    Wtb subs asap!

    I have a MTX Thunder 6000 12" sub 4 Ohms SVC for $50 shipped.

    12 to 15

Well I have a SI 12" sub thats been in my room all winter waiting to be installed. Well then early spring I decided to change almost my entire system. I now have a Arc Audio 2500XXK to run my sub. This is one sick powerful amp at 1 Ohm which I plan to run that way for 1050+ watts. Anyway, I entertained the idea of putting 2 12" subs in my car, but then realized due to space problems in my trunk, that would not be a good idea. So now I am wondering with that amp, should I go with a single 15" instead? I assume the box would be a little bigger, then the box for the 12" but not nearly as big as what two 12" would take up!

    12 to 15

Oh 3 feet is fine lol The box I just took out of that trunk was 4.7 cu ft. so going down to a 3 cube leave even more room!

    12 to 15

Well I was told a 3' sealed box is best for what I want. its only gonna play 60Hz down, so I wanted it to go deep. We are looking at 37"X16"X12" or 41"X16"X11" depending on where I put my amp rack.

    12 to 15

Yeah this should be fun. I am being told a ported enclosure for this sub and 1050 watts would be too loud for my setup and I should go with a large sealed box instead lol

Well I did it. I have a 15" in the mail to me!

    Enough Power?

I am considering a different amp combination. Would a DLS A7 with 600 watts in 1 ohm, be enough to run a Gen 2 SI 12"? I only have 1 sub, but am considering running 2 A7's and get a second 12" sub. So how would 1 sub with 1000 watts compare to 2 subs with 600 watts each?

    Enough Power?

Yeah due to that, I think I will have to scratch the idea. The box designed takes up about as much space as I am willing to let go of.

    Enough Power?

One other question though. What kind of space will I need for 2? I had a ported box designed for a single 12" and it takes up a good portion of my trunk!! Now someone once said to seal my trunk and not use a box. Does this mean that the trunk is no longer useable? Or that sealing up all the cracks and such with sound deadener would be fine?

    Sub Wiring

Don't laugh too hard, but I bought my 2nd Gen SI D2 12" sub so long ago, I forget how I was going to wire it. What Ohm do I wire this at? I ask because I may move the amp I was originally going to use to my midbass and need to find a new sub amp for this sub.

    Sub Wiring

Huh? So when the amp is wired bridged is it 2 ohm bridged mono or 4 ohm bridged mono?

Install about to start.. need help

Well no you can not go through the armrest, but yes the measures to seal my trunk is not something I reallt would like to do. I do have access into the cab of the car from the trunk through the rear speaker holes. I had to take the rear speakers out, because the sub pressure kept blowing them. Now I like a Front stage only system so well, I do not want to try to put rears back in.
  13. Hi I am about to install my SI sub. Its a Gen 2 SI 12" D2 sub. It will be part of a 4 way system looking like so... BG Neo3 Tweets In the pillars or kicks (not sure yet) Scanspeak 4.5" Revelators In the kicks Peerless Xls8" In the doors (1) Stereo Integrity 12" In the trunk. I have 50 Watts to the Tweets 150 Watts to the Scans 300 Watts to the Peerless 900 Watts to the SI Sub... All US Amp USA Series Power The SI sub will need to blend well with this setup, and will play from 65ish down. I need some ideas for box placement and what kind of box. I am willing to fiberglass so I was considering the side of the trunk behind the wheel well, or off the back of my seat facing the rear of the car. Any thoughts? Next what kind on enclosure. If sealed I can do that easily if you tell me what size. If ported, I will need to know what size box, and what size port. I originally was going to do a sealed enclosure, however I am told the Xls will really pound, and the SI is only playing the 60's down, so maybe a ported box would be better suited to be louder and deeper. Thanks in advance for any help. I kinda really need it :-)

    Any Opinions on Merlin's?

Hi I am very happy with all my Chrome US Amps USA series. However I am changing my system, and now need a better Midbass amp. I am looking at the Us Amps Merlin MD23 but I do not see anything other then specs written about it anywhere! Has anyone used it, and can give me your thoughts? I need a amp that does 300 Watts @ 4 ohm X2 and has a high pass crossover that can cross at 60-65Hz. The MD23 fits that perfectly. Thanks.

    USA-200

Yes the owners manual for that amp says 2ohm bridged stable for 520 watts. And yes Bridged in the Right Positive and Left Negative.

Ha Ha do not fall off your chair... Its going in a 1991 Geo Prizm! lol It was my grandfathers car when he passed, and well, for my life its perfect and cheap to run. So sealed in the rear corner in a fiberglass sealed enclosure is the winner? What size? 1.5 cu ft. or larger? Right now my box is 4.5 cu ft for my old woofer, so I have space if needed.

Ohh I see... But sealing the trunk is not easy right? Right now there are no speakers in the rear deck so there are two large holes, which I could fill, but beyond that what other measures must be taken? Really I think I like the idea of doing an enclosure better. So if the sub goes in the rear corner, should it face the side of the car, or be angled toward the front of the car? My original Idea was to build an amp rack against the back of the back seat, in way so the only way you would see the amps is with the back seat removed. Then build the enclosure off the back of the amp rack, with the sub facing the rear of the car. But I could still do the fake wall and mount the amps the way I wanted and put the sub in the rear corner if that would be better... Now as for ported or sealed, what will the two differences be? Like I say since I have the Peerless 8" drivers up front, the sub will only be responsible for the Very low bass. It will be responsible for 65Hz and down. So I want the sub to be loud, and go as low as possible. I have wondered since my front stage is going to be so loud if a single 12" is going to do the job of keeping up with the front stage lol

Ok since a times two I need some more explanation. I do not understand what you mean by seal the sub and enclosure to the rear deck. Does this mean actually cutting a large hold in the metal and having the sub mounted there so it could be seen from the rear window? If so, no I do not want to destroy my car that way.

    Whooopie for me lol!

I must voice my happieness!! My Amp search is all done and Mmmm it sounds so so good lol! Lets hope. I have 2 of these amps and 2 are still on the way. Here is what I ended up with... US Amps USA-50 for Tweeters US Amps USA-400x For 5.25's Midrange US Amps USA-600x for 8" Midbass US Amps USA-300x For 12" subwoofer I was able to get all the X series amps in Chrome so they will all match. The USA-50 is older and did not come in Chrome, so its purple. I plan to install circuit board up, so it should not be that big of a deal. Sadly this is a very extensive install so It may not be till Spring till I can get it all done lol! It would be cool if I could find some install helpers locally lol Recruiting in Dayton Ohio! lol I wish all luck in their dream system searches
  21. Well SOE killed SWG (Star Wars Galaxy) and I had stopped playing a month or two before due to not having enough time to play. Well I tried to sell my Jedi Account on Ebay, and soon found out they changed the game so anyone could be a Jedi, making my 2 years of work worthless! lol Anyway, long story short, I traded my SWG account with a guy for a WOW (World of Warcraft) account. I am told I am getting a level 60 Priest thats 300 mining and 190 blacksmith and a level 42-45 Troll Warrior. Since I have never played nor seen this game I am wondering if anyone has any input? Does it sound like a decent account? And is the game fun?

    New US Amps on ebay

I bought an amp from him and have talked to him. He states he used to work for US Amps in the past. Seems like a decent guy, just charged me $29 to ship it, then shipped the amp USPS media mail, so it took forever to get here. The amp looked great. I am not sure if its working properly. I am going to try swaping the 400x and the 600x on my mids and highs to see if it sounds right. Its easier to test an amp at higher frequencies. I guess I just expected a lot more out of the 600x then I am getting when hooked up in junction with a 400x on my components.
  23. If you would be interested in a new Computer online Radio check this out... http://www.pandora.com/ Just type in an artist or song you like, and it will play it, along with other similar music. I love it! I have found a few groups I really like I have never heard of before. Whooooaaa The CD collection will grow leaps and bounds now lol!

    US Amp Mods?

Crazy I know lol I may try it sometime just to see if I can hear a difference. I would propbably do it to the 400x since it costs the least to replace lol and plays the all important midrange. He did say he could not do anything to make a change on the USA-50 running my tweets, but the other 3 he said he would mod if they were his amps.
