I'm waiting on my order from SDS and a couple other little things to tie everything in before i can install them. HOPE it can be done this weekend. *crosses fingers* Dont rush Will keep an eye on this thread

Yes please, make a video from 60hz-200Hz Im planning on using two pairs or maybe three as mids AND midbass. I dropped plans to use an 8" driver on each front door when I found out this could go as low as 50Hz (Nick has them at 50Hz). He also mentioned carbons can actually go up to 5000Hz, but Im pretty sure most people should find 2500-3000hz the sweet spot.

I didnt even notice this was a 2007 thread LMAO I thought Jacob was gonna bring back the 3000D HAHAHAHAHAHA

Hey Mark Can we get an inventory update? I want to know if there is anything I might want. Also have a friend who might be interesting, but dont want to make plans without knowing whats available first.
-
I would like somebody to explain to me how Mark gets 143dbs with 1 12" XCON on a khaotik enclosure and the guy from the tahoe only reaches ~156dbs with 4 18s? I mean, I know after certain point, each db requires more than just another amplifier or an extra battery, but I cant understand why the difference is so close. Either the XCON is THAT good or there is something going on with the smd subs Is it that the 18s are in a box that is not spacious enough? or is it that the box needs a redesign? I believe I remember st3ve saying each of the smd subs had 4.65 cubic feet, I think that sounds kinda tight.

First impressions MMATS did a very good job on advertising themselves around mid and north florida. At least 3 guys seemed to be using MMATS subwoofers/amps. The most impressive cars in the contest were a pick up with 2 18" juggernauts and like 4 coaxials + the ones on the doors. Then another truck (which I felt like it hitted harder than the 2 18"s) had 3 15" juggernauts. THAT SH!T WAS LOUD SON!!! I never heard something like that before in my life. I just couldnt believe how loud it was. Im pretty sure if I was driving around that truck, I would probably have the bass knob half way up hahahaha

well guys Ive got some amazing news!!! Im going to my very first db drag/ IASCA show! Gonna be driving 60-90 mins just to hear the loudest cars in FL!!! Hope to see people with Fi, AA, Sundown and SSA gear! I guess one of my dreams to hear 150+dbs is going to become true!
-
Definitely will check it out deeper. Last time I was there I didnt see much activity which made me leave the forum. 2 hours is nothing. ive driven 8+ hours to go to worthy shows. the bass is out there. you have to go find it. I wish I had your free time PM'ed which one? Theres two hoes? The one that has a youtube channel ending with 916. Thats who Im referring to when I say "the guy from the tahoe" That description makes me go look for someone who can hit 150dbs right now Im pretty sure mr. meade knows what he is doing? And yeah, I read about Dante's 180db world record. But at the same time I think I read that because of the concrete inside, his car is not mobile anymore? I rather have a 156db that I can actually drive

Thanks! good to know

Regarding the crossover jay-cee What do you mean is a downfall? Also, I wanted to ask, I only see low pass filter in the crossover knobs. So, if I set the switch to HPF, does that low pass filter knob become a high pass one?
-
I was referring to power/ground wires. Speaker cable will most likely be 12 gauge. Also, I forgot to mention, when I installed my speakers, I had to remove the rubber from the magnet (comes off easily tho). Could that be causing any negative impact on the speaker performance? Had to remove it cause it would not fit all the way in with it.

How many left?

Yeah I realized below 8 gauge might be pushing it a little too much You are right, and after checking prices I also realized that the Stetson was not worth the $60 they are asking for. Much more bang for the buck offered in from other brands. I will consider the Boss Audio. I noticed that it said SDS Don below his profile name which showed me that the guy behind the company was actually Don, and on top of that, he took his time to help me and explain me the problem was under powering when he could have easily keep on making me believe 90% of the problem comes from the doors to make a sale. Definitely shows the type of person he is and that I will be doing business with him when the time comes.

I mean, the "best" I have seen is my friend who had 2 15"s Kickers (Yep, you guessed it right) L7s, he had a really nice setup BUT his amp was one of those random-ass brand ones and he wasnt getting the best out of those subs. He hit hard, but I wasnt surprised. When I realized about the amp then I knew why. Then one time I was in Tampa and I saw this blue impala that seemed to have 2 15"s. That shit was LOUD, I heard it blocks away clear and loud, when it passed by where I was, I was impressed by the bass coming out of that car. Kinda wished he could have given me a demo lol So yeah, I do not know what 150dbs feel like, or even 140dbs. But trust me, IM DYING TO HEAR A SYSTEM THAT LOUD! (thanks to this forum and the people here hahahahha) About the shows, there are some, but sucks I have to drive pretty much 2 hours north. Im between south beach and broward and trust me, I have not seen or heard about any shows here in the Miami-Dade area. Everything is up there (Palm beach, west palm, tampa, orlando) and thats a 2 hour drive for me (4 to orlando).
-
I see I guess what I need is somebody to give me a demo of 140 and then 155db to clearly experience the difference myself. Sucks to know in south FL, its been nearly impossible to find somebody with that amount of bass.
-
Now I understand But that leads me to ask, so why did he bother with 4 18s when he could have used all that space for maybe 2 12s, a nicely designed box and much more amp power? Was it a personal choice or did it have to do with SQ over SPL?
-
I could prob even do 10 gauge to save some money LOL I think you can tell Im in saving mode thats why I cant spend much right now Its almost double the price of what I posted. Thats why I didnt consider it.
-
Hi! How ironic! I was reading about you guys (SKAR Audio) a few days ago. If I could only get a demo of 2 12"s, I would have prob already made an order! Most preorder shipments , etc will be arriving this week to customers and video's will start going viral . As far as a live demo, I am sure we can work something out. How far are you from Tampa/Orlando? Each distance separate. I would love to give you a demo of my daily with the 4 VVX-12's on a SAZ-2500D. 4 hours away from Tampa and Orlando (from what I remember takes me the same time to get to both places, taking different highways of course) So no demo possible unless somebody down here decides to get one and then I could hear it

If you need something cheap try looking for some used amps. 30 watts is a little better, but I'm sure if you look around you could get a pretty decent amp for <$100. I like this one http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17518_Power+Acoustik+OVN2-600.html But never had experience with Power Acoustik, I think they are overrated right? My components are 80rms and I would still run them with the crossover just to be safe. And for this, 8 gauge should be MORE than enough right?
-
Dam! Just what I wanted to avoid! Spend money on an amp for the components grrrr! Well, I guess I'll have to look into a really cheap amp or just keep the volume knob down Is this a good option? Seems like my best bet http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/Stetsom-TH2030-30w-x-2ch.html 30watts lol, does that even need 8gauge? how would I install that thing? lol
-
I wish! lol No, three different people have them around here now. I see Looks like I misunderstood! So three different people in your area got those, thats what you meant (I thought you meant YOU got the 3 pairs lol) Did you get any at all? Nope, I got none. lol Thought about getting the GF some for her SQ car, but decided something else. for you right :partybanana:

Nope They're passive HU->crossover->mids/highs I personally think it plays a big role in why the midbass is distorting. I'm not claiming to be an expert on the subject but from what I understand... if the HU delivers an actual 22watts RMS (never researched what HU actual RMS is) then the passive crossovers will distribute power accordingly, say 17w to mids, 5w to tweets (just an example). Not to mention the debate which claims passive crossovers rob almost half the wattage (read directly from HAT site). Not to sure how efficient those mids are but seems as if they are severely lacking headroom. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE advocate of sound deadening and I recommend it HIGHLY, but I think your biggest issue is power. A suggestion would be powering the comps active. Take advantage of that awesome 800prs. Then you will be delivering 22w to the mids and 22w to the tweets. It may be enough of an improvement to skip buying an amp and go straight to the deadener. You know, I also thought about that. These can handle 80watts RMS and they are not even getting half. It kinda pisses me my factory 6x8 seemed to have better midbass. Oh well... will see if fixing the doors help enough to make me hold spending more money right now. The mid/highs amp will come later tho
