  1. I know this mught sound like a retarded question. Im not really an audio noobie but i havent had a newer head unit. My problem is simple. i cant find the bass treble controll. having said that, i have looked and my manual innt much help. My manual says tap the audio button repeatedly untill you get to the desired function IE...SUB LEVEL, BASS, TREBLE, FADE, BALANCE then back to volume. when i push the audio button i get... SUB LEVEL, BALANCE, FADE. not bass ot treble. i figured i had a setting "clicked" that would cause these features not to be present or adjustable. I have reset the head unit using a paper clip and went back to factory settings. still have the same issue. Any suggestions by fellow 9887 owners that have seen this?

    Good budget 10" sub

maybe one sa-8 or sa-10 sundown?
  5. I had the factory head unit in and the highs sounded incredible. but lacked midbass in the doors (fully sealed and treated with SDS) I had planned to upgrade the headunit. i have heard alot of good things about the 9886 and 9887 so i went for it. now its installed i have distorted bass in the doors and the tweeters are not as bright. i wanted to turn the overall bass down a little and brighten up my highs like with the old HU. i played with the SAX50.4 and regained some of what i fell in love with about the Bravox speakers but im not fully satisfied. I have played with the factory presets Rap, rock flat...ect. flat seems to sound the cleanest.
  6. I know enough to get it where it needs to be but also enough to probably get into problem. I could probably get it good if I play with it. I know where I need to cross over and I know how the slopes work. It just really struck me funny not to have bass and treble. I've just never had a headunit this adjustable.
  7. I dont even know the difference between grafic and parametric. would getting the IMPRINT processer be worth it you thinhk? I would probably say no only because once imprint does it's magic, it supposedly locks you out of everything. As in, it might low pass your subs at 150hz or do some funky EQ and you can't manually adjust that. I suggest playing around with the graphic eq first. Per the manual these are the center frequencies the graphic eq covers. Band-1 (63 Hz) / Band-2 (150 Hz) / Band-3 (400 Hz) / Band-4 (1 kHz) / Band-5 (2.5 kHz) / Band-6 (6.3 kHz) / Band-7 (17.5 kHz) Go in, boost a little one by one and see how it affects the sound to your ear. Would adjusting these affect just the door speakers or the sub too? would it be better to leave the EQ on FLAT and just use my sax50.4 to do the adjusting. im not running active and i have all four doors in use? I dont really want to add bass to my doors and treble to my subs...

Home depot, lowes, ACE, your local hardware store. get the one that has the mixing tube. when you squirt it out it mixes the two products for you saving the mess. works real good.looks like this.

I read that Jacob suggests 5 minute loctite. Thats what i have used in the past and had no problems. iv also used CA glue from mobile solutions audio like SMD uses. that worked too.
