which is why I decided to build or have a box build for two 12" Icons and then put my RD Alpha in the box that I currently have. Here is my question. I found an ad to a guy who builds enclosures that is an hour away (one way). He posted this link http://www.ksl.com/?...20&lpid== It shows some of his designs and from his designs it leads me to believe that he knows what he is doing. He said he will build me a box for $135 if I paid up front today and he would have the enclosure built by Friday. I told him that the subs are a little heavier and might need a double baffle. He said that he will do a double baffle extra $10 for a bigger box of screws and extra glue. I then asked him what type of enclosure he would be building and he said that he has done a couple duals with 1 port on 1 side. 3 angle port, helps push a lot of air. most times if facing forward does hair tricks. (im assuming he's talking about the port) What do you guys think, should I have him build my enclosure, or do it myself?

I built the box that my SSA 12" Icon is in right now originally for my 12" RD Alpha V2, which the box is 2.3 cubes tuned to 33hz. Just the basic "L" shaped port. I found an ad on KSL for a box build that said he could build me a custom ported box for $250, when I know if I can get help from you guys that I could build it for less than half that, plus he said that "You should probably go with two 10" subs since the 12" subs have a harder time keeping up" which made me really want to do my own box and not this joker. I listen to mostly techno, rap, hip hop, and heavy metal. Should I basically build the same box again or should I build a different box? I want a box that will make the sub louder than it is now on the types of music I listed but still sound good with the chest pounding bass. I can get the measurements of my trunk tomorrow to let you know what size of box I can fit back there and here is a video of my RD Alpha V2 in the box before I got my Icon, enjoy

Someone on this forum has to have this HU. I called Pioneer and the guy wasn't helpful at all! He told me that my unit DOES play video, but after he ran through the 3-4 things for me to do and since I didn't get any video, he told me it was my cable (which is brand new, but it was a knockoff one). I read reviews and on Pioneer's site it says to get the CD-IU50V cable for the 3200BT HU, so I bought the actual CD-IU50V cable, and I still don't have any video! My video settings on my Ipod: Captioning: Off Set it to "Widescreen" I have it set to "NTSC" What I do is, make the HU take control and then I press the magnifying glass, switch it over to Movies (not Music), go to Videos, I choose a video, and I just get the tracks info on the screen and the song plays, but there ISN'T any video. Can someone please help!?! Is there a certain ratio that it needs to be to play?

Anyone have the Pioneer 3200BT HU? I have had mine for over a year now and I just recently bought the aux in/usb cable to play video from my ipod. Except there is one problem. . . I can't figure out how to get video to play on the HU, I have looked on the unit manual online and the video portion appears to be for a 3200DVD and when I am just using my Ipod it will play the music video's, but once I plug it into my HU I can get audio but no video. Anyone know how to fix this?
-
I bought a cable that is just like it with a aux and usb to ipod. My HU can play songs off the ipod, and from the HU I can choose to control the songs from either the Ipod or the HU, the HU even says "Ipod" when I connect to it.

Anyone?

Since no one really answered any of my questions in Post #1 I was hoping that maybe someone could help me figure out my Multimeter so I can make sure that I know what my amplifier will be throwing at my sub. I have this multimeter, http://www.amazon.com/Powerbuilt-648349-Digital-Multi-Meter/dp/B004KEFE80 and all the video's i've seen on how they test the subwoofer ohm's with it, they put the dial @ 200 in the Ohms area. Mine will stay a solid 1 whether i'm touching anything or not with the needles. The only reading in the Ohms area i've gotten was in the 20k, and it reads out @ 10.13-10.15, this is with the negative needle on a negative push terminal and the positive in the positive terminal.

I am trying to get me an enclosure for two 12" Icons, However I would like to put a few small changes to the box to make it look a little better than the "average box", but I need a little help. How do you Flare your port? If I put a plexiglass window on top, would that affect the sound at all, and how do you put a plexiglass window on a box without breaking the plexiglass? What type of paint is the best to use on MDF, for the flared port? Would it be better to have the rectangular port, round port, or will it not really make a difference? And where is the cheapest place to buy carpeting? Cheapest I found locally was $7 a foot. Also depending on price I might even be interested in just having someone build me a box, so if you build box's and would be interested in building a box for two 12" Icons, PM me a quote please, thanks!

My dad will be helping me with the design and he has been in the wood working business for a long time, he even built his own house lol, so he has quite a bit of experience with wood work, so I'm not to worried about the building piece of it. I just wanted to see if there was anyone on here that could give me advice or help me decide on a design. One thing I am for sure on with the design is that I want the port to be flared and the subs to sit flush. Can anyone tell me how to flare a port properly? and when doing a double baffle, will I just need enough MDF to support the area inside the box where the sub will be mounted? I was also thinking about maybe doing plexiglass on the top of the box, how do you do plexiglass on a box and will it make the box sound any different?

I ordered two 12" D1 Icons and want to build a box for them before they get here, but I have only built one box before and have had three pre-fab box's before. In all of my sub setups (total of 4) it seemed that my very first enclosure "folded horn" box which is what the salesman told me it was. . Was it actually a folded horn box, I have no idea, BUT according to everyone else apparently you could hear me about 5 blocks away with two 10" memphis subs 250rms each. That box seemed the cleanest i've ever had and it had the port in the middle of the box with a wall in the middle of the port running parallel with it, so basically each subwoofer had its own chamber. My question is, will the Icon's sound better and get louder in the SSA recommended Icon enclosure, or does anyone know of an enclosure design that would sound better?

Two 12" Icons Going to be my first SSA product!
-
I waited over the weekend to see if the Icons went on the "Outrageous Deal" but they didn't haha but since they're still at a very good price I am going to buy two of them and wanted to make sure that I will get a 1 ohm load on my amp with 2 subs if I buy two D1 subs. Is this correct?
-
Awesome, ordering them now Anyone know when SSA will have the new box layout for the new SSA Icons? I read a post from one of the reps that said they are working on getting enclosure specs for the new Icons. Oh and one thing I've been worried about is that my electrical is all stock and my alternator is 90a, my current amp is 1500rms @ 1ohm. Since I will be running two Icon's, what would be the cheapest route to help keep my voltage up. I know about the Big 3, but i'm assuming my lights will still dim when I have the bass up like it does now and I have my bass at -4 if I remember right. Would a battery do it or would I kill a battery with 1500rms?

I just got one new icon and it is great. What did you have before and what are your thoughts of the Icon compared to your old sub(s)?
-
First off I have been wanting to try out new subs so a couple months ago I started a thread asking which subs you guys would recommend for my application and two 12" Icons seemed to be the most strongly suggested. Right now I'm running a RD Alpha 12" (2000 rms) sub on a Cadence ZRS-8 amp (1500rms @ 1 ohm) in a 2011 Mazda 3 sedan in a box tuned @ 33hz. The sub does get decently loud on bass heavy songs but if it's heavy metal or pretty fast beats, it doesn't hit as hard, but still has a little bump to it. My question is, if I order two 12" Icons, and if I put one of the subs in my current box while I work on building the box to hold 2 subs, will I get the same output or is it possible it will differ at all, the Icon will be in the EXACT same setup as my current RD Alpha, unless output would be the same? The setup would be temporary just until I can get a box built for the two 12's. I know this is a completely different sub, but I also found a fully loaded 12" FI BTL 2500RMS D1 for $300 + Shipping. Would most of you choose the two 12" Icons or the fully loaded 12" BTL? Another question I had, since I will be making my own box, I got a 3d drawing of the box off this site I think it was and for the port they show it as the rectangular shape so it's almost the same height as the box with maybe a 1"-2" width. I was thinking about doing one of the flared ports if it would give me more output?

I built my current box and it was my very first box. I do have plans off SSA's website for the box build for 2 12" Icons so it should be easy to build the box.
