You can email me, or call me, either way is just as effective. Our Paypal address is my email address [email protected].

Optimal Sealed Enclosure for 15" Mag

    2.5 ft^3 will be perfect.

    Our latest HT project

Ok, Jake was able to help me out and host a few pics that I sent him. I'll post more pics of the screen when I get them uploaded. Oh, and the subwoofer isn't finished by any means - there will be a decorative cover over the top and front of the subwoofer enclosure so you can't see it.

Smallest ported alignment for 15" mag

That's true, dual 12's would work in 5 cubes ported.

Smallest ported alignment for 15" mag

You can force the drivers in a box that small, but the performance won't be there. Sure they'll be louder, but the alignment is just too small. And even then, that 5 cubes must be after port and driver displacement.

Well I have the pictures on my computer but I can't upload them to our site yet since we just changed everything over. Sorry guys.

SI's new web page is up!!!

Thanks mang. We really like it too. It's a LOT easier on the eyes and Cliff is still working on a few additions to the web site that will really get people involved with it.

I just used ie and it loaded in about 2 seconds.

    MTU Dodecasub

They look pretty good to me. You're only seeing the top part of the box in the pics.

The thicker the drywall, the less efficient the transducers are and the more it alters the frequency response. The transducers we use designed specifically for standard thickness drywall. ...on a side note, we are going to try fixing some of them to the body pannels of cars and see what happens - people down south LOVE it to be loud outside their vehicle. Instead of mounting horns under your car, why not have your body panels make sound? Oh, and the Line Array project is still active. I just took down pics on our site because (as usual) everyone tried to pick them apart and find out what drivers we were using, whether they were our own or someone elses. If anything, they should have been concerned with what kind of crossovers we were using. But that's beside the point. The Esprit's are SO distortion-free that it spoils you. You listen to them at what you think is a normal level but when you go to talk to someone next to you, you can't because it's so loud. But it doesn't appear loud. Absolutely ZERO listener fatigue. Most people live their entire lives without ever experiencing zero listener fatigue, but the Esprit's give it to you every time you sit down.

Hrm...very true. And you're right, we will publish the specs of the new Mag's once they're out. I'll see what I can do for a link to the previous BM and Mag's.

The in-the-wall transducers are providing all the sound. The transducers attach behind the sheet rock and essentially make the drywall a speaker. And before you think "man, it must sound muffled", it doesn't. Everybody thinks that, and then they listen to them and go "wow." The transducers are good from about 90 Hz all the way up to 16k Hz (which is where most males can hear up to). It's super neat when people sit and watch your system for about 10 minutes before the confusion becomes too much to process and they ask "where are your speakers?" And with 16 transducers up front and 4 in the rear, loudness isn't a problem even with 120 watts x channel. If you take a look at our HT web page we have a picture of our demo room that has 16 transducers in the wall surrounding the screen. You can try to find them if you want, but honestly you'll be wasting your time. The drivers are behind the sheet rock. They are literally invisible. Processing and amplification is all done in the receiver. The Denon does everything we can ask from it; it decodes in more formats that we've ever thrown at it; it up-converts all video sources (you play a VCR on your 1080p TV/projector); etc. For performance and budget, a HT receiver was the way to go for this particular installation.

Nope. Four 12's was over-kill enough...no need to have more surface area and/or more output. Size was also a factor. The decahedron (sp?) is the project up in Michigan with 10 10's.

    10" mag

Although I am considering the idea for these new Mag's. Considering is the key word there. First we need to get the 12" proto in to see if it measures up in the real-world.

    10" mag

Haha. Well, I have to be a little PC on here.

    10" mag

I had thought about it, but like Ryan said, it would take a LOT of requests for me to even start working on a 10" model. I'm consumed with the 12" and 15" model right now (and yes, I've been working on them FOREVER but this time around the drivers are going to be leaps and bounds better in the SQ area). Every production run I get about 20 or so emails asking about 10's and they all want different coil configurations - quad 1's, dual 1's, dual 4's, quintuple 8's (kidding), but hardly ever dual 2's. So until there is a solid need for a driver with a specific coil configuration, I'm not going to busy myself with the project. However, a 10" Mag would be pretty cool.

SI BM for in home use?

Yep, a BM is right at home ... in the home. We use 12" BM's in IB installations now and we're in the midst of powered 10" sub using the BM design.

    new Mag news

Ok, here's a little more information for you SSA people. The basket used on the new Mag is going to be enclosed (or a wrap-around style). The mounting depth should be under 135mm (5.5") Voice coil diameter is going to be 3", aluminum former, copper windings. It will have a shorting ring in the motor to help with inductance issues (even though the inductance is being cut in half compared to our current Mag I'm still putting a shorting ring in there) As of now the basket will be black with a chrome or polished backplate. Paper cone/foam surround (we've been doing research on how cone material affects sonic performance - and yes, even if cone breakup is above your crossover point, lower harmonics still creep into the subwoofer bandwidth and color the sound - which is why we have chosen to go with the particular blend of paper that we're going with). Power handling will be 1000 watts. Enclosure sizes for the 12" are 0.8 to 1.1 cubes sealed and 1.8 cubes ported to 33 Hz. Better SQ, MUCH shallow mounting depth, slightly lower peak excursion, same efficiency, and the same ability to get really loud if you want to.

    New BM basket

The basket isn't optimized for a 3" core due to the smaller spider landings, so if you've got a 3" moving assembly I suggest not using it because you're limited to a 7" spider. But if you're going to drop a 2.5" coil in it, it'll work just fine.

    new Mag news

Well it would have been here, but someone up-rooted it on ca.com and was asking me questions. I usually let my reps know in advance, and have done so...but just haven't posted up on here because I've been too busy. Sorry guys.

    Banging my own drum :)

WOW!! Congrats on the score and the record Marcos! 150 dB at 20 Hz is beyond impressive. Expect to see a good bit of tht demo car page taken up with purple once things are switched over.

Finally came over from the dark side......

HOLY CRAP that's some flex!! And that's also one heck of a score from a single 15 in a trunk install! Great job my man.

Finally came over from the dark side......

LOL! I'm glad you like it. It's always nice to see people enjoying the Mag's and using them for what they were intended for. With a driver that is as efficient as a Mag is, the usual response is "wow" due to how they perform off such little power.
