Actually the LS7's were rated at 470 hp back in 1972/73. The new current "LS6"s are a newer generation of the 350. Bottom line, we do our thing like we do our thing. And if anyone did their fair share of homework, you would find the word "Magnum" in a racing chassis. ...which completes the racing / performance aspect of our naming process so far.

So what exactly do you want to know? I haven't heard the SExxx's, so I can't comment on the Mag's performance compared to your current drivers. What, specifically, do you want to know technically about my subwoofers? We do not / will not give out SPL estimates. There are flat-out too many variables.

Listening Equipment list - Sony XA-1 ES CD player, Outlaw 1050 receiver, Crown K2 amplifier, Monster Cable Interlink 250 interconnects, Monster Cable 12 awg speaker wire, and Stereo Integrity Esprit line arrays. The Magnum 15" is in a 3.6 cubic foot sealed sonotube enclosure being driven by the incredibly relentless Crown K2 that is capable of 2,500 watts RMS. "Spies" 1988 Telarc CD is a must-have for any audio enthusiast who enjoys deep, powerful bass lines. Coupled with the CD's great recording quality, the Spies CD was the first to find its way into the CD player. Track number one opens up with its solid up-beat bass line that will quickly show any subwoofer faults. If a subwoofer exhibits even the slightest amount of overhang, it will show up on this track. The Magnum 15, however, showed just how well it could make the song sound. My initial thought was "just like a Magnum 12, but deeper." The 15's overall sound is dry and incredibly fast. Track two has a deeper bass line that is flat and laid back that the Magnum 15 had no problem keeping up with even with the volume turned up to a considerable roar. Track three's intro has an incredibly heavy bass drop intro that brought the Magnum to submission when fully cranked. We found the 15's limit by the second or third drop when it talked back to us with a loud WHAP. But...with 2500 watts on tap, we should have been a little more careful. I'll post more later, as my father has robbed the system from me to do some RTA'ing. 'can't do a lot of reviewing without actually listening to the music.

14" cutout diameter on the 15". You could probably go smaller, but that works for us. An easy way to find out is to use the top egg-crate protection that comes with your Magnum. It's always the cutout diameter of the sub. B)

Hey, not a problem guys. Thanks for the kind words. I made a promise when I started this compnay to never have bad customer service because that's my biggest pet peve. Maybe after we get huge we can buy the tooling for our 'claw' baskets and come back out with them. ...but by that time who knows what will be available. And yeah Lou, use bigger screws or somethin!

Trust us, the Magnum 15 will keep up with fast bass hits. If it wasn't tight, I wouldn't be selling them. I would have ripped it apart and started from scratch again if it was boomy. From the sounds of it you're in for a very profound awakening as far as bass goes. ...which is a good thing. 10 gauge is fine, but 8 gauge is pretty much overkill unless you're speaker wire is going to be incredibly long. And even then, you still don't need anything over 12 gauge. Power wire to your amplifier, however, is another thing.

2.5 cubes sealed is more than enough room for a Magnum 15. And you basically said it yourself, if you want it deeper and louder than a 12, go with a 15.

Good to see that you're finally posting on the board Max! I'll tell you what, you guys are missing out on the fun - listening to the Esprit's and a Magnum 15. Jake, you should have come over.

The fiberglas insulation that we use is just regular home insulation (Owens Corning). We typically go down the isle of our local hardware store and look for the small rolls (~$7 or so), or grab a big jumbo roll that you see outside houses when they're being built for larger enclosures (like the Esprit's we just got done with). The 15 might displace ~0.15 cubes. The Magnum 12's technically displace 0.07 cubes, but we tell customers to account for 0.1 cubes just to be safe. I'll get you an exact number soon.

If you upgrade your wiring, upgrade the big 3 - alternator to battery, battery to ground, and battery to starter. Spend the extra money and get your alternator beefed up. I highly suggest looking around for an alt thats been built by Dominic Iragi? (I have no clue how to spell his name) If you deaden your vehicle, go to your local hardware or home improvement store and buy Peel-n-Seal. It is a material that used in roofs that works just like "Dynamat" but costs about 1/5'th as much. It's $1 per square foot. I would use that on all the horizontal surfaces. For verticle surfaces like your doors and the sides of your trunk (and anything like the underside of your trunk lid) I would look around for RAAMAT deadening material on the internet. RAAMAT is extremely sticky and will perform better on surfaces that are tougher to adhere to. I also strongly recommend buying a heat gun and lightly heating up all of your deadening as you are installing it. Just heat it up a little bit and then use something like the opposite end of a screw driver to rub the back of the deadening material onto your floor, door, or trunk lid. After listening to this Magnum 15, I strongly recommend placing it in a sealed enclosure...unless you just totally want to loose your hearing. If you're after that sort of thing, however, by all means knock yourself out. You won't need another fuse/circuit breaker. The one you have is just fine. I would go 2 cubes sealed stuffed 50/50 with fiberglass insulation and polyfil. If you do port them you will need 8 cubic feet after port displacement for two 15's tuned to ~28 Hz. You can go smaller, but your tuning frequency will rise in anything smaller than 4 cubes each.

Denim was nice enough to make that banner for me. If you can get the PG for around the same price as the Brutus, definately go with the PG. Just my $0.02 worth.

The bx100d will be just fine. If you want to pay more money, the PG will be a good amp as well. ...although you could always buy the bx1500 and just keep the gain turned down below what it "should" be set at.

Chevrolet might not have made the 307 engine, but they did use it in some entry-level V8's (like the '68-69 Chevelle's). It wasn't powerful at all, but we're just using numbers. If we were basing it off of performance out of the V8's we would have used the 327's (compact and powerful). B)

Take a look at the previous 5 issues of voice coil magazine for a good look at what DEI/Orion is calling "dual gap" tech. While I haven't seen a cutaway of an Orion/DEI "dual gap" sub, I would take a look at STEP Technologies pending patents for a good idea.

It will run until the drivers arrive...although the prices probably won't change at all, but maybe on the 15" (just like it states on our web page). Pre-ordering gaurantees that you'll have a driver(s) and that the driver(s) will be shipped out before anyone else's.

When we come out with the 6.5" comps we're going to call them the 327's. (has anyone noticed the pattern yet?) :ph34r: To be honest, we weren't planning on coming out with a Magnum 15 for quite some time, but the oportunity came up and we jumped on it.

Our other basket actually had of advantages over the Venezuela also. The 12-spoke reminds me of a giant verion of a midrange's basket, which is always a good thing. The thing I was mostly surprised by was how far the arms of the 12-spoke come out initially from the spider landing. Maybe it's just the shape, but man they look big. Cool stuff. B)

Yeppe, it's a dual spider with a spacer and the leads are woven in. We opted for the 12-spoke over the Venezuela and others for numerous reasons, but we like the way it looks and it has a lot of good qualities - vents below the spiders, good clearance, etc.

From preliminary listening I'm really surprised at how tight the driver is. I can't give a good comparisson because the vehicle and amp that we have available for testing is...crappy. The amplifier is the main part - it's got massive issues. I'll be able to do a comparisson this weekend for you though.

I just got done listening to it with about 300 watts powering it, and all I can say is that I'm extremely pleased with how it performs sealed. Very articulate, very deep, very nice. We're going to throw it in our home hi-fi setup tomorrow and really pour the coals to her with the Crown K2.

LOL! We should include back supports for people that buy more than one Magnum. ...and even then, a single Magnum can give some people problems.

And another... I just got done hooking it up to our Crown K2 free-air for a while. Let me break it down for you - this puppy can really throw down.
