So, a friend of mine is looking for some good bass in his car. He has tried many things, and I don't think he is looking in the right place. He currently has 2 12 Kenwood KFCs in a sealed box, but has also had pioneer 10s, (the gray ones from wal-mart), and visonik 10s and 12s. The problem with the Kenwoods is that they don't hit the lows he is looking for. I was hoping to help him sell the Kenwoods and was thinking of steering him towards the DCONS, (budgeted install... budget is probably what he can get for the kenwoods and 1 10inch pioneer and his amp, a sony 220 gtx). I think that he wants to be plenty loud, but still sound good on a low budget. The vehicle is a Dodge Neon He is in the process of doing the big 3 with 1/0 AWG Maybe looking into the 2 10s or 2 12s and Sundown 125.2 in the store on here... Suggestions?

Oh, and do the two negative wires ever become one and same question for the positives?
-
Did the original speakers have terminals for all the wires?

Can't even see her tail she is so full of power!!!

Here, in grandma and grandpa's, (box would not be possible without gpa's tools and woodworking knowledge/expertise), basement, we have something that is starting to look like a box... Wow... ummm... So I've never had a 15 before... Seems like it might be kinda scary for those not expecting this much bump in a wee little wagon... I'm excited to drop this baby in! The cutout ID is 14 1/8" My hand looks so little... But I can play a 10th on a piano.... Now I'm sure you are all wondering what kind of amp I've got... Here's what I'm powering this baby with: A High Output Dog-Lifier!!! That's my practice marimba at left...

It worked!!! Goll'dang I'm happy when I figure out computers!!! Here are more: This is the "top of the top" cut and completed: This is the "bottom of the top" cut and routed and soon to be painted: Here are the jumper cables I'm going to use for speaker wire: The box without top assembled and painted. Assembly shots were lost to stupidity, (mine). Yeah, no 45s, but no one's perfect... "Bottom of top" painted: Both together:

If this didn't work...

More pictures up of dog-lifier, box in various states of completion, (inside painted, but without second layer of top added), and jumper-cable/soon to be speaker wires. Comments appreciated More pics coming soon and sub coming Thursday!!!

Any possibility of finding something as nice as the DCONS or with the DCONS and a different amp for less $$$? It's not like money is the only issue, otherwise there'd be no system in the first place, but do you know of anything else? If not, then it just means a longer wait, but that is fine; better than getting something of low quality, (not ssa).

And don't worry: that's not all of them. I'll have new pics up soon as I can.

Painted the box and sanded all the edges yesterday and with some textured paint in gray, this thing looks like it's made out of stone. I have a few pictures of the beginning off the project on photobucket. Photobucket album thing

I'm taking the amp too! lol Yeah dude, that padding must be like temperpedic amp bedness.
-
Yeah that's a no go. First I tried the mass upload: NO WAY. Next I tried ONE PICTURE and still no good. I got the dial-up blues man, that's all we get out by us, so I'm trying to email a picture at a time to photobucket, and we'll see how it goes. Otherwise to my friend joe's house, (HE'S got a satelite, but NO, those cost money, and we ain't spendin' none of that now, what with the economy and all and yadda yadda yadda, cause mom and dad just got 2 new GPS's... ) Can't really talk crap though, it is their money, as all mine went to my BL! Oh well. Keep your eyes peeled for some photobucket links in the near future, (I hope)...
-
Dude, I really like your amp rack... Good thing I'm way north of you or I'd probably be breaking into your trunk now...
-
Dang! That sub's got a helluva booty!!! Keep pluggin' away at that install man!
-
The 4 10s have more surface area than the 2 12s, but the BLs are more sensitive than the qs. Is 3.5 all you can fit? Don't try and cram more subs into a small space because one sub in a properly sized and tuned enclosure will sound twice as good, (and can even be louder) than two subs of the same size in an inadequate enclosure/and or enclosures.
-
Just to clarify, he means 12-16" square port opening area. If money's tight, the the SSD is all-right. Just said that to ryhme... The SSD is a great sub, and will take care of you just fine.
-
So yeah, test tones; use 'em and report back soldier.
-
Totally agree with ///M5. Also, what are your amp settings? Oh wait, kicker's have that pre-set subsonic filter, don't they...
-
Ya, or do you just want textured spray paint?
-
Looks good! When do you start on the box? Lemme see some more pictures of the thump-maker!
-
Yeah I want to see the ass of that beast! You would... I do too! Hell-Razor, did you ever find anyone else to help you?
-
Are you going to have them externally for more internal volume?
-
My arsehole computer failed trying to upload these pics so I'm gonna try photobucket....

Thank you. I need to reset the gain on my amp anyway, as I did it horribly wrong to begin with. Thanks for the info.
