what type of head unit are you using? It should have another set of rca for the rear or subwoofer and just run a set of rca's to the amp for the doors and one set to the 20.1.. If you can only have one set of rca's coming from your head unit than you can use rca splitters. It doesn't matter which way you wire the subs to the amp, whether it be to one output or two. Mono amps are internally bridged so either you can wire the subs to the amp in the final load or you can wire each sub separetely and the amp will create the final load.hth

2 15s sealed or 1 15 ported off 1000/1
t money replied to Trevor Eaton's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
i believe the xmax for the 15 mag is 24mm. -
congrats.I don't really hear any port noise, so i'm good. This thing is definately louder than my e15a was and my 16ov2.The more i listen to it to more i like it.It just sucks cuz this sub is actually going to cost me more money, cuz now i need to do more deadening than what i already have.

one 15" mag in a 2.2cf @30hz box off a crossfire vr1000d.I will be putting her in a 3.7cf@27hz box this weekend, will there be a noticeable difference?.The low end in this box is crazy enough as it is.Just wanted to say thanks Nick and everyone who encouraged the purchase(by reading other threads). Can't wait to get it in the right box and let her shine.
-
that's what i thought, but would there be a difference in sound from say my box 3.7cf@27hz with 25sq inches of port and a box that's 3.7@27hz with 35sq inches of port?
-
but doest hat sound normal, for a bigger volume box to look smaller. My installer said my last box had a lot of port area and thats why its bigger.Just want to make sure everything is correct. My friend builds great boxes but i like to double check everything just to make sure.Sorry for all the questions. This was the box design of my old box but it was 2.2cf not 2.5.http://edesignaudio.com/Products/16Ov2Subwoofer/BoxDesigns/idealvented.gif

i agree, but i actually work until midnight, so some time next week i'll let her rip.
-
you're absolutely right Nick, my new 3.7cf@27hz box xounds crazy. It just amuzes me that this box looks smaller and fit in my trunk easier than my old 2.2@30hz box.None the less this thing sounds incredible, still need some play time with it though before i give a final thought.
-
finally put the mag 15 in my 3.7cf@27hz box and it sounds great, the funny thing is that this box actually looks smaller than my 2.2cf@30hz box.I was told my other box has a lot of port area where as this box has 25sq inches of port. Will let you guys know how it sounds once i really get a chance to listen to it.

I've been too busy to put my mag 15 in my 3.7cf tuned to 27hz box that my friend built.I am picking the box up in 2 days and was wondering, when i asked my friend the size of the box he built and he told me 3.7cf, but when i asked him if it's tuned to 27 hz he said theres 25sq inches of port.Does that sound like it's tuned to 27hz?
-
i'm running my crossfire vr1000d(1000rms at 1 ohm).I am going to stick with the box thats built. It's 3.7cf@27hz with 25sq inches of port and a port length of 21.5 inches.
-
so i've been told to use 21.5-22 inches of port. Now i was told to use stleast 25 sq inches of port and i've also been told to use atlest 40 sq inches. My question is, is the bigger the sq inches better. What would suit the 15 mag best 25,40 or something in between? sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure the box is built properly. thanks again for all the help
-
so how am i to know if the box is tuned correct? should i ask him the length of the port.He tells me most sub companies list the port displacement and apparently SI didn't, so i told him to have atleast 25sq inches of port(what i was told).I really just want to make sure this box is built properly.anymore help is appreciated. He normally buuilds great boxes but when he questioned me about the port i got nervous.

what woul i gain switching to 15"mag from 16o.v2

Well i'll tell ya, i too have a 16ov2 and i also have a mag d2.I had my 16ov2 in a 2.2 cf tuned to 30hz box off a crossfire vr1000d.Right now i have the mag in the 16ov2 box and it gets louder in this box than the 16ov2, now remember the mag is supposed to be in atleast 3.5cf, so it's not even in its proper enclosure. Not a good comparison as far as i'm conserned.Don't get me wrong i too loved my 16ov2 and i also had their old flat cone e15a.The mag seems like it gets louder in the 40-60hz range than both, just can't compare the low end until i get her in my 3.7cf tuned to 27hz box. MAG>16ov2 -
^^ Exactly what Ryan said. If you like it in 2.2 ported you're going to shat yourself when you get it in the appropriate enclosure. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> now, that's what i want to hear.
-
Well i just wanted to listen to it and break it in, so when i get the new box, i can pound it right away if need be.It doesn't sound too bad on a lot of the lower notes.
-
i don't have a camera but i will try. Thanks and i can't wait to put her in her new box.
-
would tuning my box to 30-32 hz give the sub more range.I love the low bass but still want to hit the 40-50 hz range with some punch.Last box i had was tuned to 30hz and i liked it.Will i notice much difference from a 27hz box? any help is appreciated
-
my friend is building a box for me that will be 3.7 cf @ 27hz.My question is how much port do we need? what's the displacement for the port in that box? any help is appreciated
-
it'll be a slot port tuned to 27hz
-
hey guys i'll be ordering my 15 mag shortly and was just wondering how this sub will cmpare to my old 16ov2 and e15a.I am looking for a good sounding sub that will get loud and easily handle my crossfire vr1000d(1000 rms at 12.5 volts).Any help is appreciated.

just wanted to say i got my 15 mag d2 and she's beautiful.Unfortunately i have no camera so i have no pics.My only question is can i run it in my 2.2 cf vented box tuned to 30hz until my 3.7 cf box tuned to 30hz is done? Will the 2.2 box cause any harm to the sub or will i just not get the full potential out of the sub? -
