Well my patience has got the best of me. i went ahead and installed my subs in an old box i had. box is tuned high and has low port area, but here is a crappy phone video. ill use is as a reference to compare with my new box with lots of port and tuned low. Fair amount of windshield flex but cell camera dosent pick it up well. Feel free to bash if you like. this is just my work truck. I have a rather large build coming up this next year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShwM-8QmSGc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bff01OoDtzU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFGdMxx0igs -

I can understand why. This is going under the back seat of my truck. subs forward/port up. the main body of the box will be under the seat and the port section will be where the middle passengers feet go. i removed the center seatbelt so i dont need foot room. More clear? -
Just curious, will there be a 10" BL with 4" coil?

Alright got a few steps closer to the finish line. I got my big3 rehooked up as well as the Deka9A31 hooked up under the hood to help out the factory. My truck has two battery trays FTW. I have an XS 1200 that i was gonna run behind the seat ...but it wont fit. Amps are all hooked up and all new Knukonceptz wiring and RCAs ran. Really the only thing left is an alternator. my factory alt is 180 amps but id like to be safer than sorry. and building the sub box. I have my cut sheet from Alton(thanks buddy) and the design was JBLcamrys in the begining but he never returned my emails after that Here are some pics. 2.4 cubes @ 33 htz. 41.6 sq/in of port SDS for kick panels to finish up the deadener installation. Don, I love you man. Truck sounds awsome and superb customer service. And of course one baby pic cus m a proud papa! -
DOnt turn your gain past 1/2 then. did you set it with a DMM? slapping yould be your box also.

The bravox speakers sound fantastic! i feel like i need to retune everything now a little, i didnt have time today once i got the amps back in and hooked up it was dark and i had to pick the baby up from daycare. cant really play it loud with an infant present. i took a few pics today but ill take more tomorrow and post em up. yeah well Not Steve Meade was more confusing than SteveMead. so im back to being me again. untill i get fed up with it again. Cool man. Should be a great set up once you get her all tuned up. I hear ya bro, sucks being dark before you even leave work. How big is that boy now? Is he eating jar food yet? Nice to have you back Sir. Do you still have that girls glass eye? lol Yeah im exited to get my subs back in and start bumpin again. ive had these sa8s for a year now and only played them maybe a month total. Baby is 14 pounds now. solid little dude. not jar food yet but almost cereal. he has little biceps already. lol hes 3 month old!! -

well i finally got all the sound deadener showdown installed and the truck back in one piece. Amps are installed and mids/highs working again. still need an enclosure design for the subs but after 2 weeks on zero tunes, im happy to be listening to something. i replaced my battery terminals today also and i am going to install the DEKA 9A31 under the hood along with my factory battery and do the BIG3 again. (had to take all my stuff out for a warrenty issue at the dealer) Ive decided to stick with my saz3k since im have room again and ill just stash the 1500d for a rainy day. -
I have ran many box and sub configurations with my sa-8s. just recently i was running 1 sa8 on a saz1500d at 2 ohms in 1 cube and had great results. i have ran 4 sa8s in 2.2 cubes on 3k and had failures. its just depends on how hard you push them and how you set your amp. i assume if your looking at a SQ set up you dont need much power and your not pushing it to its limits like me. i say go for it.

I do hate CrapMat. i hate it so much i bought porkchop like 50 SDS tiles to replace the fatmat he was installing in mama chops durango. IAK is a family and i dont want my family inhailing tar fumes on a hot day. No no amps in yet. its hard to find daylight to finish puting all the interior back together. ive been getting off around 5 and its dark when i get home. after this project is finished we wont have work untill around january so i should have some time next week. also still waiting on alton to design my box *wink wink* -
got mine! Mark is a pusher.

no, it will split that 3500 between the two subs. yeah that is if he was using one 3500 watt amplifier but he will be using two of them. OP if you have to ask that question then yes you will be in need of recones before you know it, just stick with the recommended rms and use one of the amps on both subwoofers. But hes saying 2 3500s for 4 btls. assuming hes running 1 3500 per pair of subs. 1750 rms per sub. Man you better have a stout electrical!!

From the very first post. Developing a 600-watt RMS 8" woofer with fully custom frame, cone, surround, spider, etc... Frame supports ~35mm one-way linear travel and the soft parts support that as well. Design is motor limited to 19mm linear one-way and 30mm before leaving the gap -- so it will be VERY difficult to reach mechanical limitations even by accident on SPL burps. The soft parts, frame, and so forth are VERY over-engineered to support any future motor designs I may desire to produce... meaning you may see a true high linear stroke "SQ" style design with these parts later on -- but first we are staying true to Sundown heritage and designing a super rugged "daily" woofer that will produce excellent SPL numbers as well.

Well, there goes the forum! J/K good job dude. deserved for sure! -
My initial thought is anywhere from 0.6 to 1.2 cubes vented... but testing will be done to see how it stacks up in reality. You will need to cut the holes out larger for these if the box was made for SA-8s, FYI. oh yeah, forgot i did read that. just a matter of changing the baffle. sounds like maybe ill build a hair bigger volume, say .75 per driver and just be easy on the SAs untill then.
