slim142 replied to edouble101's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Nice pics Finally happened. Let see those 3500 and 5500 now! -
Hi I would like to get an estimate on how much would it cost to make a 300-320 amp alternator for my 2008 BMW 328i sedan.

Get rid of soda completely. Forget candies, chocolates, chips, cookies etc. Go to the gym and try to do cardio every time you go. Lift weights cause that is necessary, proved at least in my experience. Take yogurt, cheese, ham and a bit of bread for breakfast. Chicken breast (or fish), broccoli and carrots for lunch and tuna with onions (if you want) NO MAYO and bread for dinner. In between take apples or any other fruit if you want. I bet in 3-4 weeks you will be really happy and proud of yourself. I weighted 203 pounds in June 2010. Im now on 168. It is hard, going out makes it hard during the weekends, but when you say NO and the next day you wake up knowing you said NO and you didnt, you feel GREAT.

BMW H.O. Alternator advice/help
slim142 replied to audiophile144's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I would actually contact DC first. Thats what I plan on doing for my 328i. I know Mechman made it clear for mercedez benz, any ho alt would come out an arm and a leg. But I have a BMW now so idk if that still applies. -
I wouldnt say a huge hole, personally the 4500Ds were for competitors really. So in reality going from a 3500 - 4500 watt amp wasnt really a plus. Dont get me wrong they were selling but for their target audience they were geared at the demand for more power is needed daily. A 6k or 7k watt would be a hit for any amplifier company these days. Just my .02 Hmmmm Didnt think about that, seems reasonable. True, the audience for 4500D were mostly hardcore competitors so it makes more sense to ditch the 4500 and go for more power since thats what these audience looks for.

I dont get something tho Let say this NS-1 is 6k, and with the 4500D discontinued, there will be a huge hole in between the 3500D and the NS-1. Will something actually fill in between?

Sold old woofer, want a 15! What to get?

LMAO Bro, is not that bad. My Pioneer can be heard on the cabin. I think his 80% lost comment was a bit overrated. I would say maybe 50% of bass is lost (I had my exact same sub, same box, same amp in an expedition, it was def louder there). But I think by the time I put 2 12s, it should be louder than even my single 12 pioneer was on the expedition -
Did you, by any chance, find out which Legatias they were? As you know, they have 5 stages, the higher the stage (level), the better the speaker is. L1, L2, L3... etc Not the way their nomenclature works. The "L" indicates it's part of the Legatia product line. The number following the "L" tells you the diameter of the driver. L1 = 1" tweeter, L3 = 3" midrange, L4 = 4" midrange, so on and so forth. There is no L2 as there's no 2" driver in the Legatia line. They have what they call five "stages", which just means they have five different product lines with each line being progressively better than the previous. The Imagine series is their entry level product (stage 1), Clarus is the mid level line (stage 2), Legatia is their mid-high end line (stage 3), Legatia SE is a little higher end (stage 4), and Legatia Pro is their highest level product (stage 5). The Legatia SE and Pro are designated as such in the model name....L3 is their standard 3" midrange in the Legatia line, L3SE would be a 3" midrange from the Legatia Special Edition line; L1 would be the 1" tweeter from the standard Legatia line, L1Pro would be the 1" tweeter from the Legatia Pro line, etc. Dam, that hangover really kicked hard this morning. This is the second time I have to say sorry about my wrong informed post. Thanks impious!

Hi I have a 2008 BMW 328i Sedan with the standard Hi-Fi stereo system (1" tweets, 4" midranges, 8" midbass) I been looking around E90Post to see what people have been replacing their components with and found that most put Focal, MB Quart, Morel or Earthquake (for the midbass). However, after looking around other places, I saw this brand that calls themselves the best when it comes to SQ? The brand is Hybrid Audio and they have a bunch of trophies from SQ competitions. I want to put the very best as I drive this car a lot and dont want to be worrying about upgrading in the future. This is the "best" they offer = Legatia L841-3 Pro Component Speaker Set Exactly what I need. 8" for the midbass, 4.65" for the doors and 1" for the A-pillar. Now I want to know, does anyone have any experience with Hybrid audio? Anybody experienced their Legatia series? Any opinions in general? My goals are SQ. For subwoofers I will be using 2 XCON 12s for anything below 63Hz. Midbass will prob handle 63-250hz, Midrange 250-2500 and tweeter from 2500 and up.

Sorry about that Still dealing with a hangover from last night -
Did you, by any chance, find out which Legatias they were? As you know, they have 5 stages, the higher the stage (level), the better the speaker is. L1, L2, L3... etc I have never heard Focal. Even thought I heard they are a great company and great products, Im going towards Morel and Hybrid. This has become such a mission. I dont want to mod my car, just remove OEM and put new ones in. But space makes it kinda complicated. Morel for midbass seems like what I will go for. Thats the only thing that has been set. I been looking for Morel midranges and tweeters and they seem like good options too.

I know how you feel. My Pioneer 12" hits hard. But on the BMW, is like is half of what it used to be in my SUV. Since my car audio plans are now on my BMW, I thought that such a nice car deserves nice, quality sound so thats why Im interested in XCONS. Is your goal SQ or SPL?. Im pretty sure the XCON should not be on that list if SQ is what you looking for. Update: If your goal is SQ, then look into XCONS or Fi Q (this is what I tried to say in first place lol). Just my 2 cents -
Hi So I have my BMW 328i 2008 4-door sedan. I want HIDs but I have no clue about this topic. I dont know ANYTHING about HIDs. I know my local shop wants to charge me $220 for 8000k HIDs installed and 3 year warranty. A friend told me they are ripping me off but since I dont know anything about HIDs, Im not sure who is right. Any help please?

Hey jntar You are right about the tweeter. The R2 is a 2" tweeter so it wont fit without heavy mod. Even the L1V2 wont fit so I guess I wont be able to put a Hybrid Audio tweet on my car. Im now looking for other options. I asked Technic whats the OEM mounting size (depth and diameter) for the factory tweeter so I can have an idea what fits in there. I really want strong midbass so thats why I dont mind the mod for the Morel, and thats something that doesnt take much work anyways. But the doors, is something else. So now, I dont know if I should stick to the L4 for my midrange. I kinda dont like the idea of having Morel midbass, HA L4 on midrange, and who knows what for tweeter. For now Im going towards Morel for tweeters. And midrange, Im going to check on Morel. If anything, Ill try to stick to Morel for my midbass, midrange and highs. I know Morel is not one of those brands that you find on most shops, but when you hear them they sound really good. Sucks I wont be able to put Hybrid Audio as they sounded like a really good company with great products.

3.6" on the 8" for depth 91mm too much for my BMW
-
whats the mounting depth on the 8?
-
Hey man Thanks a lot for your answer! Its helping me a lot to decide what to get for my bimmer. First question, where did you get that 58.6mm measure for the L4SE? I look around but I keep seeing the actual depth is 56mm (just 1mm more than the 55 we are allowed). On the website to buy http://store.12velectronics.com/products/Legatia-L4SE-Speaker-Set.html and even on the spec sheet. However, on the same spec sheet, on the drawings (Page 5) of the L4SE, they have their depth as 64mm? http://www.hybrid-audio.com/Legatia%20L4SE.pdf If it is really 64mm, then thats out of question. But if its 56mm, do you think it would be able to fit? or am I risking a tight fit that might damage the speaker? About the midbass, you are right. 91mm of the L8SE is way out of range. I see the Morel listed on E90post is 71mm and thats the one with the highest depth so Im guessing max fit is 71mm? I want to keep my BMW as a SQ vehicle so Im guessing Im most likely gonna go for Morel as I have heard them in person and they sounded great on the midbass area. For the tweets, I think the Legatia L1 Pro R2 Tweeters (Black) are my choice. For the midranges, I just need to figure that out. Whether the L4SE fits or not, if not then the L4 should be good enough. I really appreciate your help! Hope you can answer these questions.

Good to hear some feedback about them! Do you know the nickname of that user? His input would be great!

Computer people: Need some advice.
slim142 replied to Dan208's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
I use NOD32 for virus, trojans and worms. Malware bytes for spyware/adware. Ccleaner for performance and fixes. If I need more work on spyware or adware, I use spybot search and destroy and ad-aware -
I dont understand whats wrong with car audio people from FL Is it that the last ones who posted builds bragged too much about their amp wattage or something? Im from FL. I still run the same Pioneer from a year ago. I never say FL is the loudest state. I never call any other state any name. Im kinda lost, but I see trolls... Should I call troll patrol?

Ported enclosure sealed from trunk to armrest pass through
slim142 replied to hardballer7's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I hate that the cabin has NO ACCESS to my trunk. I still feel the bass, but I hear and feel so much of it trapped in the trunk. I wish I had a pass through or fold down seats
