    2 ssd 12 vs 1 bl 15

I'm a proponent of single sub systems. Without a doubt either setup will drown the highs if they are not amplified. IMO I would run a single sub in a 2.5 ported box. And purchase the front stage amp with the money left over. Moreover, I would look into the sundown SA series.

    Box for a Warden 18

They don't give out the ts specs on that sub. Correct me if I'm wrong but that amp only puts out 3000 on 12 volts.

It sure is quite around here. I hope everyone is ok. I'm going to have to recone the pap for the end of the season. Then it's on to DC for me. I'm already plotting out my Christmas list: MECHMAN alt 1 DC lvl 4xl 15 And for taxes Soundigital 5k

I know where pork is coming from running the pap's. One recone for me and then I think I'm on to DC audio. I've got a good chance in taking 1st place for MECA AS1 for state finals. Under the points standing for the US 144.4 is the highest. I'm at 143.9 currently. There is a comp Sept 11 2x. NEXT plans. 1st. After speaking with DC it seems I can get team level 4xl's. 2nd Around Christmas time new alt. 3rd I'm researching a new amp. Up for the running are: Sundown SA 4500 Sound digital either SD5kd or SD8kd Stetsom 5k2
  8. Sounds like fun. With Alpine staying home for the birth of his baby who will judge the spl portion? And by the way Congratulation on the new one Alpine.
  9. Is this a 1x event? And are we going to have to wait all day for the sq guys to get finished?

Oh and I'm looking for any info I can on a step up transformer so I can run 16 v at 100 amp. Inquires about which one I found can be had via pm. My reasoning is by investing in the transformer I would be almost doubling output prior to doubling amps. If my thinking is screwy let me know. My goal is to get 146 from the 1 15" and then doubling power to end up close to 150 which is my long range projection.

Testing and tuning seems to be what we're all doing. Except in my place it seems like guess work. I wish I had some one around locally knowledgeable. The more I learn the more I realize I need to study. I have 5 more designs to complete searching for 3 more db. They are as follows: changeable port box 4.27 tuned to 47 hz 4.3 tuned to 43 4.4 tuned to 35 4.6 tuned to 33 Aero designs Daily 3 4" aeros tuned to 35 3 4" aeros tuned to 43 Daily 2 6" aeros tuned to 38 While the existing pwk enclosure gained 9 db over the sa 8's it caused the peak to rise anywhere from 56 to 63 hertz. Prior to this my peak was 54. After I finish the exchangeable port one I will do a full car peak again and load it into excel and do some graphs of the loading. Chicago fan is working on getting me some info on doing the best possible job of deadening for the rear hatch I can. If any other team members or close friends shizon would like to share some IAK please don't hold back.

Hope everyone is doin fine it's been pretty quite around here. Chiacagofan what resin did mike use on your back hatch? I'm looking for pointers for deadning the rear right the first time. Thanks

    SAX-200.4 Prototypes In

This one is nuts. I have my gains turned almost all the way down on the 100. It's going to definitely require multiple speakers. Although I could definitely see running the front channel for the front stage and then bridging the rear on a sa8. I forgot is the sax one ohm stable?

  20. This is a good one. Knu fuze holders suck. Get the kicker dual ground block. Audiopipe fuses work fine for me.

Jury is in from the TL testing for the PAP SPL 15” I got from HAWK. Current set up is as follows. 2008 Honda Fit. Big 3 in knuflex. Stock Alt. 80amp. And 2 yellowtops for a total of 93 amp hrs. Voltage dropped to 11 from 14. Stock Head unit ran through an Audio Control LC6i (high to low converter with a 6 volt out). Amps consist of an SAX 100.4 and SAZ 15000 both Sundown. Front stage are Hertz energy 165 comps with HSK tweeters. Rear are Zapco coaxial. I have deadned all 4 doors with 2 layers of fat mat. I still need to do the roof, hatch and floor. Car’s peak is 54hz from previous testing and therefore is what the current enclosure was designed to peak at. Box design is a simple 2 cuft net PWK. This design models with very small rise. Previous score in another enclosure was 134 db(meca) using 3 sundown SA8’s in a 1.8cuft enclosure. This ended up being a poor design. I was having loading problems between the subs and a lot of port restriction. While at the time I wasn’t in the market for a PAP sub I ended up with a sweet deal. So at this point my goal is 146db which is a record in my class AS2 MECA. Testing today yielded 142.9 which places me 3rd in Meca scores for my class; however is still short of the 146 I want! So I gained 8.9 db with the PAP. Cool Pork and Beans. But I’m still short by 3.1db. At this point I am going to build and test 3-4 more boxes but I am unsure of which way to go to gain these sneaky db’s. Not only are they sneaky little buggers I think they have camo on too. Money is tight for a couple of months sometime in September I plan to upgrade the alt to the biggest one I can find which happens to be 180. If you have any suggestions on the new designs please don’t keep them to yourself. I realize I can double the power for the 3 db but I would like to obtain them with efficiency prior to doubling power (long range goal after getting the alt). I suppose I should talk to Porkchop and join the team if I keep at this. I haven't yet because I didn't know how much I time I was going to devote to Comps. I'm in to deep now to turn around.

No it is not. Just don't hit it with more than say 500. I ran 2 off an SAZ 1500 but you have to be careful they get warm.

Inside is 8.5" depth so it ends up raising the floor by 10 inches. This fit in the back of my Honda Fit. With a battery and the amps mounted on top. I have tried 4 boxes in different configurations from a single to a tripple configuration. This design is by far the best I've tried out.
