raolito1980 replied to C_LaFlare863's topic in Ascendant Audio
Yeah turn down the amp. Im sure even if you take it to a shop they will do the tuning by ear. The same you can do and not get charged for it. -
RE box calculator tunes too high?
raolito1980 replied to Frostedflakejake's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
It doesnt matter how close the basket is to the side. There is no specific measurment as to where it should be as long as you sub box is made to your liking. I have heard the RE box calculator is off too. So I wouldnt use it but to get a somewhat idea how my box would be. -
Welcome to the site. LOL i know I been a victim of the same mag a couple times.

My Sub Fades In and Out (what is it)?
raolito1980 replied to Typicaljawaiian's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Gain setting doesn't mean power setting. Just because the gain is at half doesn't mean you're only getting half power from the amp. You are likely getting full power from it, and it's possible to be well into clipping with half gain as well. As a matter of fact, the JL 1000/1 uses a regulated output IIRC, which means you are getting 1000 watts no matter what. They don't underrate those by much, 1100 watts maybe. k. I didnt mean to say anything by the half gain. I was Just trying to see where he had his at. I believe its b more then a 100 watts. -
My Sub Fades In and Out (what is it)?
raolito1980 replied to Typicaljawaiian's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I got the same setup as you. I remember you from Youtube. What happen with your amp? Did you ever figure out the problem? Do you have a second battery? You got to be careful with that bassknob. That thing is crazy, especially with our 1000/1. These amps are way underrated. My amp gain is set a little more then half. And thats enough juice for my BL. -
Trouble Setting amp gains
raolito1980 replied to caintrain's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
How about your RCA cables, have you inspected them and made sure they are good? Do you have an aftermarket stereo? Do you have both your RCA cables plugged into the amp? Preferably both of them is needed. That could be the problem. What test tone are you using to set the gains? What are your other settings on the amp set on? What size speaker wire are you using for the sub? -
sexy ass motors.

Trouble Setting amp gains
raolito1980 replied to caintrain's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Check your ground. If you dont have it grounded properly it could be putting strain on the amp to push it. 4 gauge wiring? You double checked how you wired the sub? -
Man I'm not even gonna lie. I did the same fuxxen shxt the other day too. I was so paranoid and skerred that i had surely messed something up! I left my car there took the wifes car and got fuses from Radio Shack. Everything was fine. I thought I had just threw away over 300 dollars on my SAX 100.4. I dont know what the hell I was thinking. I got trigger happy and mixed my wires. Im glad yours are okay too.
