Zcon No Longer A ProtoType!!!!!!!!!
slim142 replied to Infinite913's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I want to ask If my purpose is, to have huge output, but keep it SQ. Should I bother with the ZCON or stick with XCON? I plan on putting 2 on my BMW, but since its a luxury car and the one I take everywhere, I dont want to make it an SPL or burp machine. I want to be able to get in the car and give pleasure to my ears. Not really interested in competition or big numbers, but want to be able to put some Weezy/Jeezy and blast my windows/trunk/mirrors. -

Wow! Great news!

Im actually surprised there are still 2-3 665s around. I have one. Not using it anymore since I took apart that system, but something tells me is not worth re-selling it as it might come in handy

If its there to prevent rattle, its somewhat failing. My Pioneer shakes the whole trunk sometimes (depending on the song). Some frequencies even make my gas cap shake in and out lol

Hey guys Been pretty busy lately, but here are the pics to explain better my situation. This is the metal/aluminum? plate that seems to sit between the rear row and the trunk. I dont know if it can be taken out. Now on the following pic, you can see this foam that I have no idea what the purpose is for (keep noises from trunk away from cabin?). I dont know if its a duct to the rear sits. This hole is on the top middle part of the trunk. Inside this hole is this foam which seems to be removable but dont know if I should remove it or not. (Pic taken with camera facing up) Let me know what you guys think!

where do you buy your wiring from?

Stinger and Rockford Fosgate would be great on that list too. They are very popular. -
I always heard the guy from the tahoe say EFF EYE on his videos. Hmmmm

2x18" AA SMD vs 4pcs 15" fi BTL ufo
slim142 replied to superfishbone's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Great choice But like mentioned before, depending on the installation the 15s might have been louder due to cone area. Anyways, post pics when everything is installed. This certainly looks interesting. -
Now, make a sale on the SSA subs hahaha

I been playing around with the sub position, gain, bass boost on the headunit and not much luck. I mean, I have definitely increased the bass, but the gain has been minimal. I have set my gains with +5 bass on the headunit so I can have the 6.5"s help with the bass. I have also moved the sub so that it aims the backseat and not the trunk anymore. When the trunk is open, the bass is really loud, as soon as its closed, its like it gets cut in half. No M5, I dont think my car has the fold down option. Is there any lever or switch that would let me figure that out? Cause so far, I tried pushing it and looking around but no look. Crazy, I went to the backseat and saw the arm rest metal sheet (when arm rest is opened). Its a 1-piece metal sheet that has the arm rest plugged at the bottom. Im affraid of force-pushing it out and braking it. Any tips in here? I also went to the trunk and on the top, there is a hole, inside that hole there is a foam which seems to be the one you talk about? Im not sure if this is connected to the cabin at all. Didnt want to take it out before asking. I think Im gonna take pictures and better illustrate my situation and the car.

Ok so this is what I get from the Sylvania site So I guess my kit is H7 And yeah, looks like most of you recommend 5k so Im thinking thats what I will go for. Now the question is, can any of you point me to the stuff I need to get so I can order everything and go to my local shop so they can install it? I honestly dont know what accessories, parts, extras I need in order to have everything ready just to pay for the installation. All the help provided is greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot guys! -
Ill check my middle arm rest thing tomorrow and that foam that you talking about so if I need any help, ill come back here and ask you I really want to bring the bass to the front! its annoying to have a sub playing bass and barely heat it lol Yes I have a bass remote. I have my bass at 0 (default) on the radio and the bass knob on the amp is currently at 11 o'clock. The bass remote is turned 3 clicks, more than that and it gets into distortion. I doubt there is another amp for the bass. In my trunk, the left side has the amp and the right side has the battery. I dont know where could BMW possibly have put another amp. I know my car doesnt have factory subs, I believe there are 6.5" drivers under the front sits, but they dont go that low.

Yes single 12 ported So the interesting part here is the bass trapped in the trunk. Will check what can be done to somehow let it travel to the cabin. I hope I dont have to mess too much with the car integrity. Btw this is a 2008 BMW 328i sedan

Hi Just want to know a few things that remain unclear to me. Since I do not plan on running 18s anymore, will only run 2 12s (XCON, ZCONS or maybe BTLs) with probably a Sundown 3500D. Should I bother using 2/0 gauge for power and ground? I was about to purchase Kolossus Fleks 0 ($100) kit but just want to make sure I wont be in the "border line" when it comes to powering my amp. Also, will the Kolossus Fleks 0 handle a Sundown 4500D? Just in case if I decide to upgrade to that in the future. Im reading here http://www.bcae1.com/fuses.htm that 0 gauge only handles a fuse up to 325 amps. That means with a voltage of 12.6 you get 4095 watts. Thats 500 watts short of the 4500D (without including the underrating of the 4500D which can easily go up to 5000 watts). So without much confusion. My plan is to use my 2000D with my Pioneer 12inch FOR NOW. I want to put power and ground wires ASAP in my BMW 328i cause I cant be driving without my bass anymore. Dont know if I should go with Kolossus Fleks 0 or Welding Supply 2/0 unless the 2/0 is REALLY worth it. And yeah, want to know if the Kolossus Fleks 0 will be future proof for a 3500D or 4500D in the future to power 2 XCONs, ZCONs, or BTLS. Thanks!

Fuse, Gauge size, etc
slim142 replied to slim142's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Im done soldering the wires. The ground wire came out 9/10, the power wire 7/10 I think I did fine for a first timer. Going to use sand paper on the few black parts then put the heatshrink. Lets hope everything works out as planned on wednesday Oh and thanks jenstrand, I also thought that could be the most easy solution. But looks like I wont need to do anything (at least, from the looks of this lol). -

I bought their regular ANL fuse holder and a 300amp fuse. Will have this installed by wednesday afternoon when I get my BMW back from service. I have used their 8 gauge kit before and have no complains. -

Problem is ordering ONE terminal from Knu will cost me ~$6 with shipping. And I dont have a tool to cut 0 gauge wire either lol But yes, Im making sure to do my BEST to make this project perfect. Right now Im following this video for my terminals. I must say the reason why the first one came out a bit burned is because the first one is always the trial I guess. But you learn from your mistakes. Is nothing serious tho but now i know. -

Hey guys So today while I cut one of the tips of the blue wire, I was soldering the terminal to the wire and a few parts of the terminal are now black (burned). Only happened to one of the ends of the blue wire. Both ground ends are fine. Will there be any problem if I use a terminal with a few burned marks? -
