Ok SDS sounds like its the one Im gonna go with. But just wanted to ask, what happened to Second Skin Audio? Anything wrong with them? And ulrisa! you are actually the reason why I wanted to "fix" my problem. I saw what you did (thanks for the pics) and realized maybe thats the reason why my midbass sounds horrible. And doesnt look hard either! Just wanna ask you, did you do anything to the interior of the door? (inside, behind the speaker) Elisive, the speaker is currently running off the HU 22watts rms, yeah I know they are begging for an amp, but could that also be the reason why the midbass sounds horrible?

Hey Andrew How many cubes in that box?
-
hey puntaz, are you sure you know what you are doing? Why in the world would you start by putting max bass boost, full gain and subsonic at min? Im surprised your subs didnt blow, or maybe they did who knows.

nice bassahaulic! Im expecting some pics of what you plan on doing with 3 sets! Are they replacing what you have in your sig?

Help me choose! IB3, X or DCON? or something else?

Right now is a Ford Expedition, but limited space since I carry construction tools for work. Is the xcon for another vehicle? Im not sure yet if Im going to be replacing the car. (But will definitely be something with a big trunk, like an equinox) Should still be able to fit an 18" XCON (1ohm DVC) if I do change cars, and while I upgrade the electricals of the car, I can run it at 2ohms (1000rms), and when electricals are done, wire it down to 1ohm and get the full potential (would need a 2nd XCON, but thats ok since my goal is to end up with 2 18"s anyways). -

I think thats easier said than done I could get one driver, but I have never heard an FI, AA, Sundown or SSA so idk how much of an improvemente we are talking here over my current pioneer. Im expecting a good improvement, but idk if worth the $200+ Thats why I thought about 2 drivers, even if its 2 12"s (whether fi, aa, sundown or ssa) that would definitely hit hard and be much louder than my single pioneer. Cant really afford to do small upgrades every certain times. Just want to get something good now, so I can start the race for the big 18"s monsters. But after all, it all goes down to the options I have now. My friend is even thinking about buying the pioneer with enclosure from me for $180 so if that happens, I would end up spending $140 for 2 Fi X's 15"s I want to hear more opinions. The more options I see on the table the better. -

The XCON I want is 18" So that means 0 gauge, Big 3 and most likely extra battery. My plan is simple, do a quick upgrade now, that is louder than my pioneer so I can feel the bass and enjoy my trips when I drive around. While I enjoy those 12s or 15 or w/e I get, save up to get the electricals done (big 3, 0 gauge, main battery), then sell what I got now and put that money together to then upgrade to the 18" monsters. -

In some way you are right, I might be rushing. But the problem is that this Pioneer just cannot make it anymore! From what Ive read, 4gauge is fine up to 1200-1500rms (at the end, depends on the distance too). It is close to battery as the 2000D is underneath the passenger sit, 10ft is pretty much the distance to the battery so thats fine. Unfortunately, I cant take advantage of the 2000rms since that would mean replacing to 0 gauge and most likely doing the Big 3. Noway I can afford a new battery now. My current voltage is 13.6 at idle, 13.7-14.1 while driving. So its not bad IMO. I do plan on using this amp to its full power, but maybe in the future. If anything, I think I should prob replace my 4 gauge with 0 gauge. But that still leaves me with my hungriness for bass -
Hi! How ironic! I was reading about you guys (SKAR Audio) a few days ago. If I could only get a demo of 2 12"s, I would have prob already made an order!

It's CCA, that's self explanatory. The cost difference is too small to matter, if copper and CCA are similarly priced I'd ALWAYS buy copper. So weldingsupplies wires are a NO-NO? I was thinking about doing the Big 3 with 2/0 from weldingsupplies since knukoncepts do not have 2/0 So I guess I should stick to 1/0 from knukoncepts?

Hey guys So I went to check the subwoofers yesterday Didnt have time to test them out but I did get to check 1 sub and its 2 coils. Im not sure if they were connected in paraller or series, but the 2 coils that I measured got a reading of 2.4 each on the DMM I measured them with the speaker cables still connected to the terminals on the subs (I think they were connected in series). Does this sound good? I mean, if they were wired in series, and I measured a coil with all speaker cables connected, Im suppose to get 2ohms and thats what the DMM looks like it was getting. Does 2.4ohm sound right?

So, a friend of mine who I havent seen in some time recently told me that he is in an urgent need of cash so he is selling all his car stuff. I didnt see anything interesting. Then he told me about his subs. He has 2 12inch MMATS Dreadnauts in a custom made, ported box. Each sub retails for $500 (woofersetc.com) + the enclosure which he says cost him an extra $350. He told me (a week ago) he would give them to me for $600, I said no. Then recently, we talked about again. He ended up lowering the price down to $300. Now, when we reached that price I said to myself "let me ask in the forums to see if its a good idea". To me, Im guessing it would be an upgrade no matter what since I only have one 12 anyways, but if Im going to spend $300, I want to make sure this is going to be a GOOD UPGRADE. Something that is much louder than what I have now. When I compared the price he gave me with the price they sell for on the internet, I was surprised to see he would go this low. $500 per sub + $350 for enclosure, its like $1350. Even if he is been sarcastic and it all came out $1000 to him, he is still way below a decent selling price isnt him?. I know he is in need of money, but when we reached $300, I paused for a second since I didnt want to get too excited before asking here. I told him I will be going to his house tomorrow afternoon to check them out (to check cosmetics), use my DMM to make sure both coils of each sub reads 2ohms (so they are not blown) and to hear them to see if they impress me. Now, I want to ask people here. What are your thoughts on MMATS? And about the DREADNAUTS? and Am I getting a good deal here?
-
OMG! Sorry for not mentioning Sundown! Fixed my post now! (dont know how I forgot them) And yes, I would be really interested to hear your subs! Would you mind giving me a demo? Also, do you think you can give me more info about the shows? I dont care driving 90mins, as Ive never been in one!!! Keep this thread updated! I would love to hear those 4 SSAs!!!!!
-
Keep this thread up! made me crack up for a good 30 mins hahahaha
-
From what I remember from the other thread, the N3 is SPL and N-SG is Extreme SPL. But like you, I want official response from Nick or Scott to make sure my info is correct.

So this is the BTL I should go for if I want a BTL for daily pounding, and all types of music right? Btw, it looks sexy, weird but SEXY!
-
Schedule today wont let me have time to go check the subs out, but will definitely do it tomorrow! I will let you know how it goes guys! Thanks for the comments

Well in terms of what Im getting for my money, when it comes to features, quatity and price ratio, its a good deal. Now, the decisive moment will come today or tomorrow when I check the cosmetics, the coils and most important, when I hear them. Just want to know a bit more about this MMATS brand, so far I see positive reviews everywhere. Some people even claim hitting 146dbs with lower featured subs (the Pro-Mats series) from MMATS. So Im REALLY interested on testing them. If I can double the bass (or more) than what I have right now, I think I will be going for them. I dont think I will be able to find 1150rms subwoofers (two of them) for $300 WITH enclosure. But we will see Any other comment about MMATS, their dreadnauts series or the deal Im getting here will be welcomed.

What is a solid headunit these days?
slim142 replied to NDMstang65's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The 9887 doesn't need imprint, it can run active by itself, normally you need a bit more processing but it works. Well, sorry my fault for not clarifying that I meant that it needs imprint for some of its features to be unlocked. I wasnt willing to spend money on the imprint, even when crutchfield give you the option to set it up then return it for a $50 fee. 800PRS comes with all 9887 features and does not need anything extra to get them unlocked -
I see Thanks guys, this clarified a lot of things!

So according to 12volt subwoofer wiring diagram I can wire two 2ohm DVC subwoofers to either 0.5 ohm OR 2ohm I can also wire only ONE of those subwoofers to 1ohm My question is, if I want to stick to 1ohm using those two 2ohm DVC subwoofers Can I just wire EACH sub to 1ohm, then run them to the amp each SEPARATELY from each other so that I keep 1ohm resistance? I have a Sundown 2000D

So let me get this right N1 - SQ oriented N2 - Daily pounder (what the BTL series have been about for the last year?) N3 - SPL N-SG - Xtreme SPL Am I right?
