    well lets see ....sealed?

Magnum's have never been very good with WinISD, Boxplot, or any of the other programs. What they are good with, however, is music. Like Clarke said, WinISD will only give you an idea of how it will plot out...not sound.

    well lets see ....sealed?

Jakes suggestion will work just fine, and Clarke showed how small of a box it will take to get the coveted .707 alignment, so you can choose whatever you want. I would definately mix fiberglass insulation and polyfil inside the enclosure. As of now we will have plenty of drivers remaining even after the drivers show up. And yes, $350 will cover the driver and shipping up to you.

    other size subs?

LOL! 'just bit late there Jake.

    well lets see ....sealed?

YES! I'm finally starting to rub off on Jake! The combo of polyfil and fiberglass insulation is hard to beat fellas.

Just Could Not Believe What happened....

Lou, check your email again. I just sent you another reply. And I second the notion of using different screws to help hold the driver to the box a little better. If it was that loose, you more-than-likely had air leaks.

    Sub grill for the D2

The only problem with grilles like that is clearance. With 2.4" of travel, and a good solid 1/2" of the surround sticking up above the mounting lip, it would have to be layered plexi.

Haha, a little hijack, but very true. The board runs extremely well. Good job my man. B)

I would go with a sealed enclosure. Ported will still sound good, but a sealed alignment will aid with the fast bass kicks like you want.

Hey, no problem. It looks like we were both confused. We do not publish comparisson data on our subwoofers vs. other subwoofers for the sake of keeping us clear of other company's lawyers. However, if you go to www.caraudio.com and use the search function on their forums using the word "Magnum" you will come up with a LOT of posts. There is a reveiw of a Magnum in their Product Reviews section as well. Descrptions/reviews of Magnum's vs. other subs are all over the internet forums...but you have to search around for them, as they get burried over time with all the new posts. There are a couple testimonials on this forum as well. I take it by your install that you're a SQ competitor? If so, what associatoins have you competed in? Just curious.

    Magnum's are coming......

I've stated that the pre-order price is subject to change, not that it will definately change. ...or at least I hope I have. Basically I'm just being careful and trying not to loose money here.

So do you have a Magnum now, or? I'm kinda confused...this being a Magnum install thread and all. That was a very nice install though!

...am I reading this correctly - you have a Magnum and were featured in a car audio magazine?! If you were, please post pictures and also email me letting me know what month and what magazine you were in.

Specs: Qt: .379 Qe .415 Qm: 4.38 Fs: 29.6 Hz Re: 3.72 Le: 4.6 Vas: 147.2 Mms: 277 g Cms: 103.4 BL: 21.5 SPL: 91.5 dB (1W/1M) Power handling will be rated at ~650 watts RMS (but it will handle more, as you know). Recommended enclosure sizes are 2 cubic feet sealed and 4 cubic feet tuned to 28 Hz vented. 'Not sure about the XXX because I haven't heard one.

    Box Dimensions 4 D2,lets see!

Well just to check WinISD's math, I did some math with a single 4" port tuning a 2 cube enclosure to 30 Hz. Here's what I did: Vent length = [1.463 * (10^7*R^2) / (fB^2*VB)] - 1.463*R (58520000 / 3110400) - 2.926 = 15.08 inches. In other words a 4" diameter vent in a 2 cubic foot vented enclosure (after port and driver displacement) would need to be 15.88" long. WinISD's port calculation for the same alignment was 15.08". That's .8" off. Who was 0.8" off really doesn't matter (me or WinISD). So, assuming WinISD is correct, a slot port that is 2" by 15.5" would need to be 38" long. 2x15.5x38 = 1178. 1178 / 1728 = 0.68 cubic feet of vent displacement. Subtract that volume from your total internal volume and you've got how much actual enclosure space you have to work with (which is right at 2 cubes). I hope this helps. PS: You can also add end correction by adding 1" to your vent length (since your port is 2" tall).

    Box Dimensions 4 D2,lets see!

For a port that is 2" wide by 15.5" tall I'm coming up with vent lengths around 38" long. A vent of that size displaces ~0.68 cubic feet, which brings your overall enclosure volume down to right at 2 cubic feet, giving you your 30 Hz tuning. ...unless I totally missed something. Thanks for the comments on the sub! It's actually pretty rare to hear back from people once they've bought something us. ...unless we see them on the internet.

Josh's is actually in what we believe is 0.8 cubes. We just build the box, installed his two amps (one is under the visible amp, which makes two nestled in that enclosure), and inverted the Magnum. It sounds fantasic, so we're not worrying about enclosure volume estimates.

What is it with Magnum's and being crooked in F-bodies. Josh99TA's was even worse than that when he installed his.

Very nice install indeed. That Mag has got to be shoved in there! We had to put Josh's in the bottom of his hatch. But that's a very good looking, very compact, install.

Check it out: www.stereointegrity.com/hometheater.html These are unfinished pictures of the Esprit speakers. They will look totally different by the time we're finished with them. BTW: The guy in the middle is 6' tall.

Hahaha, doing an extreme car with those (obviously in modified enclosures) as a front stage would be INSANE!! You don't need subwoofers with the Esprit's in a home...let alone a car. If we took the fronts off of them, we could fit inside them. I don't know though Clarke, I'd rather be inside a climate-controlled airplane for a trip over to CA instead of inside a speaker enclosure. If I bring a Nuke, have 2500+ watts on tap at 4 Ohm.
