    Getting some new subs

like mentioned already keep the Mag 15, it'll get louder sealed than two type r 12's sealed, and still be more accurate(punchy). When it comes to sealed boxes subwoofers with more displacement tend to get louder in sealed boxes. To determine a subs displacement you would take the "sd" and multiply it by the "xmax" than multiply by 2. So that would mean the type r 12 displaces 1.75L while the Mag 15 displaces 4.21L, so even with two type r 12's, one Mag 15 displaces more than two type r 12's. So the Mag has the ability to get louder while sounding cleaner in a sealed box. I would recommend around 2.8cf sealed after displacement.

Smallest ported alignment for 15" mag

actually now that i think about it,i was gonna get two 12 mags and port them and i was told i would be louder with the 15's sealed. Search here and on ca.com. I think you need more spl type subs and more power for what it sounds like you're looking for.

Smallest ported alignment for 15" mag

i agree, but he had them sealed and its not loud enough for him. Funny thing is, my two 15's sealed off a zx1500.1 gets loud as fvck. I've heard a solo x off 3000 watts, i've heard two jugg 15's off 3000 watts and i still beleive my chit is loud.I sat in a car that hit 148 off a tl and to the ear it didnt seem much louder than me if any.to each his won i guess

Smallest ported alignment for 15" mag

just so you know, if you do a search you will see the mag and re sx have been compared and the mag was louder. If you want 12's ported i would look to trade your 15's for 12 inch mags.imho

Pic of Mag 15's and system

thanks for the replies. The install is alright, nothing spectacular like some of the ones i see around here. It does sound good though and gets very very loud. I have a friend whos a kicker rep, after he installed my amp and we heard the subs, he couldn't believe how loud it was, for non kicker subs. I can't wait to get these subs in a orted box and let them really shine. Thanks again guys, i nk ow you're being easy on me
  6. Install is temp, just waiting to get a new truck. System is a kicker zx1500.1 pushing the two Mag 15's in a 5.2cf sealed box and a Mtx 2300xw pushing my kicker comps that are in the doors. Deck is a Alpine 9835 and a AC Four.1. Box will be ported when system goes in new box.

    Wow what a scare!

i'd look into the kicker zx1500.1. 24db crossover and efficient. I have one hooked up to two Mag 15's and all i can say is wow. Been told by a very reliable source that you can run them down to 0.7 with a good electrical and expect close to 3000 watts, two strapped at 0.7/1 ohm put out close to 6000 watts. Would not run any hifonics unless its the xx series. hth

going from 1000 rms to 1500 rms

i only crank my system oud to give people a sample. I don't blast my system all day everyday like some guys do. Also since the amp will be running at 1 ohm my gains will also be down

going from 1000 rms to 1500 rms

sorry, i am running a new Mag 15 in a 3.7@27 hz box with 25sq in of port. Will 1500 rms be too much for this box
  11. was going to buy another 15 and have two 15's in a sealed box off 1500 rms, but been told by some guys from team kicker that my zx1500.1 can run at 1 ohm daily all day. So now i may just switch out my crossfire vr1000d for the zx1500.1. With the difference of 500 rms, should i notice an audible difference. I just can't afford the other 15 right now and i know that one 15 ported vs. two 15's sealed should get me the same output.any help is appreciated
  12. i'm changing my current set up. I have one Mag 15 off 1000 rms in a 3.7cf@27hz ported box. I have around 1500 rms at 2 ohms to work with. Which will get louder to the ear, 2 15's sharing 1500 rms in a 5 cf sealed box (2.5 per driver with 2 pounds of polyfill each chamber) or 2 12's sharing 1500 rms 4.6cf@28hz(2.3cf @ 28hz per driver). I really want to get the full potential out of this amp but also wish Ben and SI had these Mags in a dual 4ohm version. Would prefer one sub, but that won't work with the Mag and my amp. This hopefully will be my last upgrade, so which is the better set up. Only reason i'm thinking about another 15 is it'll be cheaper for me since i already have one Mag 15. Thanks for all suggestions, and sorry for a few posts lately. Just want to make the right decision, although i'm sure i'll be happy with either set up.
  13. i agree, but the fact that i know i have a 1500 watt amp, makes me kind of want to put it in. But you know this is an addicting habit.
  14. so i really wouldn't hear a difference between one mag 15 getting 1000 rms in a 3.7cf@27 hz box and two mag 15's getting 750 rms each(1500 rms) in a sealed box thats 5 cf(2.5 per). That's an extra 500 rms. How about two mag 12's in 2.5 cf@28 per driver sh aring 1500 rms. I now have a brand new kicker 1500.1 that i got an amazing deal on and i have a warranty so i would really rather use this amp then my crossfire vr1000d. Any other suggestions? thanks for all help in advanced
  15. right now i have a mag 15 in 3.7@27 hz box off 1000 rms and i'm getting a kicker zx1500.1.I was wondering if 2 15's getting 1500 rms in a sealed box(2.5 per driver) will be a lot louder? noticeably? just thinking about a new set up since i have a kicker zx1500.1 coming. But if i won't notice much difference i may just sell the kicker amp.
