It doesn't really but I like the amp I've chosen and more powerful subs tend to be taller (too tall to fit in the box under the seat) and usually require more airspace than I have available. So just keep the gains on the amp turned down. You don't have to have everything maxed.

Radio pop?
Don Ganso replied to flipzslick's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If all else fails, you can check out Navone Engineering pop eliminators. David Navone is a real nice guy and answered every question I had after I got my pop eliminator. Just make sure you hook it up right, I had that problem a few times. -
Also, 4k requires a pretty solid electrical system.

Beastly with the BTL in the Geo! One woofer builds are cool too, but I do like the idea of seeing it with another 18... Hey, what about 2 more? Think you could squeeze it in there? lol Good luck, I will be watching this closely!

I know that there is a competition section in the forum, but I figured I might get more views in here... Mods, if you want to move this I totally understand. I have been on the USACI midwest site a bunch, and tried to google "WI spl competition" and such, but have had no such luck finding future competitions that I might attend and learn at. I am looking to try my hand at competition in the future, and what better way than to go and check 'em out? Problem is, the only thing I can find is scheduled events for last year and results from other past competitions. Can anyone help me out with a link or something? I promise I am not being lazy, I just cannot find anything. Perhaps I am using the wrong search words, but if I am, then I guess I don't know what the right ones are lol! Thanks

The name of your infinitely baffled ride makes me infinitely hungry.... Lookin' good... And tasty...

It's your sig broha. I'm pretty sure you can add the results of any competition you've been in. I think I might add the pie-eating contest results from my county fair last summer... I beasted it up. Good luck with your build.

Box Design for 8" L5 Ported. Please Help!

Put in your max dimensions and see what that gets you, then go from there. -
How come all the burp boxes I see have aeros on the outside, never slot ports or internal aeros? Is it just for ease of port length adjustments or something else? Good luck with future testing!

This build scares me. A lot. But that's a good thing!

Impedence rise thread in Sundown Technical saved me! I cannot count on impedence rise because I will be using the same set up for daily, in which case I may even see impedence drop! Saved my butt a load of stress! 1.33 it is then!

Why "daily" systems should not count on impedance rise
Don Ganso replied to sundownz's topic in Sundown Audio
This might have just saved me a lot of stress. Excellent info! -
The craigslist deal looks sweet, but if it doesn't look like it is going anywhere fast, then build a box for your 1 18 for now and see how you like it. The BTL's are beasts, and you may find that one is enough! Who knows? That way, if you are satisfied with what you have, you say almost $400 bucks! Then you could go ahead and buy that 3500d for just the one BTL! Who knows? Good luck with the install either way!

Can't. 0-600 watts rms at 4 ohms, (which the amp fits in), but then I have to include the HU's power as well because it runs the el-cheapo pioneers I have in the doors. ^^^^^^^ 600 is the 4 ohm power of the 2500, right? Either way, comp gurus, please throw in some input as well. Thanks for the clarification Jay-cee. I am new to competing, but hey, I want to win! We all do, but I guess if there is things like this that I can do that could help a bit, I'll do it. From what I have heard on this thread, .67 is safe for the amps, but I also understand it is not covered by the warranty. I guess I would be willing to take my chances with that as I will have a solid electrical system before I have a more powerful amp, but if there are major problems that are not only possible but likely, I would definitely want to know. You know you are on a great forum when everyone wants what is best for your equipment!
-
Yeah, I will be looking for a used one. Jay-cee, I see your point and value your input. Can you clarify what you mean by getting more power for the amp to be run at where it should be?
-
Gosh... Great arguments for both sides of the issue... The only reason I couldn't go with a larger amp is because I have to stay under 600 watts RMS at 4 ohms and they count the HU's power if it is running any speakers... 2000d biggest I can go
-
Electrical first, new amp second of course! I haven't pulled the trigger yet, so anyone feel free to add info to this thread!

fi q vs sundown z15 or ? Port type suggestions also...
Don Ganso replied to nefariouscaine's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
In your first post you talked about how the sub would be seeing high volumes, which usually sends up a red flag for the SQ people... I guess someone like M5 would have to step in and clarify, but as far as I understand, SQ and high volume do not go hand in hand. I think that the afore mentioned BL would be a good choice and the SSD would be fine if you want to save some money.
