I did not think it was the grounds, but I had to check... I know you know what you are talking about duran... So I had a conversation with Mr. Jacob himself. As I did not move my grounds at all and they were fine for the other amp, he sided ulrisa: get a pop filter. I'll give it a whirl and see what happens. Thanks everyone for the input.

This. Hey look, you answered your own question briznack! lol Have fun with the Q. May the skilled craftsmen at Fi build with swift hands and may the UPS gods bless you with speedy delivery

The sub will see 1000 watts. I don't think that each coil sees 500; I believe the sub sees 1000 as a whole. Either way, 1000 watts rms is what you will have should you wire it to 1 ohm.

Will check amp ground first, didn't touch HU during install... Check 'em both I will... Yoda time!

Of SPL mom and the audio lol This what you are talkin' bout willis? Green?

got pics?

Make correct grounds, the factory ground always sucks, as well as the seatbelt. Will try that... Curious: how come it worked with my old amp?
-
HU has factory ground Amp is grounded to rear seatbelt bolt. Both grounds worked fine with old amp; no pop and no other problems, so I figured because it was a direct swap, the new amp could be to blame... Untrue?
-
Sounds like this could help... Any other suggestions? This has only happened with the new amp: Direct swap with the old amp: Didn't even change the old remote: it is exactly the same as the sundown one!

Also, car is Saturn SW2 1993. Stock electrical with big 3. 85 amp alt. Hope that is useful. Told that I need some sort of resistor; unsure where to put it.

SAE1200d or SAZ1000d
Don Ganso replied to cheese20323's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The biggest difference that I noticed between the SAE 1200D and the SAZ-1000D is that the SAZ is strappable, while the SAE is not. If you are not planning on getting a second amp, (for your subs), then get more power with the SAE-1200D. If your budget for the highs amp is 150, then look on db-r, there is an SAX-50.4 for about that price refurbished. Goes nicely with either of those sub amps. For sure ill get the SAX50.4 refurb for 153$ The sub amp that i want is the saz 1000d but i believe that the saz has more current draw than the sae 1200d Another thing is that the SAZ is stable on an 18v electrical system, while the SAE stops at 15v... Although I've heard of someone who "accidentally" ran the SAE-1200D, (v2) on 17v electrical and had no problems... I guess it is up to you, but if competition is not for you now or later, I guess the SAE has more power... That's just my .02 -
1: In the power connection section of the manual, it shows the amp connected directly to the battery; no fuse for the wire, just the 3 30 amp fuses on the amp, but there is a fuse in the wire in the 2000 and 3500 diagram. I know that the 2000 and 3500 do not have fuses of their own and therefore need the fuse in the power wire, but I did not know that there was no need to fuse the power wire for the 1000 and 1500... I have always been told to fuse the power wire no matter what, so this is new to me. 2: I have always been told by many reputable members of this forum that sundown rates their amps' output at 12.8v instead of 14.4. However, in the manual, it says that the testing voltage and THD were 14.4 and less than 1% THD. THD is total harmonic distortion, right? So it is irrelavant to the testing voltage, (besides the fact that a higher output can be achieved with a higher THD?), correct? Does this mean that sundown tests at 14.4 not 12.8? I am confused... SA-12: Dumb question, but will there ever be a dual 2ohm model? Just wondering. Thanks for any input!

1) Thank you smuller, I thought so, but I was kinda confused 2) Thanks, must have missed it 3) Didn't see it in the ssa store, so I'll check again; another thing I probablly missed Thanks!

Good call... x2 definitely However, if they are both in properly constructed enclosures, my vote would still go to the xcon

thats actually a ground wire So there is a little wire that is part of the klarity rcas that is a ground? I didn't see that on the pics, and I've never seen an rca with the normal plugs and then an extra wire poking out... Is this cable a hermaphrodite? lol Seriously though, I'm confused on what you guys are saying. Its not an extra wire poking out, it is a wire in between the two RCA's that stops about 2 or three inches from the ends of the rca's. Good... I was starting to get worried this was some crazy thing I had no idea about... -
What's the difference besides the price? I know that the Kolossus cable is supposed to be thicker than standard AWG but is it worth almost double the price? Referring to 1/0 awg wire with an Audioque AQ1200D. Wire would be for power/ground/big 3.

Well... From what I hear, if SQ is a bigger goal than volume, go with the XCONs, although they will still be brutally loud... I am unsure if the DPs would be louder, but they are pretty crazy spl drivers...

Why the 3500? Are you going to get the dual 1 model of either sub and run it at 2 ohms or are you getting more than one sub? Just seemed excessive for a daily driver...

Ignore this post, go to the other one: Double post accident due to dial-up!

Perhaps this is why the 1/0 welding cable I have in my car cost more than the KLMX does per foot... (the knukonceptz is going in a friend's ride) More questions: Planning on keeping car for 4-5 more years; KLMX and save or Kolossus? RCA questions; Klarity, Karma, or Krystal? Can we save some $$$ with the Klarity without sacrificing something important or is the Karma or Krystal a better bet? It is only a few bucks, so not a big deal, but spending without necessity is dumb. -
LOL! I'm at school and the second I posted this my mom called and said that my amp just got to my house!
-
Thought so... So he keeps track with sundown on the damaged amps available... Can't wait for my SAZ-1000D to get here!

If you dare burp that thing you'll blow the front end off the car! lol Looks seriously gnarly though... hoping more pics soon.
