Larger box = lower F10's, higher F3's. More bottom bottom end. There won't be a huge difference in sound, but a larger sealed enclosure almost always gives you more bottom end. SQ will still be great in any box bigger than 0.4 cubes for a Magnum 12.

Thicker MDF would be fine (1"), but 3/4" is a good thickness that's easily available. Why the 1.25...I have no clue. 1.5 is kinda big (at the top of our recommendations), but it sure wouldn't hurt anything.

I think that he'll end up with more than 0.5 cubes after he installs the driver. Anyone have any estimates, cubic-footage-wise, on that spare tire well? The Mag15 might displace .3 cubes at the most.

A 500/1 would be enough. A 1000/1 would be my choice. If you're getting a 15" Magnum I would give it more than 600 or so watts. Maybe look into US Amps, Xtant, and PPI's big boys for amps that have similar features and put out as much, or more, power.

Unless the person didn't attach the fiberglas insulation to the walls (like I have suggested), it might go up in the pole...but so could polyfil. Take what you heard however you want. There are no grilles that I know of that will be compliant with a Magnum's amount of travel.

No. It, like polyfil, effectively adds volume to the enclosure.

Magnum's are coming! 12" and 15" versions will be available on (estimated) February 27'th. The baskets that we previously used (the "claw" basket) are no longer available...ever. The company that made the baskets went out of business. The baskets we will be using are the 12-spoke baskets finished in a silver/gray powder coat. Pricing on the 12"s is $300 shipped (as usual), and the 15" versions will be $350 shipped*. *Pricing on the 15's is subject to change after we receive the drivers. $350 shipped is only for orders received before we obtain the shipment. Pre-orders are now being accepted for the 12's and 15's.

Yes, wood glue is better. Like Tirefryr said, the wood around the joint will actually break before the joint breaks with wood glue. I didn't believe it myself until we experimented with it a while back.

The 15's are being shipped to us tomorrow. The 12's are being built the end of this week and will be shipped to us early next week, which means we should get them around middle/late next week. I'm sorry for the delay, but there's nothing I can do about it unfortunately.

The box design that was posted will be fine. If the designer of the enclosure didn't raise the tuning from what we recommend in 4 cubes I would have a problem with it. But it's just one of those things - for a given alignment, going smaller forces you to raise tuning. It looks good to me. The larger box, however, will play lower (obviously b/c of the tuning alone).

It just arrived.

They weigh approximately 35-36 lbs. Vent area should be at/above 36^2 in (equivalent to a 3x12" slot port). I'm sure the WinISD guys could help you out more in that area if you want.

Fiberglas or polyfil can touch the speaker without any problem. Was it you or someone else who asked this already in another post? If you don't screw the box together there is a good chance that the Magnum will fracture a joint. We've had that happen with two enclosures so far, so like Clarke said, use screws. ...and you will still be able to push on the cone if the enclosure is completely sealed.

Hey all, Scott Stoner just called me and gave me the news that with one of Clarke's 12" Magnum's in his vehicle with 1200 watts he posted a 150.8 on a new Termpro mic at a competition over in California. WOO HOO!!!

Connect the positive terminal of one voice coil with the positive connection of the other voice coil and do the same thing with the negatives. Parallel wiring a dual 2 Ohm sub will give you the 1 Ohm that you're looking for. If I remember correctly there is a good wiring tutorial on JL's website.

Well it's rather hard to explain, but the sub would end up running IB now that I think about it if they were to fiberglass the opening and place the Magnum there. ...although I guess you could port it if you did some really tricky stuff.

A bandpass enclosure needs to be calculated just right for a Magnum 12. If it isn't a fiberglass install I suggest facing the subwoofer toward the rear of your vehicle...especially if it is in a trunk.

All of you IB guys show up now after we've made already made a lot of drivers. Why couldn't you have shown up earlier?

If they are fiberglassing the opening for you and placing the sub recessed in your opening, then yes, go with it. If the company is simply facing your subwoofer forward, forget it. Trunk installed subwoofers that are faced towards the front of the vehicle sound horrible. Please elaborate on the installation and we will be glad to help you out.

Yes yes and yes. I will do my best to ship out the Magnum's as soon as possible. Of course the list of who gets what first is confidential. I will not disclose who gets their drivers first, second, etc. 2.37 sealed sounds just fine to me.
