Yeah, some dudes at school were telling me they saw Fi subs at wally world and that they are a freakin' Chinese company! Ridiculous!
-
I couldn't find anything... I guess they don't have it... There is a guy on here, brandondaily or something, (his display pic is his ford focus hatchback), he has this sub. I believe that his box is 4.9ft^3 after displacements, but I'm not sure where he got those specs.

doesn't sundown have the enclosure volume on their site? If you want to tune low, go for 33Hz or lower.
-
Wait, the X series are 300 watts rms? Wow, I didn't know that... Either way, great job, especially considering that you threw it together pretty quick. Love the box design!

Major thanks to Fi, BILTD & Especially Scott Atwell

Yeah, I like the chrome I got on my BL! Fi: -
So, I just but in the new BL, (see sig for more info), and I am very displeased with the amp I'm powering it with, so I think it's time for a new one. Current amp is putting out 600 at 1 ohm, (so it claims, not so sure it is), and I am looking to change that; on a $300ish or less budget I was thinking an audioque 1200d or an SAZ-1000d, (the pre-order for the sundown 1200 will be long over by the time I have the money for a new amp, so it is probably out of my price range). Are there other good choices out there? This is going to be a budget-concious set-up so if there are two solid amps putting out decent power, then I'd go for the cheaper one, unless of course it is obvious the pricier one is of extremely high quality, (there are always exceptions)... Let me know if I have yet again forgotten to give out some important information... Don't worry, finishing the Big 3 soon and looking at new battery/alternator before new amp. Thanks

i am not truly sure.... i believe at first he was wanting a small upgrade, then told me to see how far 400 to 500 dollars would get him, then .......nothing! have not heard back from him yet. would like to have 1200 to 1500 watts at 2 ohm stable.... should be easy enough to accomplish, if he goes this route. he has a 15" Kicker L7 also, so sometimes it is on his mind to use it instead. stay tuned, lol. chop * any suggestion or good deals , let me know fellas???* *any one with something for sale that fits the bill? i will let him know whats up.* If its 400 to 500 dollars then why not SAZ-1500D? Isn't that what you run?

Mr ***** ***** himself. I didn't know his name was a curse word... cover your ears kids! lol Save money and get 10 or 12. You can pick up jumper cables at Menards and Fleet Farm, (don't know what stores are near you put that's what I got), for plenty cheap and use them for speaker wire; they usually have straight copper in them.

Crazy Inclosure Idea. Need Pro. suggestions
Don Ganso replied to ShagggDiesel's topic in Fi Technical
Well I suppose that if you don't need a back seat at all you can build an enclosure that takes up everything in the back of your car right up to your front seats. Otherwise run two smaller subs. You can still get plenty of output with less enclosure space. -

Unless your trunk is completely sealed like a box would be, (besides the port) and made of MDF, I don't think it would work. Such enclosures are called infinite baffle enclosures. Fi makes the IB3, which is built for such applications. -
your port should have an opening 12-16in square per cubic foot your box is. the length can be found with this equation: ((8466.4 x R^2)/(Bv x Tf^2))-(1.463 x R) R=radius of port, (if you are doing a slot port, divide the square area by pi and then take the square root of that number) Bv= box volume, (in cubic feet) Tf= tuning frequency, (what you are trying to tune to, something like 28-38Hz for daily driving) This equation gives you the length of the port in inches, so see whatcha get.

yes, I was considering audioque, but if they are rated at 14.4 and the sundowns at 12.5, then I think that the SAZ-1000D would be close to the AQ1200D... Maybe someone has done some kind of comparison? unlikely, unfortunately...
-
I don't need 3k... However, I know that they make a 1200, or is it 1800? Are these dependable amps? Compare them to Sundown. Thanks
-
What's the new amp going to be?
-
Then maybe the SAE-1200D could be what i want... Guess I'm going to just see what kind of deals pop up for what amps. Right now there still is that used SAZ-1000D in the classifieds, but if that disappears then I'll have to check out some others. Thanks again.
-
Well with that you have more than enough... Over 7 cubes before any displacements! You could probably do 32w x16h x20d and that would give you 4.5ish cubes before displacements... Maybe a little over 3 cubes after displacements...

Where were these pics taken? Your basement? This is like a sub-museum! That's pretty cool dude. -

Geez, I was just learning how to walk when these came out... An oldie but a goodie? Are subs now like old cars and fine wines? I hope so! Good luck on this one, I hope this geezer can still bang! -
Which side will you mount the subs on? If I were you, I'd use a double baffle on that side.
-
Why neglect the 1000D? I'm not going to compete or anything, just want more bump. I was just thinking that it would give me a little more than RMS and wouldn't put too much strain on my electrical...
-
Now on the prowl for a used SAZ-1000D, and there is one for sale in the classifieds section... Now on the prowl for the money... lol Now on the prowl for someone looking for a 10" Cerwin Vega VMAX... I'll help design/build the box for it... Now stopping this prowling
-
As I type this, I have yet to figure out how to get the pics of the build so far off the camera and cell phone and onto here, so any knowledgeable folks are welcome to jump in and help me out... Right now the box is together and the inside is painted, and I will be painting the outside with some textured stuff soon, or I'll just carpet it... Hopefully I get these pics on soon.
-
And by that I mean there will not be enough airspace for those subs to reach their full potential in a ported box. You could probably get away with a sealed box with those dimensions, but you said you didn't want to do that...
-
What are the dimensions you are going to use? If they are the same as before, then no I cannot, because I don't want to tell you how to make a box that will suck.
-
x2, bashing is no good. I recently had some issues with that myself... Either way, the amp will provide power to the sub, (otherwise it really is crap), which in turn will make noise. lol Save for a gnarly Sundown, and then you'll see what the DR can really do...
